While I am a new patient and can only offer first impressions, I was very impressed with her ability to understand my issues very quickly. Dr. Girgis had a very sensible approach, really asked perceptive questions to get to the bottom of the situation and made a comprehensive plan moving forward which I thought was really reasonable. Her office staff was very pleasant, helpful and copying all of my records on the spot and in making future appointments.

I have seen a number of neurological specialist in the Boston area and by far she is absolutely the best one. She is insightful, thoughtful and her analysis, spends plenty of time with her patients and is not afraid to do the paperwork necessary with the insurance company to get you the appropriate medication. I have no idea why some of the earlier reviews were negative but honestly I sent a member of my family to her as well because I think so highly of her. She is one of the few to think outside of the box.

Girgis is a great doctor. She knew what I needed to my migraines and took them more seriously than I did! She is friendly and I've never had any issues with an appointment. I would highly recommend!

Although her bedside manner and her staff's administrative ability leaves much to be desired, she is a good doctor who makes an effort to schedule appointments quickly and to see as many patients as possible (A rarity in Boston). Her diagnoses are accurate and she showed interest and knowledge of my condition. I wouldn't call her rude, but she needs to be more attentive and focused during appointments. Also, be prepared to wait up to an hour after your scheduled appointment to actually see her. If you can survive these offenses however, and you need to see a neurologist that has convenient scheduling and you don't want to wait months to see a neurologist, Dr. Girgis is great.

P.S If I could, I would rate her 3.5 stars.

Update: 4/11/18
Sorry to say that my review was based on speculation however I now must give the office 1 star rating. The rescheduled appt was cancelled. They knew I was moving 5 states away in a week, but still cancelled with no apologies. Circumstances happen. This however is unacceptable.

Previous review:

I'll start by saying that the office management is extremely problematic and there is almost always a long wait. The office waiting room is tiny and usually crowded.

Dr. Girgis, however is an extremely caring doctor and I have considerable trust in her. If you can look beyond what most patients probably find unacceptable, you will have a doctor who truly listens to you. Going to a neurologist is a big deal! I have been followed for several years for a periodic check-in and I walk away feeling quite informed. Dr. Girgis doesn't sugar coat issues and yet she does not create unnecessary worry so I make an exception by overlooking the super difficult admin issues.

Knowing the negatives at the start let's me plan how to have success. Here is my list:

1) Be quite clear in your request for an appointment.
2) Plan to allow an extra hour of wait time
3) Schedule when Dr. Girgis is NOT on call
4) Bring notes.
5) Call a few hours before your appointment asking about wait time
6) Use your car for your waiting room and plan to work on the phone or bring a book.
7) The scheduler does answer the phone so don't be worried about checking in as you learn how many patients are before you.
8) Be assertive but kind.

My appointment yesterday was for 11:45 am. When my name was called at 12:45pm I decided that I best reschedule (not everyone has time for this I realise) because I didn't want to be rushed during my alotted time.

I normally do not write long reviews and some may want to seek alternatives but I'd rather have a caring specialist with a crappy waiting room than a glitzy one with a superficial specialist. Good luck and be prepared.

PS I am not related to Dr. Girgis or a friend of hers. I have nothing to gain or lose by giving ing this review.

My father saw her several years ago for his epilepsy and the experience was awful! From triple booking appointments, leaving us in the waiting room for hours on end, to a horrific bedside manner in which she insulted me and my family. She did nothing for him, but adjust medications. It wasn't until we went to a new hospital/doctor that my father got the medical attention he needed. Unfortunately, by then, the epilepsy caused so much damage that he was unable to recover and has since passed away. I blame her medical malpractice for his pre-mature death. I'd give her negative stars if I could, I'd have her medical license taken if I could and would recommend that NO ONE EVER see her as a patient.

She is extremely rude and insulting. She is not helpful and doesn't seem to care at all about her patients. She made me feel awful for coming to her, as if I was a burden to her and wasting her time. She dismissed me when I explained my symptoms. She did not seem even remotely interested in trying to help me figure out what is wrong.

This practice is neglectful and a disgrace to medicine. Patients wait more than an hour after their scheduled time, they never call back, they "forget" to send in Rx, are incapable of contacting insurance companies, they lie, and frankly I'm surprised this doctor has not been sued for malpractice. I myself have been waiting 3 weeks doe authorization for an MRI and in the wait time lost feeling in my calf. Stay away.

The only thing less competent than Dr. Girgis herself is her staff. Unable to follow a very simple letter format, consistently vindictive towards clients. Avoid this office.

Whatever time you make your appointment for, show up an hour to 90 minutes later. Absolutely absurd that you wait over an hour to be seen and she does not even apologize for being so late, makes you feel bad for being upset instead!

This doctor is very rude after waiting months for this appointment. I would never recommend anyone.
