I think the Brookline Police department is outstanding. In 2001, I had $15k stolen from me by a contractor. I recovered all the money, in part, because the Brookline Police Department treated it as a criminal rather than civil matter. In 2015 the this department played a role in outing a system abuser in my neighborhood who has since moved onto a town with a less diligent police department.

Today I casually spoke with an officer at the gas station. He was extremely down to earth, definitely not arrogant or condescending. I don’t understand why the police get so much hate. I just wanted to thank you for your service & express my gratitude....I have nothing but respect for what you do.

I went in to the station on the 19th of this month. I wanted to ask about my rights in regards to certain situations. I was a bit apprehensive going in and finding out the truth but, the officer on duty at the front desk was courteous and gave me the information I needed. I’m glad I asked.

Dispatch employees are saints for dealing with local loonies calling in constantly.

On 8/18/2018. I was driving going to a party and a cop pulled me over because I was driving on the bike lane for a split second. At that time, there wasn't any oncoming bicyclists on that particular lane so I wasn't sure why the officer pulled me over. The officer had explained to me that the lane was for bicyclists only lane. If there's no bicyclists on that lane car's should use the lane to reduce traffic.

Today I got a piece of mail from the Brookline Mass Police department stating that I had got in a parking ticket in April. Here's the funny part, I have never been to the location listed on the ticket nor have I never even been to Brookline Mass. I'm assuming that my ticket was issued to somebody else and they typed the license plate which happened to be very similar to mine. When I called on the phone they were extremely rude and told me that I had to go online and dispute it. You know what I hate doing? Wasting my time trying to fix something that someone else made a mistake on. I highly suggest you look into your town ticketing officers and maybe get them a better pair of prescription glasses and stop wasting people's time.

I received a parking ticket for parking overnight between the hours of 2 am to 6 am on a street with a sign that stated “No Parking 8 am - 10 am.” The ticket was placed on my driver side mirror instead of on the windshield. Red flag number 1: obstruction of driver side view. I did not realize there was a ticket on my driver side mirror until I was already on the road and was about to change lanes. Luckily, I did not get into an accident. Secondly, I called the department explaining my situation and informed me that “Everyone who enters the town of Brookline knows about the overnight parking ban. It is on our website. You can look it up yourself.” As someone who is not from the area, I rely on signs on the road to follow county, town, city policies. I do not rely on the town’s website for this information. First of all, I do not know where to find this information (navigation issue). The main page of the website does not tell me anything about an overnight parking ban. Secondly, the sign is misleading if that was the case. It should be corrected to “No Parking from 8 am - 10 am, 2 am - 6 am.” Based on the details from the original sign, I was under the assumption that I cannot park there from 8 am - 10 am, every other hour is fine. Thirdly, what the officer specifically said to me was completely unacceptable. It just shows clear bias towards the middle and upper class, with complete disregard to the less fortunate. The bias is against the underserved population, those who do not have access to the internet. Brookline police department simply expects you to go to their county website to figure out what the rules and regulations are. Even if people do have internet, navigating through the website is a whole another issue. The fact that I have to go out of my way to find this kind of information just shows how the town of Brookline HAS NOT done a good job at using the tax payers money. People rely on signs in the town when parking and not a website.

received a parking ticket for $200 charged to lease when I've never been in to the town and haven't been in the state for years. No due diligence before charging people and hassle trying to sort out how this happened. This is not a reflection of the officers as I have never met any of them since I or my car have never been to the town.

I called to get information to appeal and was very rudely told to call back at business hours which I can understand, but the attitude was unecessary. Given that I work longer than their business hours are open it does make it hard to address a ticket that I should not have received and how is someone to know that calling after hours would be completely worthless.

I work for a local business and needed a form filled out by a local officer. I called the Brookline Police Dispatch, spoke with an officer and explained what I needed. He was very pleasant and said no problem.

I get there within 20 min of the conversation and wait at the front dispatch desk for 10 minutes without seeing a soul. Then the officer who finally comes out was extremely rude and dismissive when I explained everything. I tried telling him I spoke with someone who said they could help and he could not be any less interested.

I bit my lip, politely thanked him for his help and walked out the front door angry that I wasted almost an hour away from the office.

What a great way to interact with your community.

Just reiterating what others have said already. The "police" in this area really don't have anything better to do than harass law-abiding, contributing citizens for parking ten minutes over their arbitrary two-hour limit. Many rental properties in the area have waiting lists for parking spaces, so us contributing citizens are forced to play this game of musical cars on streets that are in no danger of being overrun with parked cars. This is simply an egregious use of city resources.

Just for anyone reading, whichever "police" officer (they aren't even brave enough to put their names or badge numbers on the tickets they issue) patrols the area around Freeman and Babcock St. does so between the hours of 1:00pm and 5:00pm typically. Be especially aware around these times as this glorified desk jockey particularly likes to issue tickets.

On June 3rd 2019 I went to Brookline to purchase vibram shoes I was lost and wondered the streets until I used my phones GPS. I noticed a target close to my destination and decided to take a look. They had a ton of gay pride merchandise and I decided to try on a shirt shortly after I entered the fitting room I heard pounding on the fitting room door and a deep voice saying it was the police. I thought it was a joke. When I opened the fitting room door the police padded me down and asked if I had any needles. They asked me if I have ever been arrested for shop lifting before. I have never stolen in my life!!! They proceeded to harass me until I showed them my bag. They said they were doing this because they saw me walking up and down the road and I ''looked'' suspicious and I was '' acting'' strangely. After I told them that I work in retail and this is not the proper protocol for shop lifting and I asked for there names they said that it was just to protect the stores merchandise and I should understand. They never gave me their names. I have never been treated like this before. They basically profiled me. Because I didn't look like a Boston university student. I am looking into taking legal action for defamation of character and the stress anxiety and humiliation I felt. Really put a damper on my day. The brookline police department treated me terribly and I will never go to brookline again. They lost my business
