Hands down the best salon in Asheville! After moving to Asheville, I spent more than a year looking for a hair stylist and a salon that I can feel happy spending time in. After going through several salons downtown and many others recommended ones, I was left disappointed till Ashes & Steel. I love the environment which is bathed in natural light with a cool industrial vibe. And Samira is the best, skilled in both color and cut.

First time at the salon, really loved the vibe and the professionalism which was high without being stuffy or pretentious. The little attention to detail is impressive. Geoffrey gave me great service all around - from the consultation, to explaining why my pervious stylist/colorist did what she did, to the cut and the extra attention during the shampoo by giving me a hair mask. I also liked that he used product and told me about it (which I know helps with sales) but wasn't pushy at all and I did wind up buying the spray he used on me. I'm looking forward to my next appointment!

Great salon right in the heart of the river arts district!! Ren is amazing and I love my fashion color look with edgy cut. She is so detailed and precise in her work and really cares about her clients. Highly recommend!

Ren does a fantastic job with my blonde. We dyed it for the first time in October, knowing that my hair grows really fast and I wouldn’t be getting any touch ups for a while. I finally went back to refresh my blonde for the summer but I can honestly say there hasn’t been a day in 5 months that the color looked unnatural or badly maintained. Thank you Ren for making it so easy and practical to have so many good hair days :)))

Ashes and Steel is such a beautiful hair salon. I felt like very taken care of and happy with my experience. Grace my stylist is friendly, warm and professional. I love my hair more and more every time I go. She does a great job of making sure my needs are met, and I always love what she does with my color. I would recommend Grace and this salon to anyone :)

Photos of the hair in all its glory, it's been 3 whole months.
The red color hasn't faded, the ends did overtime but the blend is fabulous and it looks like it's meant to be this warm tone brown/coper.
I also requested a butterfly cut/ curtain bangs usually people just chop two strings and done but Ren did a good job and I'm happy with it!
This was my first time going here and I'm happy I chose Ren she's also really fun and sweet has a great personality to work with. Can't wait to go back

The best experience I've had at a salon. Chris was attentive to my ideas and offered amazing advice, leading to the best haircut ever. I'm blown away by the friendliness and openness by the entire staff that led to me feeling extra special. This business makes it a point to get to know the client and make sure every need is met. I will never let anyone touch my hair again except Chris, even if I have to fly from Massachusetts to see him. Thank you again and looking forward to going back again in the near future.

Love everything about Ashes & Steel! Every single person at the salon is incredibly kind, and the stylists who do my hair are phenomenal. Whether it's a blowout or a keratin treatment, I'm never disappointed. Oh, and I should mention that the space is chic and has a great vibe. HIGHLY recommended!

Chloe was so sweet. I was offered coffee and anything else I may want or need when I first arrived. She asked me what I wanted done with my hair specifically. Was very kind and explanatory during the whole process. I LOVED the final outcome of my hair. She listened to me completely about what I wanted and it showed in her work! I will definitely come again to see her!

I went to this studio with only the online reviews to lean on. Geoffrey was the most helpful and caring hair stylist I’ve had in a long time. I have VERY color resistant hair and the process was lengthy, but he was determined to have me looking and feeling my best. The haircut I received was also very flattering. I have received numerous compliments on my hair since having it done. I have absolutely found my new hair home.

Geoffrey always does a wonderful job at making me look “lived in” and natural, which is my goal. He’s always honest with me when he thinks something won’t look good with my eyes/skin tone etc WHICH I APPRECIATE and LOVE! I love an honest stylist who you can trust to always steer you in the right direction. Love his sweet personality and charm too. He also gives an amazing scalp scrub. Thanks Geoffrey!

I left feeling renewed. The ambiance is breathtaking and things run smoothly like clock work and without a hitch. Chris, my stylist is outstanding and not only has a keen eye for detail but he is thorough and careful. From the moment I was greeted, to the wonderful products, the extra touches, and the talent at Ashes & Steel will definitely lure me back again & again….

Amanda was amazing! Not only did my blowout look great (which is no easy feat for curly hair on a rainy day) but my hair/scalp have never felt better. She was lovely to talk to and gave great recommendations on where to go in Asheville. I wish we lived closer because I would come back to have her do my hair every time!

Amber at ASHES&STEEL IS MY GIRL. My very first ever hair stylist. My experience(s) were top notch amazing, she understands exactly what I want and talks me through the process of everything. Been with her for 3 years since I moved state and she’s been the best!!! Amber will not let you down hands down 👏🏼

Love your salon! And Gary is super star! They have the best products, the most experienced stylists and everyone is incredibly professional. I’ve never had to wait, I’m always offered a beverage and the cut, color and styling are the equal or better of major cities. I looked for 4 years to find a salon in western nc and now I drive a long way to A&S! Xo

LOVE LOVE LOVE Ashes and Steel! Finding a salon in a new town isn't always the easiest. I felt so welcome from the moment I walked in the door! Offering a glass of wine to start my service is always the way to my heart ❤. Everyone was just so wonderful, and of course Amber was fantastic!!!! She did an excellent job and was so personable! She really listened to me and did exactly what I asked for. I really love the vibe of Ashes and Steel, it was modern, rustic, clean, and relaxing which is exactly what I look for in a salon. My search for my new salon is over and I can't wait to come back!!!!

My hairdresser Chloe was so sweet and so fun to talk to. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted it and styled it beautifully. All around amazing salon and great atmosphere.
