I ❤ the staff! Have a sick furbaby and they were able to get him right in diagnosis the problem and get his medication the next day! Can't say enough good things about them 😍 I know that my little Pepe' got the best care possible!

Excellent place to take your pets. A and E has been my go to for about the last nine or ten years. They have always been great to my cats, even my cat with a lot of...personality. The prices are a bit high but I feel like I'm given more than enough time for all of my anxious pet owner questions and the quality of the care has been top notch. They are easy to get appointments with quickly and are available for random questions by phone/email that may pop up due to various pet emergencies in the day to day. Everytime my pets have gone through any medical issues they've been excellent about checking in and communicating. I've seen each vet here and have always been impressed. The staff/vet techs are highly knowledgeable as well. I will continue to place my trust in A and E for years to come.

I am a vet student at U of I, so a very difficult client to deal with when my pets get ill. Every single staff member at A&E (trust me, I have interacted with them all between my dogs illnesses) go above and beyond for my pets health. The front desk staff is quick to get me in whenever my pets need a visit, the technician/assistant team is as lovey dovey as possible with my dog who loves people and caring and thoughtful with my dog who would rather not be around strangers. The doctors are rapid at responding, go into great detail, follow up to make sure the plan is working, and collaborate to ensure the best next steps.
One of my dogs has had more random illnesses than any living creature should have in their life and his primary doctor, Dr. Maher, has been insanely rapid at diagnosing his illnesses and has hit the nail on the head every time. Her quick efforts in finding the problem has led to quick and easy resolutions. Dr. Maher is simply terrific.
The team at A&E is one of the best in the CU area. You will be happy you took your pets to the wonderful staff of A&E.

Currently a grad student at UIUC and needed a vet for my cat. Absolutely love the staff - always friendly, professional, and there is great communication. Recently, my kitty had to have teeth extracted and I was updated every step of the way from both the techs and Dr. Maher. I have always been pleased with the treatment of my pet and would highly recommend them!

Being from out of town, I panicked a little when my dog began developing GI symptoms. But I gave A&E a call, and they were awesome! They got my dog in right away. They were extremely thorough, kind, and compassionate. They also provided excellent, detail-oriented discharge instructions. I felt my dog was well cared and she’s feeling much better after the care she received at A&E. Would highly recommend!

Amazing place. Dr Maher was great she took plenty of time with me and Steven, my kitty. Prices are a little high but worth it to be heard and not be rushed out of the office.

They have consistently provided quality care for all of my pets for 14 years and counting, and my parents' pets before that. Through several surgeries, several unknowns that got explored together. The vets have kept great communication during some of the most stressful times I've had, and this year has been a doozy for me as 2 of my pets are starting to age and seeing more health issues. They are always very patient with my questions and my googling. I even drove all the way back from Chicago for vet care during the 5 years I lived up there.

They take the best care of our pups. Staff is so good. It’s clear they love animals.

6 months ago, I switched to A&E after my neighbors recommended Dr. McGuffin. My dog's former vet office performed an annual exam and two surgeries on my dog within 4 months, including a benign tumor removal, and still missed a large cancerous tumor on her belly that was very obvious if you rub her belly. Always too busy and telling me they were in a rush during exams when they were running late, the former vet office was very rude when I pushed for a biopsy despite their advice to ignore the tumor on her belly, which revealed the tumor was cancerous. Rather than explain the cancer diagnosis or all treatment options, the vet called to say it is cancer, gave me one treatment option, and ended the call in less than 5 minutes. I was shocked and horrified by the news and the vet's "bedside manner."

I am so glad I went to my neighbors for help. Dr. McGuffin was so patient and compassionate in examining my anxious dog who now hated the vet due to living through 2 surgeries just months before meeting Dr. McGuffin. Despite my dog's efforts to avoid the exam, Dr. McGuffin found 2 additional tumors that the former vet's office missed because they do not do proper exams. Dr. McGuffin was even more compassionate with me accepting my dog's cancer diagnosis and discussing it for about an hour without every telling me that she was in a rush as always happened with the former vet. We agreed on surgery for the 3 tumors, and to biopsy the 2 new tumors.

Dr. Vahling performed the tumor removals when Dr. McGuffin had an emergency on surgery day, which went as amazing as can be for 3 tumor removals. My elderly dog recovered very well and Dr. Vahling got all the cancer out. 6 months later, no sign of the cancer returning. I have never had a vet's office take so much time with my dog and me to make sure a thorough exam is performed and I can discuss everything without a timer. The staff is amazing as they are following the high bar from the vets at A&E. I will never go to anywhere else as long as I live in the area.

These are the best vets we've ever had in 4 states! We started coming to A&E with our Labrador Retriever 4 years ago on the recommendation of a neighbor. We are consistently blown away by the competence and helpfulness of every single staff member we interact with. They care (about the pet and the client) and it shows.

Always professional, always so helpful and informative, I LOVE taking my mini schnoodle, Frankie, there! They never try to "upsell" me on other products or try to slide in a "service" then charge me for it. Great and friendly staff. Frankie never hesitates on going in, so I know they treat him right and he seems to enjoy his visits (how many pet owners can say that about their pets going to the vet??)!!

The best in the state. I had a dog named Roscoe that we boarded and had a vet for him there. They are so nice and do everything for our animals. My dog very recently passed at age 12 and they helped us figure out what to do next along with sending us a sympathy card with very kind words. Use A & E they are excellent. Also thank you for all the care of Roscoe over the years.

I moved to Urbana for veterinary school in 2015 and A & E was our primary care clinic until I recently moved following graduation. I highly recommend them to anyone in the area. Compassionate doctors with excellent communication skills. Support staff is professional, hardworking, and trustworthy. Many are pre-vet or veterinary students and it's great to see A & E supporting future vets and techs that way. Everyone here has always gone above and beyond for my pets and we were so lucky to have them.

Really great vet office. My fiance is a vet student and advised me to go here while she was out of town. They were friendly and wonderful the whole way through. They made recommendations which acknowledged the financial limitations I might have and made it clear what the best level of care I could give my pup was. I will definitely return if I need further help with him!

This is an amazing veterinary hospital! They have seen two cats of mine and three dogs of mine over the last 5 years or so and they have been caring, efficient and GREAT at communicating and answering my endless questions each single time. My pets have seen Dr. Vahling, Dr. McGuffin and Dr. Long - and they all have been great. They practice good medicine and their nurses are also so great working with stressful dogs (my nervous and bitey chihuahua does great with them, they have been so understanding and patient which wasn't the case everywhere). The receptionists have been patient and great at communicating and working with us each time. Really, from doctors to nurses to everyone here - Highly recommend! They care about you, your family and furbabies and work so hard to make sure everything goes great in our visits!
