One of a kind museum which preserved pretty much the entire neighborhood. Adult ticket costs $23. A few houses have been moved here. This place demonstrates the stories of the sailors and navies in the last couple of centuries who used to live here. It also gives a broad overview of how water level used to be and how people used to handle tides etc. The best part of the museum is that there were two live actors who pretend to be like it's 1912 or 1943. They are funny and hilarious, I had a chat with one of them for 20 minutes, he was talking about his sons that they were preparing for world war 2. He also asked me to show my ration card to buy food from his store!!

Had an amazing time at the Museum! I always thought the museum was just one building but it’s truly a walk through time told in a neighborhood of homes open for exploration. It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in warm weather and one of the most fun interactive museums I’ve visited. Well worth it!

This is a great historical park, with period buildings that describe what life was like in another era. Staff is in dress costume to match the time and are very good talking about what occured in the early days of America. In the winter, there is a skating park. Easy walk to shops and restaurants afterward. I thought the day spent there was lovely.

I hadn't walked through here since my kids were younger. The tour for the buildings wasn't open but they had the main building open for skating. We didn't skate but it was a nice walk through with all the lights. I definately recommend a walk through any time of the year.

This is trip back in time. This place is rich with history. I can tell the entire area is well taken care of. Everyone who works here is friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed the exhibits as much as the staff. This is a great place for children as well as adults. It's interesting to see how people lived throughout the years. I'm glad this has been able to be preserved us and future generations

It has been a long time since I toured Strawberry Banke. It is obvious that a lot of good work has been done over the years! Portsmouth is lucky to have this institution. The homes and gardens preserved here are beautiful!

We had beautiful weather the day of our visit, and yet there were not hordes of visitors. You should be able to talk to docents and tour houses without feeling rushed.

Due to the condition of some of the properties, those with mold or dust allergies may want to take note!

Lovely place! So much history and they have tour guides at every house. The house with the flags are the ones that are opened. Some of the house are over 400 years old and they preserved it so nicely. The grocery store had 400 times which is a lot back then compared to 25000 8tems in the average grocery store today. All the staff are nice and friendly. They love to explain everything and tell us the history of the place. I would recommend at least 2 to 3 hours for a quick run. You might need 2 days if you want to see everything.

This was a great Museum. It has free and ample parking. It is a good thing the ticket is good for two days as we closed the Museum and went to finish the next morning. There is a lot to see and learn. The people portraying people from the past are extremely good and don't break character.

Very cool experience that felt like we had gone back in time. You’ll get to tour an entire neighborhood of historic houses that have been preserved and there are a few employees acting in character from different time periods. We went to the corner store and learned how to get our food rations during WWII, we saw chickens, we learned how they cooked and what they ate in even earlier centuries, and we also got a simple demonstration on weaving! We even learned that in the taverns they used to pass around a bowl of rum for everyone to sip on!

Original homes on original land. Great historical value. Thoughtfully preserved and presented in a 'hands on' environment. Presenters were knowledgeable and friendly. You must enjoy this one to appreciate the preservation.

Beautifully upkept part of history. Really takes you back in time. All the staff are well educated on the history; it's fascinating to talk to people to capture what times back then were really like. Your admission is good for two days and I fully took advantage of that because there was much to explore. I'll be coming back next year. Highly recommend.

Very cool museum take you back in time, and Charles, was Absolutely great person for the one house. So passionate and very knowledgeable on what went on. Then went to the grocery store. As you walk into the store you hear someone talk not sure where it's from and then you see the lady behind the counter. She was excellent too. Great choices for those 2 houses those people were great. Made the hole visit. Don't forget to by Charles book in the gift area.

This was a major surprise and treat for my wife, mother-in-law and myself. We enjoyed coming here and seeing the history of this area over 5 centuries. We walked around for about 3 hours taking it all in and just submerging ourselves in the past. They have done an amazing job preserving and restoring these homes and buildings. It really gave you a sense of what life was actually like in the different time periods. If you are ever in the area or thinking about coming, this place is a must do!!! Also, say hi to Mrs. Tucker when your there.

Fantastic museum! Our kids are aged 6 & 8 and they loved it here. Plenty of houses & gardens to explore, very nice staff & plenty of parking. We fully enjoyed our time here which was just under two hours! The green house was my favorite but I cannot stress enough how well maintained and beautiful all of the grounds were!

I first visited Strawberry Banke in a 4th grade field trip back in 2000 and it was one of those trips that really stuck with me. Anyone can read about 1700s to 1950s history, it is another thing to experience it firsthand. To see what has changed or in some cases, not changed is something else. You can clearly see that construction techniques and technologies have changed over the centuries. Then when looking at the wood working tools, nothing has changed there from the 1700s. The 1940s WW2 era store may surprise a lot of people with what brands and items still exist. There is a bit of walking involved as it is a museum spread over an entire colonial village, but the walking is worth it to see everything. The staff and actors are knowledgeable of the history of life during these times and there is much that can be learned from everyone.
