AC Hotel by Marriott Portsmouth Downtown/Waterfront

Great hotel. Great amenities (nice bar in lobby; great rooftop restaurant and bar). Perfect location, only a few minutes walk to all that Portsmouth has to offer. Super clean. Very comfortable rooms.

I stayed at the AC Hotel for an overnight for a friends 65th birthday. The service was impeccable. The front desk team, Trevor, Eric and all of the staff went out of there way to make our time special for our friend. I would go back and stay their again. In a day when customer service can be iffy, the staff at the AC demonstrates positively outrageous service.
I want to Thank the whole staff at this hotel for making our girl trip so special.

Always enjoy staying at the AC Hotels across the country. Each location always have amazing Staff and thier Breakfast bar is always delicious. This location the room smelled fresh and very well cleaned. We arrived 5 hours ahead of schedule and we were lucky they had additional rooms available. The front desk staff moved our family onto the current rooms available on the same floor. The gym was great for my morning workout and the valet service provided my family and I to pour out the car and into the showers without hauling our luggage across the parking garage and hotel. They have several locations for you to sit and talk or just relax alone. Overall two thumbs 👍 up... highly recommend 👌

This hotel is a posh Marriott property in a great location in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Everything about it is swanky. From the lobby to the bar downstairs, the rooftop bar and restaurant, and the rooms, it’s one of the nicest Marriott properties I’ve stayed in. And I am a platinum Marriott member for life, so I stay at Marriott a lot. The only recommendation I might have is they could improve their craft beer list; what they had was fairly standard stuff. There’s a lot of great craft beer in New England and they could up their game there. But other than that, everything else, including the Conference Rooms for the meetings we had were top-notch. Love it.

Very nice and clean hotel. Lobby was modern with a nice fireplace and a bar. Walking distance to a ton of restaurants and bars downtown. Great staff that were very polite and friendly.

Did a weekend trip here. The hotel was so clean and new. The staff was friendly. Complimentary fruit infused water and coffee for guests. The hotel has two bars, one casual on the main floor next to a fire place and one on the rooftop depending on the vibe you are looking for. Our stay was quiet and located not far from any of the shops or restaurants. Just a few minute walk. I would return!

First time staying at this hotel. AC chain is really great and this location didn't disappoint. Hotel was immaculate as was our room. All the staff was super friendly and engaging. Valet parking crew was very outgoing and super responsive. Location of hotel is great. In walking distance of all the shops and eateries. Highly recommend this hotel if you are planning to stay in Portsmouth. No doubt we will be back.

This hotel was very Beautifully designed and meticulously maintained. From the friendly staff, to the upscale decor the hotel was worth the stay. From the moment we arrived the outside atmosphere was inviting as well as the inside. Definitely would stay again in the future and would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable stay.

Nice hotel located just outside city center. I like that it's location is tucked away but very walkable wherever you need to go. It's location lends to it being quieter too which was nice. Still provides a good view of parts of the city.

The staff were all great. I travel a lot and the primary reason for me writing this is the people here made the difference. From the valet (which btw you must valet no other option) to the housekeeping staff, everyone was great.

Pros:
- Room was beautiful and clean, Bathroom too. If I could design my perfect hotel room , it would be the 1 king room at this AC Marriott.
- Outlets and charging is everywhere in the room. Leave the plug strip at home , bring your chargers and USB-A cables , you'll be styling.
- EV charging : included with valet parking. Just ask and if there's a spot , you'll wake up to your car all charged up. It's a 7kw unit btw. You cannot park here (it's a bylaw) but valet team had no issues with this.
- Hydration station: I drink a lot of water and having a room with ice AND filtered water to fill water bottles was great.
- Rooftop bar/restaurant. This is a must see if you stay here. Good team there and really great views inside and out. There are 2 ways to get there too, be sure to look for signs on your floor.
- Food: Only had breakfast here but what I had was surprisingly good. The breakfast opened late the day I was there and were in a frenzy but still polite and accommodating to guests. That's hard to do. Again, strong staff here.

Cons:
- Unload area/Lobby: Due to the location of the hotel being fully on street there is no covered unload area. If it's raining and a busy check in/out or valet cycle the lobby area is a bottleneck.
- Location. This honestly was not a con for ME. I liked the location! As noted, I like that it's not against a main/busy area. The older parties in my group were not so much in favor of the extra block we had to walk to get to things. So fine, 'll mention it here.
- Price : You get what you pay for. Was about 450 a night (plus valet) when I stayed. I did love the hotel but would have stayed longer had the rates been a little closer to the more centralized hotels which topped out closer to 380-400. That's where that valet fee starts to sting.

There is a large open lot next door for 30$ a day , but for the extra 10$ and tip it was worth it to keep the car close.

Stayed their recently for a weekend wedding. Very modern decor and ambiance. Staff was exceptional. One particular girl in reception went above and beyond. Her name was Rian. I would stay there again for sure the next time we take a driving vacation.

The AC Hotel is the perfect venue for you and your wedding guests. My husband and I got married in late July 2022. Our venue was in South Berwick, ME (about 30 minutes away) and we wanted our guests to stay in the lively Portsmouth, NH. We got linked up with Katrin, who made every step of the process easy and seamless. She helped us to book a room block for us and our guests. While expensive, I would say that it was absolutely worth it due to how nice the hotel and workers were and the proximity to downtown Portsmouth.

The rooms were clean, huge, and had everything you would need. How easy it was to navigate downtown Portsmouth makes this location key. Some of our guests stayed in other hotels in Portsmouth which were also very accessible to events we had at the AC. Attached to the hotel is the Rooftop at The Envio- an awesome rooftop bar where we ended up doing our first look photos (which came out awesome!) We had our afterparty at the Barrio (a stone's throw away) so it was very easy to shuffle home after a long night (again: location, location, location!)

The morning after our wedding, we hosted our Farewell Brunch at the AC Hotel in one of the banquet rooms. My mom is not easy to impress- but she still jokes that this brunch was like “another wedding”. Firstly, Katrin made sure everything was all set up and beautiful. My mom was allowed in a little early to place our centerpieces from the night before as extra decoration (although the room itself was so beautiful it hardly needed it!) Anika (sp?) and the staff even helped her move things around. The brunch staff was fabulous- they were helpful and kind- accommodating and awesome! The food was phenomenal. I know what you’re thinking- how could the food be phenomenal at an after wedding brunch? When I tell you almost all of our guests commented on how great everything was- that’s an understatement. Fresh fruit, sausage and bacon, eggs, pastries, a yogurt and granola station, coffee, juices- you name it! This food much succeeded in quality and taste in any other hotel brunch I have attended. I promise I’m not saying that because it was my wedding!

I would not hesitate to recommend the AC Hotel for your wedding hotel room block, post wedding brunch and anything in between. We loved it so much we’ve made the trip back a few times and we will be sure to be back soon.

This place is fabulous. Friendly staff, clean rooms but that bed though was so comfortable... We loved our stay!

The staff is so kind and the wedding we attended was so beautiful. Foods good and the rooms were very clean. If I’m ever visiting Portsmouth again I would like to stay here.

This was a pleasurable stay with friendly and knowledgeable staff! I made reservations for the wife and I for our 21st anniversary and they gave me suggestions for where I could get flowers and places to eat!
The hotel is minutes walking to the downtown which has everything you could need, Portsmouth is a jem. We would stay here again and probably will! Thank you!

Excellent accommodations! Super plush pillows, amazing mattresses. Flat screen tv had an amazing picture quality. Above all, the room was cozy, well sound-proofed and I really didn’t want to go home!

Had a wonderful time there this weekend.
We had room 546 which is a top floor suite on the corner over looking Portsmouth and the water from all angles. It was perfect.
Beautifully decorated, spacious with a modern clean modern feel.
The staff are polite, professional and very attentive. The rooftop bar is excellent with good choices for beer, wine & food. Overall extremely happy we chose AC Marriott. Will definitely be back

What a beautiful hotel and fantastic location. I'm honestly flabbergasted at the negative reviews. The hotel is very new and in pristine condition. It's SO clean and the design is modern and sophisticated. The entrance with the beautiful fireplace is lovely, and the rooms are spacious and high end. We had an amazing top floor corner suite with beautiful views of the water, and the hotel is in walking distance to everything downtown Portsmouth has to offer. The service is also excellent. Chris greeted us when we arrived and got us checked in right away and offered some recommendations. Very friendly! Would highly recommend this hotel.
