What a nice surprise when we checked in. Beautiful boutique inn located within walking distance to everything we needed while traveling. The owner’s were more than accommodating providing us with places to go with our fur babies. Would love to come back when we can spend more time in the area.

Great Little Inn - Great location
Stayed here on the penultimate night of our Spring Break Roadtrip. Wow, what a surprise. We booked two rooms for our party of 5 and were both on the second floor. The Inn was centrally located, easy to check in/out, and parking on premises.
Best yet was Location!

We couldn't have asked for a better stay at The Inn! The place was so comfortable, clean, had all the amenities we wanted and was beautifully decorated. The location couldn't have been better walking distance to all that we wanted to see in Portsmouth. In addition, it was super easy to check in and check out. It was the first time we went on vacation with our infant and it was the perfect set up (and appreciated the ramp for the stroller to get in and out of the 'apartment' we were in !). We'll be back for sure!

Had a first class stay at The Inn Downtown. We loved every aspect of this beautiful inn. Our “apartment” was sparkling clean. And clean makes me very happy. Beds and linens were super luxurious. Overall the inn was extremely quiet, we barely heard or saw other guests. The location is central to all the fun in Portsmouth. We found our go to accommodations when we come back home to visit!

We had never been to Portsmouth before and were passing through for one night on a family road trip. We took a chance on this hotel, based on photos and other reviews. I wanted something charming and not just a chain hotel. We absolutely loved it! The location can't be beat for walking around and exploring downtown. The room was beautifully updated with a lot of great amenities (lovely bathroom products, a noise machine, coffee maker, etc). We were on the top floor, so there were a lot of stairs, but we were aware of this before arriving, so that was no surprise or problem. It was quiet and very comfortable for our family of 4. I wish we could've stayed longer! We would most definitely choose to stay here again.

This is our second time staying here; we love this place; the rooms are impeccable, and there is nothing but the best in products and treatment. My wife loved the roses, and they are still doing well back home. The location is perfect, walking distance to shops and restaurants on the water. This place pays attention to the details. We will be back!

What an adorable inn! Although we didn't have much use for the kitchenette, I loved the studio apartment feel and how nicely it was decorated so it didn't feel like a typical, sterile hotel. The bed was comfortable, the shampoo and conditioner were of excellent quality, and the room itself was clean and serene. The location was perfect--right in the downtown area--and the building itself was neither too large nor too small. If I'm ever in the Portsmouth area again, I would definitely rent here again.

This was the perfect place to stay for our Portsmouth getaway. The room was spacious, clean, and cozy! Check-in. was incredibly easy (we paid for early check-in which was especially convenient) and the location was ideal. Walkable distance to restaurants, shopping, etc. We will definitely be back!

What a perfect and affordable place to stay for a visit to Portsmouth. The location is an easy walk to downtown and all the best restaurants and stores. The room was beautiful and the parking lot made traveling back and forth super easily.

My husband and I traveled for the first time with our 1 year old son and the rooms layout with the full kitchen was so accommodating for him and made our trip that much more enjoyable for our family. We were even able to easily add a pack and play for him to sleep in when we booked our room, which was so helpful to not have to worry about where he’d sleep.

Doug, Abby and their team were great with communicating check in and check out and any instructions, recommendations we could need for our stay and exploring the town. We will absolutely be back to stay again.

Thank you!

Whenever we go back to Portsmouth we won't stay anywhere else! Absolutely loved this place! We stayed in a dog friendly room for our mini getaway after our wedding. The room is AMAZING and has such a cool blend of a historic building with modern furnishing and design. Super relaxing and the ideal location to walk to anything downtown. Service was great, they even left us a congratulations note! We extended the trip by another day because we loved it so much but we honestly could've stayed longer!

We had a wonderful stay at the Inn Downtown! The room was exactly as pictured, and I mean exactly. More importantly, it was exceptionally clean! All amenities were top notch and the bed was incredibly comfortable! Perfect location, right downtown and walking distance to everything, yet quiet. The owner was fabulous and responded to emails within minutes. We switched lodging plans last minute and spent the extra money to stay here and so glad we did. Worth the price, but not overpriced in my opinion after seeing it in person! We could not have been happier with our stay and it is now my preferred place to stay in Portsmouth. Highly recommend!

This is how you do it. We absolutely loved the Inn Downtown. Beautiful historic building with updated studio apartment sized room with a full kitchen. There is nothing run of the mill here. We stayed in apartment 9 at the top of the house. It was very cool looking and has an amazing view. The hustle and bustle of Downtown Portsmouth is a very short walk but somehow the place is quiet and peaceful. Doug and Abby were super helpful and responsive to any questions we had. Doug even helped us plan our Saturday night out! We were already huge fans of Portland and now we're huge fans of the Inn Downtown. Staying anywhere else would just be a disappointment. We will be back! Thanks!!

Our stay at The Inn Downtown was perfect. As a New England native, now living in the Pacific Northwest, the architecture of the historic building and the location were exactly what I had been craving! We stayed in the penthouse with in-unit laundry for 5 nights and were able to make ourselves right at home immediately upon arrival. The snacks and beverages available for purchase are reasonably priced and allow for guilt-free consumption. The bedding and bed were cozy and comfortable. The living area provided ample space for relaxing and was perfect for our UNH kiddo to spend a couple nights with us. The location could not be better, everything in downtown Portsmouth is easily walkable and so convenient. The kitchen was perfect for making light breakfasts and coffee, and could have supported preparation of larger meals, but we were mostly eating out. Other thoughtful touches included a white noise machine - which is helpful if you're sensitive to sounds or easily disrupted while sleeping. The windows also offer significant sound protection - they were repairing siding on a historic home next door and I never heard a lick of it! The parking situation was great - the ability to easily and quickly get in and out, without having to wait for valet, or walk to a parking garage, is also a lovely feature.

One tiny suggestion for management is to add a couple towel bars in the bathroom, since there is ample wall space - I would have liked to have more space for drying towels and laundry items that were more delicate.

Overall, a 10/10 experience that lives up to the promised "aparthotel" concept. We will be back for sure!

Extremely satisfied with each of our stays at the Inn!
Clean and comfortable and very accommodating to kids and pets!
Walk right into down town from your Inn, you can’t beat that!!
The rooms here are way better then the big franchise places, traveling with kids and pets it’s a huge perk to have a washer and dryer in your room, not to mention a really great kitchenette. The soaps/shampoos are great having sensitive skin, there products left us feeling clean and refreshed and not overly dried out! I could go on and on but come try it for yourself!

Stayed at The Inn in October. The apartment was clean and spacious, very nice to have room to spread out. Location was fantastic, park your car in their lot and walk everywhere. Highly recommended.

Wow! Had a long international flight home and we were looking for a place to crash for the night. Booked this place a few minutes before arriving - self check in was painless. The room is larger and nicer than hotels priced much higher in the area - basically a modern studio apartment. Exposed brick and an industrial feel, decor is on point. We didn’t have time to stop for snacks or beverages and the room is outfitted with most everything you could need. 10/10, will be coming back for a non-impromptu stay in the future.

We booked last minute for our 10th anniversary and I had been eyeing this property for a future stay, We took a chance and a room was open for that weekend! We are now hooked. Doug was very kind and professional when booking and all the instructions for entry were clear and easy to follow. It is a contact-less check in style and we loved it! The room was large, stylish, well thought out and very comfortable. Beautiful access to a walk able Portsmouth. We had a great time. We will without a doubt stay again and look first to book his other properties when we're in those areas.

We can’t wait to visit and stay here again. It’s the perfect location, walkable to almost everything you need and want. The studio itself was clean, beautifully decorated, and the bed was so comfortable!

The INN was absolutely perfect. It has the exact right vibe for Portsmouth. It’s a vintage style building that is modern and comfortable inside without losing its rustic charm. I wanted to find a place to stay that reflected a New England feel, and this was exactly it. Thank you so much, and I HIGHLY recommend staying here. We will be back!
