Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant

This place here delivers on all levels. Great customer service as soon as you walk in the door. We sat at the bar high tops and the bar tender was prompt to take our drink orders. The food was amazing. Delicious and very very generous portions. The price was very well balanced given the quality of the food and the attention to detail and the large portions.

Well, work now has me in Katy, TX. As I often do, I always try a restaurant I've never been before. Decided to have dinner at Abuelos. I ordered the chicken calabasa. The food was great, although they were a little skimpy on the portions, so I gave only 4 stars. I sat at the bar area, and Jennifer, the bartender, was sweet and gracious. I would definitely come back.

Enjoyed the food and very courteous and cheerful team. Enchiladas plate is big, enough for two to even kind of 3, but the fajitas for two was kind of two normal buddies not two greedy ones!
Enjoyed our weekend night, they really went above and beyond.

Food and staff are still very good and as I expected, the only thing I was not expecting was that they did not serve carne asada! Service is still good.

The place is very nice and large inside, not your typical cheap Tex-Mex joint. The food was delicious and different. It is fairly priced as well. The waitress was very nice and attentive. A nice change of venue for us.

This was our first visit, and we were impressed by the atmosphere when we first walked in. Our waiter, Conner, was exceptional. He was well knowledgeable of the menu and even offered recommendations. Thank you, John, for taking the time to acknowledge us and the fact it was our first visit. We will be back. Thank you for a wonderful exceptional experience and evening.

Most unique taste and unexpected flavor for Tex-Mex. This is a fancy place and the food was so incredible it was far above anything I've had before. I had the steak chimichanga and it was emotionally excellent. Our waitress Kristen was an absolute Pro! So kind and sweet that she added to this amazing experience.

If you are looking for Tex MEX of a higher caliber, swing in here. Easy parking, fancy and clean establishment, amazing food, and a Pro Staff.

Great service! Food was really good! This is one of our new favorite Mexican restaurants! The music was at a perfect tone. Salsa amd the green salsa were fantastic! I had the Pollo del Mar and it was so good!

I swung by Abuelo's for a quick bit while I was traveling west on 10, and that turned into an experience! First off is the atmosphere - very classy vibe in a laid back way, and the bar is visually stunning. The lighting is perfect for after work cocktails, a casual business meeting, or a first date.

As I texted my friends while waiting on my margarita and queso (also great, BTW, but more on that in a bit...), I realized that my mouth was watering from the amazing smells in the restaurant. I realized at that point that this joint was a lot more than your typical Tex-Mex grub hole.

Now...I love me some good trashy Tex-Mex, it's what I grew up on, but well refined Tex-Mex is something special. And hard to find. You can get authentic Mexican food without looking too hard, but finding good....genuinely GOOD Tex-Mex is like finding hen's teeth.

Back to that queso. It was delish!! Nothing to write home about, and it was the low light of my meal, but solidly Tex-Mex....not cheap Velveeta, but not uber-classy. Just right. What I LOVED about ordering the queso (and perhaps this comes with the ubiquitous bowl of chips that every Mexican joint is known for) but there was a sampler of salsas, as well as the large bowl of house salsa. A wonderful intro into my meal!

Now, I judge Mexican joints on their chimichangas. It's just how I roll. The chimichanga that Abuelo's serves is A-FREAKING-MAZING! I've had some very good steak or "fajita-steak" chimis before, but the quality of the beef in this fried burrito was phenomenal, and would stand up to the flavour profile at any Taste of Texas or Ruth's Chris. I can't decide if I'm disappointed about the amount of cheese in the chimi....there was A LOT. And it may have overwhelmed sine of the beef. But it was phenomenal as well. Seriously, my new favorite chimichanga.

Unfortunately, there was no room for dessert, but I didn't plan on dessert. Next time, I'll plan my business differently.

I've never had chicharrones with Queso before but I will tell you I can't have queso any other way now. That just set the stage for success in my book. Food was great from Start to Finish. I will be visiting here again.

First time we have dined here. Chips and a variety of salsas, Queso Diablo dip, quesadillas and fajitas…all of it delicious! Wait staff is amazing, food came out hot and sizzling. Flan for dessert…yum! Will go back!

Went there this past weekend for a birthday celebration of about 18 people. Nice quiet room, excellent server!! Food was great. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed our evening in the semi circle bench seats.
Kids all shared a grande sampler. Everything we ate was good. The chips and sauce was good as well. The green salsa was a major hit. Our waiter was one of the best we have had in Months.

I ordered the four enchiladas beef plate with rice and beans then I ordered the taco plate with two tacos with extra tamales and the jalapeno cheese balls as appetizer they just kind of melt in your mouth the staff is very friendly and helpful and courteous and was helping me to celebrate my birthday do I

We have been ordering take out for a while but we've never been in the restaurant physically and it didn't disappoint us. It is a beautiful restaurant with good food ans great service. We ordered the guacamole as an appetizer and the double fajitas for two as the main dish. The main dish had generous portions and were very tasty.

We are here last Sunday afternoon, the margaritas are fantastic, we have the triple fajitas which were amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant for Mexican food. Been here multiple time and never had a bad meal!

The food was delicious. Our server Kevin did a great job! Tried their El Jefe margarita and it was great.

Food was delicious. Four sauce choices come with chips. Service was great. No wait. Drinks were pricey, but comparable, and tasty. Atmosphere is pleasing and environment clean.
