Pet Supplies Plus Royal Oak

Xavier & Xavier: Two warm-hearted Pet Supplies individuals going above and beyond to help my dog Kerby after his surgery. Kinda wonder if they are named after Professor X of the X-Men. A man always rescuing others prior himself. Thank you, and Happy Valentine’s Day.

I popped into this PSP location while I was running other errands in the area. The staff here was amazing, extremely helpful and very polite. I could not have been more pleased with my experience. I forget the employees' names, but whoever was working in the evening on 1/13/2024, thank you for all of your help! To the manager of this store: each of those employees deserve a raise! Again, I could not be more pleased with the service provided.

This Pet Supplies Plus is NOT corporate run and it shows! The husbandry of their fish, invertebrates, amphibians, and reptiles far exceeds that of any big box store. There are no rodents, mammals, or birds.

The hermit crabs had both salt & freshwater, a climbing wall, and fresh food. All of the reptile/ amphibian/ invert tanks had live potted plants, succulents, and natural substrates. All had noticeably clean water. The tanks were too small as they are the same style as all stores but they were well maintained and not overstocked (I could only find one creature per tank for the lizards and amphibians). The fish in tanks were all treated with medication upon receipt from the supplier and the tanks were immaculate.

And the biggest measure of a pet store-how they keep the bettas- was a pleasant surprise! They were still in containers, however they were at least twice the size of the average ones, probably about 8 inches long by 3-4 wide. None had any fin rot (not even the crown tail) and all had lights keeping them warm. They were bright tailed and active. I was told the water is changed every other day with primed water.

The betta display itself had all sorts of items front and center such as dial-a- treat, Indian almond leaves, betta log floats, Prime, etc. I didn't see a single bowl or cheap flake food on the display! The manager we spoke with was a passionate aquarist who loved discussing fish care and how meaningful their lives are to her. Clearly, she is doing her best to advocate for better fish-keeping.

Furthermore, the dog and cat supplies also don't disappoint! We bought several fresh baked goods for our dog and were happy to see that they weren't pushing things like rawhide up by the register. There was also a very modern (though small) self-serve dog wash station.

Overall this is a very clean store with the healthiest animals I've yet to see. Of course I always advocate for adopt- not shop wherever possible, but if one were wanting to shop for pets, this is the way to do it.

Pet Supplies Plus-Royal Oak is my "Go To" store for all of my 3 senior cat's needs and wants. Everyone from the Store Managers to the stock help and the cashiers are willing to go the extra mile to accommodate theirs customers and their furbabies.
It's a worthwhile trip to check out their well-stocked shelves AND they do price-matching. 👍😊

I’ve utilized this Pet Supplies Plus location quite often over the last year and I have nothing but praises to say for them. Especially the manager. He is very attentive, extremely kind, and will help solve any problem that may arise. Definitely recommend this store and the team that makes it as special as it is!!

Love supporting a locally owned business rather than a large chain. They carry the best brands, offer coupons, and have friendly employees.

Easy parking right next to the store, which is amazing for being right on Woodward. Clean and relaxing atmosphere while I shopped for my kitty. This is my new go-to pet store!

They have a good variety of hay and pellets for my bunny. You can find coupons on back of receipts or in their emails.

Pet Supplies Plus has been a part of the local community for a very long time. Inventory is always great, they have a great selection of products and their prices are reasonable. They are pet friendly, so feel free to bring your animal in, but be aware that others may also be present. Staff is courteous and kind. If you can avoid the allure of ordering your pet supplies online to be shipped to your home, this is a great place to shop local.

Helpful staff that goes the extra step to assist customers. 06/9/23, Update: Shelves are fully stocked with a wide choice of items. I found all of the products I was looking for, and many item's on sale. (11/20/23) The strength of a locally owned store is evident here, My local Pet Supplies Plus survived the hard days and now back to full strength. Same excellent staff, fully stocked shelves, and the best rewards program around.
