National Car Rental - Detroit Metro Airport (DTW)

When renting a car, one wants two things: easy pick up and pleasant return. That's it. National Car Emerald Club does that perfectly. First, there is almost always a bus within a minute of exiting the terminal, Second, from the time one gets on the bus, till the time one leaves the lot with a car, is about 10 minutes. Easy pick and solicitous people at the gate. Lastly, no matter what hour one returns the car, there is always a very polite person waiting to accept your return. Just rent here. I have never found another agency able to do business this way National does. And, I thank them.

I had an excellent experience from the time I picked up my vehicle until I dropped it off. Ebony was great when I finished my rental. Detroit Metro airport is the best airport in the country to rent a car!

Had a great experience with this location. I had a special car reserved as an Emerald Aisle member. Had to wait less than 3 minutes for them to get the car around. Airport shuttle was prompt, warm and efficient. And the car was excellent. Super clean and in great condition and met our needs perfectly.

I travel frequently and always use National. On a recent trip to Detroit, I had a small issue with my rental but nothing that impacted my visit itself. Upon my return to drop off the vehicle, the attendant asked about my experience and when I explain the inconvenience, Ebony went above and beyond showing empathy and concern even though it wasn't anything critical or anything she could have changed during the visit itself. Her demeanour and efforts to make my experience better upon the return was nothing short of exceptional and she provided the right level of concession to the inconvenience especially when I was not expecting anything. I applaud National and their service teams to always make things right even when they don't have to. Cheers to Ebony!

I had to make a trip to Detroit during a very bad period of weather. Upon arriving to the National Rental Car location, the team worked quickly to get me a car with navigation and one that could handle the icy roads. They were courteous, kind, and so so helpful to someone who did not know the area. Thank you National for making what could have been an awful experience into a pleasant one. I will always use National for my car rental needs.

Everything worked fantastic. No wait on either end ( pickup and drop ). The car was in great shape. I am and always have had a great experience with National. They continue to improve and I don’t have any complaints.

First time customer after a long time loyalty to Budget. Budget customer service was terrible (to say the least) my last time out. So after Budget declined to make things right and retain my loyalty - I jumped ship.

Wow! Wish I did this years ago. Customer service is light years ahead of Budget. The Emerald Club is easy to join and well worth it! Clean, dependable cars. Free water. Courteous, friendly staff.

How happy am I? ended up with this beauty. Very friendly staff. I love National and prefer not to use any other car rental agency.

Had international flight delay, causing us to miss our connection and were rebooked. We were forced to rent a car and drive home as no other flight to our final destination was available. Booked very easily online, was able to grab the car right from the lot and finish checkout at the parking lot exit gate. Efficient and great price. Made a stressful day a bit easier to stomach.

Amazing experience all around. I was checked in by Dylan Turner and he was very professional and efficient and when I returned our vehicle, we were assisted by Marco. He got me in and out and even helped my husband and I with our bags. Not to mention they all came with smiles on their faces which doesn't seem like much but really makes a difference.

Very efficient pick up and drop off. People were very nice and friendly, especially Ebony, at drop off. Busses were right there and we got to the terminal quickly.

I'm an emerald club member. From the airport I went straight to the emerald club check-in.
A very wonderful lady named *Shalonda* helped me with check-in. Being an emerald club member, she showed me 4 different SUV to pick from. She was very patient while I asked a few questions about my trip to Toronto, and Toll charges.
All in all, very good customer service.

This was the easiest car rental I have ever done. Bus at terminal was right there. I was dropped right off at the Emerald aisle to choose my clean vehicle then off I went after checking out with a very pleasant attendant.
And returning the vehicle was just as simple.

Had a good experience with National at DTW this week. My bill came through messed up, with a mysterious $200 upgrade charge. They listened well, and worked through the mess. After about 15 minutes of digging into the issue, they were able to make the appropriate corrections and refund. The office staff and manager were completely professional and very friendly. Thanks to them for fixing what seemed to be a messy situation.

I inadvertently got on the Enterprise shuttle and upon arrival at Enterprise, one of the employees immediately offered (with a smile) a ride over to National. Upon arrival, Liz was incredibly polite in helping with my choice of vehicle and everyone upon turn in was helpful including taking my bag from the trunk and proactively pointing out the shuttle I needed to the airport. Excellent service all around!!

Best ever rental car experience. Upon arrival to pick up my rental car I was greeted very politely by a team member, who promptly pulled up my vehicle. The vehicle was precisely the make/model I had reserved. For the rental return - again, quick and easy. Best ever rental car experience.

We rented a car from National recently. As always, it was a good experience, primarily due to the wonderful staff. Our car was clean on pickup and we had our choice from the Emerald Aisle. Our shuttle came quickly at both ends of the trip. We unwittingly left a briefcase with laptop in the shuttle, but our driver immediately called to the dropoff area and then returned us there to retrieve it. They are truly on the ball and National is always our first and preferred choice for rentals. Great job!!

The great service started when several folks actively greeted us as we were getting off the bus. They thanked us for renting at National and asked if they could help in any way. Wow, what surprising service today!
My car choice was right there. It was clean, in great shape, and performed flawlessly during the several hundred miles I drove it.
I returned the car very early on an extremely stormy morning. Despite the early hour, there was a friendly, helpful guy right there to check in the car and give me a receipt on the spot. Fortunately, the return area was covered, right up to the waiting area for the bus.
With roads flooded and closed all around the airport, our driver took a circuitous back road to our terminal. We were one of the last groups to make it into the airport that morning.
Overall, a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Recently, I had only been sporadically renting from National, but based on my past couple experiences with them, they are now my first choice again! Thanks!
