Green Hill Park

Was in town for five days with our dog and child. Found this park 8 minutes from our hotel.
Was very surprised to find a trail along the Roanoke river to walk our dog, yet easy enough for our 3 yr old to walk along, too.
Our child loved their little swings and slides.

Beautiful park with a lot of space. I went for the Annual Kite Festival with my kids. The event was well done with plenty to do and lots of vendors!

Great park for all ages. My older kids enjoyed going and sitting/ floating in the deeper water. While my littles loved digging in the sand and playing in the rocks! I love there is something for everyone. The fields and the parks were a great place for games and tag and just releasing energy for hours!

Went to community yard sale. Park, as always well maintained, grass was cut, trash emptied. Park is a great addition to the county P&R department. I never have any qualms about attending anything put on there.

This is one of the nicest playgrounds we've gone to in the area yet! There are so many different things for the kids to do and everything is in excellent condition. It's a really well maintained park. There were bathrooms over by the baseball diamond but we didn't try to use them so I'm not sure of their quality or if they're even available to use when there isn't a game.

Great place for walking, sitting by the river, wading, picture taking, playing sports, taking the kids to the park. Spread out areas with beautiful mountain views and ample parking.

Family friendly and beautiful landscape with trails to explore!

Great spot to ride bikes, picnic, walk trails, and get into the Roanoke River. Dog friendly. playgrounds for kids. Nice wide open spaces to fly kites and sometimes you will see people flying RC planes.

I was there to watch the state finals for VA Cross Country, and the park was very clean with plenty of parking. This would be a great place to let your kids get their energy out(supervised).

This is one of the larger parks in Roanoke County and seems to have plenty of room for everything! There are athletic fields, picnic shelters and a playground. Part of the Roanoke River Greenway runs through the park. There is also an equestrian center. Plenty of parking available.
Best part may be the large open field at the entrance which is used for events like the Blue Ridge Kite Festival (photos attached).

Huge park with walking trails, playground, several ballfields, river frontage for fishing, a picnic shelter has to be reserved/rented to be guaranteed. Lots of open grassy areas. Porta potties are the only restrooms.

The river trail is about 3/4 of a mile and links to the Paw Paw trail. The PP trail heads up the hill for a lovely hike. Gorgeous place. Oh- and lots of green space and play equipment for kiddos.

Great park for dog walking and enjoying various trails along the river. Huge open fields for off leash dog training and other outdoor activities.

1st annual Parkside Picks was great. Parking was organized and vendors were varied. Looking forward to this new annual event.

We will travel to be here. My kids and I love this park. Our favorite is the kite festival every year. But the greenways here are inviting and it's such a lovely piece of our home state.

Awesome place to swim, hike, cookout, play and enjoy the riverfront nature.

Beautiful scenery! Walk the green way, play at the park, hang out in pavilions, catch a baseball or soccer game, and lots of trails to walk, run or bike on! Do a picnic in the field too!

Green Hill Park is along the south bank of Roanoke River in western Roanoke County VA. It is very close to west edge of city of Salem.
Great place to fish, take a walk, dogs are welcome, and there are 8 softball fields and about 3 (?) tennis courts. Plus playground equipment for children. Oh, and a few picnic tables.

We love Green Hill Park. Perfect place to walk, ride bikes, skate, and even drive RC Cars. Great trails and nice to play at the river.
