Kermit's Tremé Mother-in-Law Lounge

Go get your fill of some serious local music,
get there early for the Tuesday 6 PM show it's the one that will least likely have a line if you get there 15 minutes early. $20 gets you in, cash or card. Its mostly stand only with perhaps a dozen chairs in the small tight quarters.

Kermit is a very active participant in his bar, so do not be surprised if he's chatting it up with you at the bar or suddenly, you feel a trumpet in your ear and he's going into town, playing it with so much passion.

The guys all have such a great banter with each other. It is amazing, amusing and delightful to watch. SO much talent on this stage.

The drinks are very moderately priced, they do not give you cups of waters so be prepared to pay for bottled water.

There's food on the menu and as Irvin Mayfield says Kermit declares himself a chef 1st and a musician 2nd, so if you're lucky enough ask for what they're serving on the menu it could be his proclaimed raccoon gumbo.

We are visiting from New Hampshire and asked our friends for a "uniquely NOLA experience, and Kermit and his family of friends did not disappoint! Less busy than the French Quarter, it's easy to get to via car and also offers amazing food.

Amazing local music experience in a no frills bar/lounge. One of my favorite live music experiences ever! Large outdoor space if the weather allows, otherwise an intimate indoor area for the band. Cheap drinks, turkey neck stew available, and friendly staff!

Definitely the best night of the trip (and possibly my life😘). Kermit is a legend.

Very very very good jazz far from the typical tourist route. Kermit is a Jazz legend with millions of views on Spotify and plays there every Saturday evenings at 8PM, and it's $20 per person, cash only.

Didn't eat. Incredibly welcoming, down to earth and friendly. Cheap drinks. Nothing at all like the Blue Note, Mezzrow, or Birdland in NYC. However one of the specialist jazz experiences in my life. Go on Tuesdays to watch Kermit play some. NOLA through and through

Greatest night of my life. I can't wait to bring my daughter back there. Kermit and his family were gracious and nice. Food was good but the music was phenomenal.

Stopped in on a Saturday night as a solo traveler from NY. Been listening to Kermit for years and had never seen him perform. Setting was intimate, got to talk to Kermit before he performed. Everyone was friendly and it was a great time! Don’t hesitate to go!

Got to meet and hang with Kermit. What an amazing time we had. Not only is he one of the most talented trumpet players I have ever seen, he makes the best red beans and rice in NOLA.

Best Bloody Mary’s in town. You would think you can’t mess this drink up, but go anywhere in the French Quarter and the drink will be too spicy or too bland. This place is perfect. They get the ratios right and you will enjoy a Bloody Mary at Kermit’s.

Kermit Ruffins is superb! As is the rest of his band, including Irvin Mayfield, a great drummer and bass player, and two great pianists (or 3, counting Irvin!). Kermit is such a wonderful performer!

Words can't begin to describe the experience. Ol' school backyard jam with incredible musicians. You can feel the soul of NOLA here. If I only could do one thing in NOLA this would be it, especially if Kermit is playing. The homemade food was a bonus! Delicious red beans and rice.

Exciting music venue. Enchanting location. I walked here at night from Frenchmen Street, but I took an Uber back to my hotel afterwards. Lively atmosphere. Big patio in the back. Feels like a hidden local secret, but I’m sure it’s actually well known.

Local AF. A New Orleans institution. I've seen so many incredible performances here. This last time that I went, Kermit, Irvin Mayfield, and Herlin Riley were playing and it was 🔥. Intimate music vibes, large courtyard, stiff drinks, and lots of beautiful black folk.

This was one of the best, most personal, deeply moving, and satisfying musical experiences we had in NOLA!
