We went to Curtis Memorial Library for the Robert McCloskey exhibit which was awesome but the library also has so much more to offer.
The McCloskey exhibit runs through October and many of his original sketches are on display. The books are available to compare the original artwork to what is in the books. The display is well laid out and you follow circles on the floor to see the entire exhibit. There is a scavenger hurt kids can complete for a prize. One of the librarians told us there have been visitors from every state and several countries.
The library itself is very clean and bright. There are kids and teens sections as well as several meeting and study rooms.
In addition to books, you can also check out kitchen gadgets, and other items.
The library has a new book mobile.
The Curtis Memorial Library is a wonderful addition to the Brunswick community.

What's not to love? Curtis Memorial is a fantastic library with friendly, helpful staff, an excellent selection of books and movies, and multiple events for kids, teens, and adults. We enjoyed the magnetic poetry in the teen section during our visit today.

One of the nicest and well-stocked libraries I have ever been too. So many resources and every staff member I’ve encountered has been friendly and helpful. We go often now to visit the kids section :)

I am a HUGE fan of the Curtis Memorial Library both as a parent and a small business owner. The library is always well-stocked with books on any topic you may need and they are also VERY welcoming to the community to use their space for events. My son's scout group will be using their meeting space and I have been able to do photo sessions (headshots) there as well. I am so grateful to be a part of the Brunswick community!

"This is a wonderful library," said a woman visiting for her first time today. She's right, it's first rate. We've been going here for 15; years rather than the small library in our town. Friendly staff, well organized, lots of programs, plenty of help, quiet places to relax. In short, it is an oasis of learning no matter your age.

Very nicely renovated with lots of (COVID distanced) seats and desks as well as enclosed study rooms. Nice staff, clean facilities. Electric outlets limited in beautiful, old library section but power strips help once located. Overall a great place to read, study or work.

Curtis Memorial Library is a terrific library. Staff are courteous, helpful, smart and accommodating. If you live in Brunswick and you don't have a card, you should get one. Once life gets back to some sort of normal, it will be great to get back inside to visit with the staff. And the children's area is spectacular when it comes to special programs designed just for them.

Curtis Memorial Library is a real asset to the community. It offers so much more than books. Additional resources include a Family Resources Handbook, free/discounted museum passes, technology help, genealogy resources and lots of other great stuff too. Another nice benefit is being able to access materials from libraries all across Maine via the Minerva network. It is also a very welcoming place. Staff are very helpful and seem happy to answer questions. Volunteer opportunities are also available.

An incredible library with a very wide array services offered considering the size of the community. Many stacks and a extensive book loan program virtually ensure that you will be able to find the material desired. The children's areas are well planned and quite engaging- even before the many special events and readings. There are enough computers available to keep wait times minimal or non-existent, and although the connection rate is not lightning fast, it is sufficient for almost all tasks one would need to accomplish at the library. There are ample private nooks and desks for reading and study, as well as the stately fireplace room.

The library hosts a wonderful variety of art exhibits, has a really good collection of books, and the library staff are always helpful and interesting to talk with. They have helped me find specific titles on more than one occasion and have shared tips for getting the most out of foreign language study. Curtis feels like a second home.

All the people working at this library are friendly and helpful. They take the time to talk to you about the type of books you like to read and point some authors in that genre you may want to read!
