Nice park with many trail options, sections of the canal that Washington's company built, and nice river views. Good size parking lot that's rarely full. Wild paw paw picking in the first couple weeks of September.

My all time favorite place to hike 💚 no other place in the area compares to Seneca Regional Park! My family and I have hiked the trails more times than I can count. The trails aren't difficult and a good stroller can make it through most of it without a problem if you have little ones. The river is beautiful, the nature is serene, and it is not crowded with people. It has remnants George Washington’s Potowmack Canal, it is horseback friendly, the place is very clean, and we have never had issues with parking.

Loved hiking here. Nice hills and river views. People walk their dogs here and there's also a bridle path.

Seneca Regional Park is definitely worth hiking, walking, running, or biking! There are various trails and paths to explore from short hikes to long hikes. 🏞

I highly recommend taking a hike to see Dave Lookout which is slightly NW of the park entrance near Seneca Rd.

Seneca is now one of my top trails and parks in the area and I’m looking forward to hiking here again soon!

Popular but still a quiet walk. The paths can be difficult to follow at times as most are often just compacted dirt and the painted marks on the trees aren't always super obvious, however it's really nice. Plan for an uphill hike back to your vehicle as nearly all of the paths start as downhill treks. There are several twists and hills which keep the paths interesting with few straight line paths. There is a single paved trek that is relatively straight and downhill in which you may encounter bicycles or even horses along with other hikers. Be mindful and enjoy your walk.

A truly beautiful park located on the border with Maryland/the Potomac River. The park is in the beginning of the transition between piedmont or foothills and the coastal plain (the official transition is in neighbouring Great Falls Park), so it had lots of exposed rock which is really neat to look at on the various trails. The hills are pretty steep and are dotted in beautiful and tall beech trees with hollies below that create a really neat scene in the winter, especially when there is snow on the ground. The park is home to a lot of wildlife, from deer, coyotes, foxes, and snakes, to many types of birds, frogs, fish, and rodents. The plants are really neat as well; there are groves of native sugar maples, which are very rare in these parts as it is frequently too hot, but there are north-facing microclimates that support them. Along part of the river is the George Washington Canal, still intact hundreds of years later and is certainly worth a visit. Confederate cavalry General Jeb Stuart and his men crossed here at Rowser’s Ford en route to Gettysburg, a now infamous manoeuvre that would leave Stuart arriving two days after the fighting had begun, undoubtedly helping the Union win the battle. Nevertheless, crossing the rapids here at 2am with no losses of life was one of Stuart’s top accomplishments during the war. There are two interpretive signs in addition to a highway marker at the beginning of Seneca Road at Georgetown Pike. If riding your aluminium steed (bicycle) here as I frequently do, please be careful as Seneca despite being a country lane is very heavily trafficked with many cars speeding you by.

I have never personally had luck fishing but I have never minded as the beautiful surroundings always distract me and keep me at peace. In the neat rock formations can you find sometimes small caves, crevasses, and the little critters that call them home. Brilliant park to visit in any season, as there is always something fun and fresh to look at. Would highly recommend a visit, especially during the week and on not-optimal weather days as those keep crowds to a minimum. Cheers.

We love going to Seneca in early spring when the blue bells are at peak bloom. Our boys love it too. This is an annual tradition for us now.

Over Christmas break I needed to get kids and cousins out of the house!! Beautiful short hike to Potomac river. I remember taking them here ten years ago in the summer to splash in the water, but it might be more beautiful in the stark, open winter when we needed a to be far from electronics without getting far from home.

A lovely place for a low-medium difficulty walk of a couple of different distances. Trails are wide with a few narrow and/or steep sections; wear grippy shoes but hiking boots aren't needed for most people. If you want to dip your feet in the water there are some good places.

Went hiking here. Dog and people friendly. Highly recommend. Not crowded but not desolate either. Muddy in some spots but still great, beautiful area.

Went this park during weekend with two of my friends, it is really peacefull good track to hike, walk or run even there is trail for horse riding. If you go deep you will reach peacefull river bank. Make sure you remember the way back because there is not much walking map and signs. We really enjoyed the walk and chirping of birds, if you are lucky you may see some beautiful owls.

Just a beautiful area! We wondered off the trail a little but the spot by the river that this trail leads to is so nice. Loved it!

Another Great Hiking Day... Not as nice as Riverbend Park or Great Falls Park, but nice.

I like to ride there, Hike there, have even swam before... Great Falls is preferable, as well as Difficult Run, but this works as its closer to me. Lol.
Hope to see you guys out there! 💪

My favorite place to go with my dogs. Back trails not used very often so you get lots of solitude. Also lots of tall mature maples and oaks. Beautiful in the spring when bluebells are in bloom.

Very scenic walk. Went on a weekday and saw very few people. Many trails and not very challenging, may not be the best for little kids but older kids could make it down the trails easily.
