Dulles International Airport

Beautiful airport with modern lighting and construction. Large size with lots of gates empty even in the peak hours of flying. Train connection between gate B and C is a bit confusing as the signpost is not obvious. Takes a few minutes to fully understand the connection; if you are in a hurry, it will be bit annoying.

a large beautiful airport with a very wide list of international lines. easy and quick to get to. it links the United States with several countries around the world. a very busy airport. they use recent technologies especially when boarding such as the biometric pass. There is a chapel on site for Muslim, Christian and Jewish believers. Border police procedures are not harsh and are smooth.

Fresh and new International Airport with A, B, C, D, H, G Gates.

Behind the ticketing counters, there are TSA Pre and CLEAR.

General security (took ~5min on Thursday 5 am) in you have to walk ahead and go down. There is no need to remove any electronic equipment as the equipment is modern.

Once you clear security, you need to take the train (~2 min for Gate B)

You also can order ahead and check different restaurants and cafes. (QR CODE and restaurant list attached)

There is a water fountain and a restroom easily accessible.

Overall, total points for keeping the airport clean and fresh.

Dulles is one of the three major airports in the DMV area. On the outside it looks like a small airport but majority of the action happens in building behind the main one. They have this huge diesel engine run vehicles that moves people between main building and the terminals. They also have tram that runs to some of the gates as well. As at 2023 you can get to the airport using the metro(train). Lots of food options, friendly airport staff and overall great experience. This is one of the airport you want to arrive early because of long processing times.

Busy but well organised and maintained Washington International Airport. Serviced by regular complementary hotel shuttles besides Uber and airport authority run taxis. I had a pleasant experience travelling through the airport during my vacation.

Eero Saarinen is one of my favorite architects in the world. Dulles has one of the coolest and most amazing terminal buildings in the world. The front of the building and the interior just as you walk in are huge, wide open and look amazing from any angle.
The staff are also friendly and very helpful. Bag check was very quick and easy, and with TSA precheck, security was really quick. But once you get past security, the terminal layout and navigation can be a bit confusing but the staff are there to help and direct you to where you need to go.
Those mobile lounges are interesting and a cool mode of transportation between terminals. They are huge and they can offer pretty good views of planes and the runway ramp areas.
And if you have priority pass, it's definitely worth getting to the airport several hours early so you can check out all the different lounges that are part of the priority pass network.
Overall, Dulles is one of the best airports in the United States.

Dulles international airport is definitely a very busy airport that could use a little more thought and planning. I really appreciate the representatives at the United airlines counters, and most of the signs in this airport more easy to read and follow. It was a little confusing trying to get to the United Club, but as you can see in one of my pictures I appreciate that United airlines had staff within the Dulles airport helping people navigate the terminals.

In early 1960, I was driven out to Dulles International Airport when it was still under construction. At the time, it was located in a rural area with large farms with pastures and many evergreen trees, and it seemed miles from anywhere.

I have since flown out of Dulles on both domestic and international flights, and it remains spacious and modern looking decades later.

The airport has lots of multi-level parking garages ($6 per hour up to a maximum of $21 per 24 hours), within a short walk of the main terminal building. There are large, somewhat stuffy elevators, baggage areas, toilets, a Starbucks, Café Americana, fast food and other restaurants, airline lounges, bars, clothing stores, duty free and souvenir shops, newstands and shoeshine stands.

There are illuminated signs giving up-to-the-minute arrivals and departure times and boarding gate information, and to see if flights are on time, delayed or cancelled.

My most recent flight to Europe required a train ride to get to my boarding gate in Concourse C. I was surprised that Dulles has tripled in size from the original building.

I know airports are usually more expensive when buying snacks, bottled waters, sodas and sandwiches, but I was horrified to discover a hot dog that cost a mere $8.50 and sandwiches about $15.00. If you look elsewhere, you may find some places that charge less.

In 2023, after decades of waiting and years of construction, a Metro train station on the Silver Line was finally opened at Dulles. It is now much easier and far cheaper to get to and from the airport than having to use a taxi or Uber, and you save money on gas and parking fees. A single Metro ticket to Dulles from Washington, D.C. on the Silver Line costs $6.00.

Be prepared to do a lot of walking despite elevators, escalators, and seemingly endless moving walkways, as Dulles International Airport is huge.

Dulles International Airport is the only Washington airport with international flights.

Very well maintained airport with friendly staff who are ready to help. Cleanliness is top notch. There are a good number of lounges and lot of dining options. It’s a long walk between the gates though

Flawless transfers from Canada to Ghana and back again. Efficient, well staffed and well cared for. Couldn't have asked for more. Everything left on time and landed early, both ways (way to go United).

This airport is pretty nice and quite challenging if you do not pay attention.

Once your flight arrives, you will be getting into a terminal, then keep walking towards the shuttle bus that will take you to all terminals and the luggage 🧳 claim section. At first I thought it was a small airport but it is not at all. On the departure terminal, your airline is scheduled to take off, get there with enough time, and use the machines to print your boarding pass and the luggage 🧳 tag. Then, keep walking towards the security area, later on, go down to take a train to your actual departure terminal.

Pretty nice walk and clear instructions everywhere, but remember, this is an international airport.

Arrived in wee hours, so it was less busy yet everything was well managed. Train on time and rental buses all running smoothly.

You may not like jamming onto a "mobile lounge" after a 14 hour international flight, or waiting an hour for checked bags to come out at midnight, but these help give Dulles its unique character. Good to be near a solid international hub that generally works well, and has far better traffic than LAX.

Dulles International Airport is known as IAD Airport. It's an international Airport serving passengers to or from Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. This Airport can be very busy during peak times. It has adequate facilities to cater for the passengers inbound and outbound. A train transport usually takes passengers to departure gates and if you are arriving, same train takes you to baggage claim. Have a safe flight

Its one of the nicest airports I have been to. Just last June 2019 when I arrive I have experience a delay on my baggage but its fine since they have to check passports and legal documents. Staff are friendly and very relieving after a long wait in chairs. Over all its still a nice airport, clean and have wide parking lot.
Latest photos is when departure moments second time in this airport and first time having flights from here. Over all its a good experience.

For Luggage info:

check-in luggage is 23kl (33pounds) per bag only, they allow 2 luggage every per person.
For Hand carry bag is 7kilogram for handcarry ( 2 handcarry is allowed as long as not exceed to 7kilogram per hand carry and not too big.

What if exceed or more than they require?
You have to pay $80 per bag that exceed 23kilos/33 pounds.

I'm giving this info bcoz I saw alot of people stress about this and scary when you have to pay additional and you don't have money.
Avoid stress in your travel it should be enjoyable.

Water or any liquid is not allowed in scanning area after checking in.
5oz below is allowed only. Better put in a plastic bag sealed and put in check in bags to avoid hassle or trouble.

Visited Dulles International Airport recently and was impressed by its vastness and cleanliness. Efficient services and a well-maintained infrastructure. A commendable travel experience.

I absolutely love Dulles International Airport! It has become my go-to airport for all my international travels. The TSA staff are so friendly and helpful, and the lines move quickly. The best part is that they don't make you empty your bags or throw away your belongings like other airports in America. I don't mind driving for 5 hours from Charlotte NC (CLT) because the deals I get on my flights to the UK, Africa, and the Middle East are totally worth it.

Not too crowded and well maintained and clean. Not the busiest or flashiest airport but always a good place to land or depart from.

Dulles is a nice and well equipped airport. Easy to get around. Now Metro rail goes to Dulles. Beautiful archetecture. Check it out.
