Coming from Florida, this place was massive by comparison. Very friendly staff. The shopping area where the store is located is setup as a town so parking around the store is free street parking, but limited.

Can’t say enough good things about this location. Our goal was to purchase 2 camping tent cots. Corey and Geoff could not have made it easier. Used them on a recent camping trip (the cots not Corey and Jeff) and they were perfect. 🏆

I love REI so this is not an unbiased review.
Every store is a little different. This store has 2 levels with clothing and shoes on the upper floor and all the gear on the main floor. There’s always a good selection of anything you could possibly want for hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, and any other non redneck outdoor sport.

I was so impressed by the help and support I received. Everyone was so helpful and kind! This was the best customer service I have received from an organization in a while. Thoroughly impressed! Great selection as well. Store is so clean and organized!

The best! Knowledgeable staff, awesome selections for safe & hassle-free outdoor recreation. Also love their return policy in case of poor fit or other needs for a merchandise return.

My experience started off good with great parking at this REI. Then the customer service person was kind and helpful. Pre-ordering my supplies was easy and convenient. I appreciate having such a good store in the area.

Great selection, obviously great quality since it's REI. Also decent section with resale and clearance items.

I love the staff and all the gear. It may seem over priced but when it comes to gear you get what you pay for and a couple extra bucks now is worth the longevity. Having said that I find that the store also offers great sales from time to time and if your a member the perks are worth it!

Everyone at this store is incredibly helpful. I have rented camping gear, bought a bike and shopped here many times and everyone is incredibly helpful, courteous and willing to answer as many questions as they can. Alex at the bike shop has been super helpful as well as many others at the store. Can’t thank them enough.

Several years ago, I used to avoid shopping at REI because the prices were higher than what I could get elsewhere. Ah, how naive I was.

I do almost all of my outdoor shopping at REI now. The #1 reason for this is that they have the best return policy. I think the only place better is Costco (which obviously has very limited outdoor gear). You have an entire year to return everything and you can return it used! I don't mean just slightly used, I mean shoes covered in mud used. I wouldn't return a product at the end of its life, but it's so nice to be able to actually wear shoes on the trail before committing to them.

Plus it's nice that you can usually find an REI wherever you're traveling so you can trade in your shoes mid-trip when you realize you bought the wrong pair (like I did at this store).

Beyond that, they sell high quality stuff. If you shop the REI brand, it's usually a bit cheaper too. If you pay $20 (one time fee) to become a member, you get 10% cash back and at least 4 20% off coupons per year.

The customer service is always great. They make good recommendations and it's easy to return stuff because they just look it up on your account.

You will rarely find me buying outdoor gear elsewhere anymore.

It wasn't too hard to find what I needed; the open plan directs you to related products. I wasn't approached by an associate immediately, but he found me exactly at the right time, helping me make a decision about footprints for a tent I was buying. He was very helpful!

Claude at the rentals desk was very nice and told us about the perfect trail for our time, experience, and want to see some awesome mountains! He showed us exactly where to go on the map and made sure we were squared away with the right gear. We are definitely going to be repeat customers!

EXCELLENT STAFF FOR EQUIPMENT SUPPORT!
I had an terrific visit at REI Asheville NC store and was lucky enough to have Kyle in the mountain gear department to help me. I am new to hiking and have had several surgeries that makes getting equipment more unique. Kyle measured me and tried multiple daypacks on me until we found a perfect fit! He was with me a long time and multi-tasked both myself and my husband in fitting us perfectly. Thank you so much Kyle for all you help and support. You rock!!!!
