Small cakes for the win! My family was staying in Black Mountain between Christmas and New Years and my husband’s birthday is on New Year’s Eve. He loves German Chocolate cake and the German Restaurant didn’t have it and the cupcake shop was closed til February. Thank you Google for directing me to Smallcakes pre ordered the night before. Order was ready at pickup time and the gentleman running counter was super nice and helpful. Red Velvet and the German Chocolate were the favorites!

Yesterday 12/12/23 I went here for the first time with a friend to catch up. The moment I walked in the smell was AMAZING. The variety of cupcakes,ice cream,etc was fantastic. CJ was great super friendly and the atmosphere was so relaxing. I definitely took some cupcakes home to my family and they loved them. I will be back to try their other delicious items. I wish I would have taken a picture of the cupcakes we got but they were so good that thought went out the window lol. Thanks again Smallcakes

This place has the best cupcakes I’ve ever tasted. Every time I’m in the area I always Stop here for a cupcake or two. The staff is very friendly, and the the cupcakes are delicious and really well decorated. If you are ever in the area you have to try this bakery you won’t regret it.

My parents ordered me some birthday cupcakes and they were AMAZING. Genuinely the best I've ever had. The guy who delivered them (who I think is the owner?) Was super nice and friendly as well. Thanks man!! Enjoyed them

Oh man what a treat! I love all things chocolate so I was very excited to try the Chocolate Cream. It did not disappoint. It's like a Tasty Cake cupcake except a million times better. The chocolate frosting was rich and decadent without being too much. The cream on the inside of the cake part was a delicious surprise as well. 🤤

I also tried the strawberry shortcake (cheesecake?) option as well. It had cream cheese frosting and was also a tasty treat I won't soon forget.

Everything was packaged and served beautifully by a sweet young lady behind the counter. I can't wait to come back to Asheville so I can get more cupcakes from here!! And next time I'll pick up a sweet, dog friendly treat for my fur baby to enjoy too.

The best cupcakes I've tried in the Asheville area. Both the cupcakes and ice cream are made fresh daily, and are both amazing. They have a smash cup that combines a cupcake and two scoops of ice cream in a large cup. Gonna try that next time. Locally owned by a lovely African American couple who are clearly gifted at making cupcakes and ice cream.

DEFINITELY recommend everyone to order their cakes from this store! I had a very short notice, custom cupcake order and they delivered PERFECT cupcakes only 2 days later! I wanted a specific look for our baby's gender reveal cupcakes (gender color hidden inside!!) and well, just look how perfect they were!! Very thankful for the kindness and attention to detail. You made our day very special. We were travelling from Chattanooga, TN to Pittsboro, NC and made a quick stop in Asheville to pick up. I am blown away at how perfect these were!! 👀 Look no further this is it, the bakery you need and have been looking for!! Icing is flavorful and not too sweet, flavors just enough to be on point without being overpowering, cake is super moist. Friendly service. 5 star!!

Picked up some cupcakes for a small pregnancy announcement celebration, everyone was so happy they were from here, the best cupcakes in AVL 💕 the cake in the jar was way too sweet, it was like 75% icing and 25% cupcake. My friend’s husband had a headache from too much sugar. He said it tasted good though lol.

My favorite sweet spot!! Service is always quick and kind. Catered cupcakes for our employees, and they were so accommodating!! Would recommend to everyone I know!! A spot you have to try!! Absolutely delicious!!

Small cakes is THE BEST! Not only was the cake delicious (it was divine!), the communication with the owners was excellent. They are both so sweet and kind. They went above and beyond to make sure the color of the cake was exactly what I wanted it to look like- it really looked like the ocean for our shark loving boy. We will definitely be back and I cannot recommend them highly enough. You will not be disappointed!

This bakery is truly amazing!! We did a custom birthday cake and it turned out perfect. We did a screen cake and wrote Happy Birthday on it. The customer service is out of this world. You don't find caring owners like this to often. I highly recommend them.

This is my favorite cupcake place and an absolute must if you are in the area. I specifically googled this store while on vacation hoping there was a small cakes in the area. The cupcake flavors won’t disappoint, none are dry and you can’t go wrong with anyone choice! The are not the typical small cupcakes that other places make. Definitely go see Robert at small cakes!

Some of the best cupcakes there are. Always moist and fresh. We stop here everytime we are in the area. The staff is always very friendly.

I saw this building across from the ice cream shop and I decided to give it a try ...instead of getting the same old ice cream. I walk in, it’s a cute little shop. The owner, which was the only employee working, was very sweet. She had a pleasant voice and smile, while she spoke with me about her ice cream that’s made on the premises. They have over 60 rotating flavors. She offered me a sample of two different flavors so I decided to try wedding cake and red velvet cake. The texture was nice and smooth with bits of cake in it. It was rich, a very indulgent treat.

She then went to explain her daily fresh made cupcakes. They rotate 250 different flavors. They have 12 signature flavors daily. I chose one signature flavor: the pink vanilla, because it was pretty. I did not try my cupcake in the sweet shop because I was taking it back to my hotel room to have for dessert. I have to say, when I bit into it I was shocked!!!! I’ve eaten a lot of fancy cupcakes from Beverly Hills California down to Miami Florida - from shops and bakeries to 5 Star restaurants and I have never.... ever.... tasted a cupcake so moist, throughout the entire thing. It was consistent, so fluffy and light but completely full of flavor. It was the perfect sweetness. Even the frosting was light and sweet without being too heavy or rich. It was absolutely perfect!!! I could eat the entire cupcake pleasantly ... without guilt or a blah feeling.

I wish I would have tried the cupcake in the shop because I would have bought a dozen to take home with me.

If you need a treat for a special occasion or just to have a dessert, you half to try this shop. I know you’re thinking.... cupcakes and ice cream are pretty much the same everywhere... but I tell you... not here... it’s a genuine experience.

The cupcakes are OUTSTANDING. I have been here once before when they first opened for the day and they were super fresh! Just stopped in this evening as k was having a sweet craving. They were getting close to closing and I was a little nervous that the cupcakes wouldn’t be as great as the first time. Boy was I wrong! These cupcakes were so moist and delicious like that just came out of the oven. Hands down the best place to get a sweet treat. I will definitely be back!!

Amazing dessert spot in Biltmore Park! We got the Birthday Cake & Red Velvet cupcakes. So moist and fluffy, not too sweet! Perfect.

The cupcakes are absolutely delicious! The cake itself was perfectly moist and the icing was not too sweet but just right! I tried the chocolate pink, vanilla pink and red velvet. I have to say surprisingly the vanilla was my favorite! I will be back to try different flavors! If you're in the area or anywhere near by you need to stop in and enjoy a cupcake there or take some to go!

Absolutely amazing experience! Truly the best cupcakes I have ever had in my life! 46 years of my life! This will be my go to for all my holiday and celebrations from here on out! I tried one in August and couldn't stop thinking about those delicious cupcakes! It was a hit for my family's Christmas get together!
