Very nice, clean, comfortable room. Great location in downtown Montpelier just a block from the capitol building. Plenty of great restaurants and shops nearby. Park once and walk everywhere! The staff was fantastic - so friendly, welcoming and helpful. The elevator and restaurant were still closed when we stayed, but understandable considering the catastrophic flooding this town endured in the summer of 2023. We loved our experience here and would definitely stay again.

We stayed at the Capitol Plaza Hotel for the solar eclipse on 04/08/2024. The room was nice and clean, but would benefit from renovation (a tile in the ceiling missing). The restaurant was still closed as it was their "soft reopening" after the catastrophic flooding of parts of downtown Montpelier about 9 months prior. Everyone was friendly and very apologetic for the elevators not being repaired in time and the restaurant being closed. However, we were grateful that they had reopened just in time for the eclipse! We had a great time and would recommend!

Just remodeled and reopened post flood. Very nice! Great service. Friendly. Restaurant not opened back up yet but soon.

Although they're renovating and the elevator didn't work, the hotel was really well located, and the staff was top-notch. I would have liked a hot breakfast, but maybe after renovations are complete, they'll have that.

My family and I were there the night before the eclipse. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I plan to stay there in the future as well. Definitely 2 thumbs up!!

This place is magnificent. The location is convenient to everything by foot, the staff are generous and friendly, and the views are top-notch. They also fulfill all the things a hotel should: clean, comfortable, accessible, etc. My wife and I stayed here for four nights for a last-minute weekend getaway in April. Y'all come up here. You won't regret it.

They were very kind at the front desk. There was also a beautiful restaurant on the first floor where the workers were very friendly. They also had a barber and hair salon. I also felt very safe as there was a group of army men there, where I felt they may have been getting back to meet their families after deployment; therefore, the hotel may have offered them free stay.

My wife and I have a great experience staying at the Capitol Plaza Hotel while passing through Montpelier in May 2023! We only stayed one night, but left wishing we could have stayed longer. The hotel is conveniently located in the center of downtown Montpelier, with great dining, shopping, and the government buildings nearby. The staff were super friendly and gave us a lovely corner room with a great view. We'll definitely stay at the Capitol Plaza Hotel again!

This hotel is ideally placed within Montpelier (and on the Montreal-Boston route), with reasonable parking behind the venue. Though small, the elevators exude charm, and the rooms are well-appointed and decently sized. As a refurbished historic hotel, I highly recommend a visit. We only had the one night, but it was a relaxing and rejuvenating stay.

First, let's talk about the check in desk Sunday afternoon. Sherry ( I really, really hope I got her name right) was one of the friendliest, most helpful, and most welcoming front desk clerks I'd met in a very long time. Second, the room? It was a strange hodge podge of furniture, modern amenities, and great view that somehow added up to one of the most comfortable stays I've had in quite awhile. The biggest surprise? The bathroom with its temp controlled floors so I didn't freeze my feet off during the night. We'll definitely be booking here again on our way through Montpelier in the future. Wonderful choices of restaurants and shopping in walking distances from the hotel, too.

I LOVED this place. So welcoming and warm. The woman at the front desk was phenomenal. The bed was great and the water pressure more than exceeded my families expectations! J. Morgan's restaurant was incredible. We were not able to make a reservation so we sat at the bar. The bartender was very attentive, but didn't hover like bartenders sometimes do. If you need/want to stay in Montpelier, VT stay here. I can't imagine a reason why you would be sorry.

We stayed here twice visiting family. Montpelier is pricey without many options, it’s an older property, but we fully enjoyed both stays. It’s clean, comfortable and was well managed during covid, with a perfect location downtown. All the employees are so nice, patient and helpful, esp Valerie at the front desk (had her both times a year apart!) The rain shower heads are great, hot water immediately, beds are comfy, keurigs in room. We had better luck turning the thermostat off for a consistent nights sleep, and I’d recommend a room away from the elevator or front street which can be noisy. Parking for $10/day with validation, restaurant was good but closes early so plan ahead. Wish they had more breakfast options, but easy to find other places nearby. Thank you!!

We had a nice stay. It’s very rare to find staff like Denise who caters for breakfast so well. She did a great job!

I’m a long time business traveler and favor Hilton. This property is delightful. New rooms (June 2020) in a classic old building. 2 miles from I-89, nice city.
Valerie checked us in fast and friendly and provided good tips. Rooms were super neat and clean. Morgan’s was very good for dinner. Portions were huge, almost too much but nicely done.
Update 2023: I’ve been back several times since my original visit and the hotel and restaurant are still up to standards. I plan to go again.

Gem of a find. Great service and located near Main St with a variety of restaurants and bars to enjoy. The hotel staff is helpful, welcoming, and professional. The hotel offers multiple entrances/exits allowing quick and easy access to hotel. The only downside is the lack of in-house breakfast option. I am accustomed to having a complimentary breakfast provided with room. Unfortunately, the breakfast option is not associated with hotel. This issue can be easily circumvented as the location of the hotel provides multiple other locations that offer breakfast. We visited Dunkin Donuts, Skinny Pancake or Capitol Grounds Cafe for breakfast. Additionally, bring your own pillows. The pillows were soft and did not provide adequate support resulting in stiff neck and morning headaches during our week long stay. Besides those two minimal insolvencies, the hotel is superb!

Our main reason for choosing this hotel was for the proximity to all that is offered in Vermont. We were very pleased with this hotel. It was quiet, and clean. Also a plus was the Market that offered a nice selection of breakfast items to start your day and very convenient that is was located in the lobby of the hotel, you didn't have to go far. Also would like to thank Kathleen the breakfast host for her help and pleasant disposition.

I am mostly writing this review to say that Sherry at the front desk was absolutely fantastic in helping me get a very last-minute hotel room! So kind, and helpful! Truly, an absolute pro!
FYI - The room we got is lovely, and quite clean. The bed is comfy, particularly the awesome pillows. We got a back room with a balcony. While it overlooks a parking lot, I love seeing the mountains in the distance.

Valerie at the front desk was AMAZING. We originally booked at the Inn at Montpelier but it was a disaster. Fortunately, there were rooms available at the Hilton and it was such a an improvement. Valerie called us right away to let us know what was available and was so kind and attentive. Nice, clean, cool, and comfortable room with a pretty street view. Valerie even was able to book our family rooms near each other so it would be easy to visit! Thanks so much!

Our stay at the hotel was great and the staff was very helpful. However, we were extremely disappointed with Morgan's restaurant which was on the complex. We were told to make reservations so we stopped in to make a reservation for five o'clock and the hostess informed us that we did not need one at that hour. We went in to have dinner at five o'clock and a different hostess told us that a reservation was required. However, they did find a table to seat us after we informed her of our earlier visit. We ordered a bottle of wine and placed our food order. After some time passed, our food was delivered and about 45 minutes later, our wine was served. We had asked the waitress several times what happened to the wine order and was informed that someone had to go downstairs to get it.
One normally does not get their food before the wine is served. We were extremely disappointed when that restaurant was highly recommended. We definitely would not recommend the restaurant.

Hotel was clean and all staff very pleasant. We checked in last minute because of storm, we had been unable to enter our cabin.

The price didn't include breakfast, which is a la carte. I felt the price was a little steep for breakfast given already fairly pricey room. It might just be covid times, it seems I am perpetually paying more for rooms nowadays.

Overall, I'd stay again and recommend staying here. If you are a couple, breakfast could easily run you 25 to 30 bucks so you might as well go somewhere else in town. If your single, it's a decent enough deal.
