This place was a pleasant surprise when my boyfriend and I were hunting for places open on Labor Day. They had a 2 lobster rolls for $45 deal that day and they were 10/10. The atmosphere is very relaxed and charming, with outdoor seating with views of the cove. We’ll definitely be coming back here the next time we’re in Maine!

There are higher end places in the area. However for fresh seafood this place is fantastic. You order at the counter. They have lots of fried and steamed fresh seafood, including lobsters and lobster rolls. Fun place that also sells raw fresh seafood which is also fantastic. We got some haddock and made great fish tacos at home as well.

Me and friends ended up here in search of Live lobsters 🦞 and it was totally worth.

The price is decent with a good seating availability, the lobsters were really good.

I definitely recommend this place as well for lobsters.

Great hidden gem…supreme chowder with whole clams! Amazing crab roll as well, one of the best ever.

Delicious lobster rolls, you get a decent amount of meat for the fairly cheap cost ($20). It’s served cold, so a side of fries pairs quite nicely.

A charming location, and super friendly service. We had the haddock sandwich, lobster salad, fries, onion rings, a cheeseburger and blueberry pie. All just great! Picnic tables in a delightful little shaded alcove below the parking lot, above the channel. Fried Haddock sandwich was especially tasty, seasoned and crispy crunchy. Generous in size and far superior to others we ate at other places in our 10 days in Maine. Definitely adding this to our must-go for next year's trip!

The lady who served us came running out to give us dog treats when she saw we had a dog, she also helped me make a video with the lobster. All while their business was very busy. Hard workers, lovely people, great food.

We visit the Harpswell area 3 or 4 times a year and always stop in for the fried shrimp dinner. The shrimp is always melt in your mouth delicious, and the fries are awesome. The coleslaw is a nice bonus as well. They have a cozy outdoor seating area under a grapevine canopy that is very relaxing with views of the ocean. We always look forward to stopping in for lunch!!

This was the only place I could seat down and have steamed lobster on off season and I couldn't be happier. They have seating area by the store or little opposite from the parking where they have picnic tables overlooking the body of water. The lobsters were so tender so fresh melted in my mouth and the great price! I had two good sized lobsters onion rings side coleslaw a cup of clam chowder and drinks and my bill was littler over 50 dollars!

Adorable little place with good prices on great food! The clams just melt. The fish dip and crab dip were both outstanding. Even the coleslaw was great! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely check out this little gem 💎

Excellently priced, quick for takeout, and as fresh as it gets. Best fried clams I've ever had and the crab roll was surprisingly good. Staff was a bit curt, but this place was perfect to have nearby my airbnb rental for a couple of days.

Our airbnb host recommended this place as a local favourite. We had the freshest belon oysters, delicious clam chowder and the tastiest seafood platter with fried oyster, scallops , clams and haddock. We will be going there again tonight for dinner.

Such delicious fresh live lobster and a fascinating trading post, including lobster traps hanging on outside walls. Such ambiance!! Superb service also. What a neat gem!

The staff is awesome! I had a lot of questions and wanted to try everything. They even came in early to serve me one last time before heading home to Oklahoma. Lobster roll, wow!

I've been ordering delicious seafood from Gurnet Trading for years now, and they never disappoint. My mom loves the crab roll and seafood chowder!

Cute little take out place. Love the atmospheric al fresco dining. Scallops were top notch.

We pulled into Freeport a few minutes ago and ventured out for an authentic lobster roll and gave Gurnet a try. We arrived and while the location may not be the flashiest... The food was great. We got a lobster roll and onion rings. The roll wasn't huge, but it was packed with lump lobster. It tasted awesome! The onion rings were plentiful and freshly fried.

Price overall was good in comparison to some other places in the area, so I would definitely recommend a visit to Gurnet to anyone visiting the area.

COVID Update: Gurnet Trading Co. is open and doing curbside pick-up & takeout. My girlfriend and I picked up two Lobster Rolls and fries and took them to the Giant’s Stairs in Harpswell (aprox. 20 min away). The Lobster Rolls were savory and creamy, and served on soft toast. Be ready to spend $15 on a Lobster Roll, but call about specials in advance (there was a special for 5 full lobsters for $30 when we went).

Awesome seafood. Lobster rolls are delicious. Cool atmosphere inside and out. We loved the chowder even got some to go.
