Rock Circuit Trail

This is a fantastic trail just outside of Boston. This trail specifically is VERY rock heavy with a lot of parts sending you up and down rock formations! There are a lot of offshoots of the trail, so it is easy to accidentally get off the trail. But you just have to pay attention to where you are going!

2023-11-30 thu, Parked at Fellsway East. a nice walk counterclockwise, flowing the white blazes, pretty much alone. dry fallen leaves slippery. confusing paths around Pinnacle Rock.
2023-09-15 fri, Parked at Flynn Rink. hiked clockwise, better counterclockwise, for the later from 2-7 o'clock harder, more rugged and easier to be loss. Thus, get it over first.
2022-11-02 wed, a gorgeous day with beautiful fall views. my 6th time on Rock Circuit Trail. every time lost my bearing circling around, especially around Pinnacle rock area.
2022-06-29 wed, trees and leaves so dense, many parts unrecognizable. a really nice half-day trail.
2022-02-09 a beautiful day out there for a wonderful workout. Cleats or spikes a must. meandering to seek white blazes in snow. luckily others' tracks visible. detour rounding MWRA, the hike about 7.5 miles.
2021-05-17 a nice half-day workout. parked Fellsway east and went counterclockwise, pretty much alone. 1st hour is more rocky than the rest.
a pleasant walk, about 4.5 flat miles loop; not busy, mostly well marked with white blazes.

Moderately hard track, that tries to hit every high point in the area.
Lots of fun, very of-the-beaten-track.
Not trivial to navigate but sure as heck worth it!

It's moderately strenuous, lots of rolling hills and some rock climbing, loved the skyline view and waterfall few days after it rained.

Super easy, nice trail that is mostly walking. Some very slight up and down, very gradual and I think this would be doable for just about anyone who has ever walked a wilderness path before. You can take the Rock Circuit trail the entire way, or go in and out on other trails. I would 100% recommend using the Alltrails app on your phone, it makes it really easy to spot the trails and know where you're going. They're not marked poorly (Rock Circuit was white when I went), but the fact that they overlap other trails often makes it a little confusing. ALSO BRING BUG SPRAY!! I read reviews about mosquitos and shrugged it off, and have to many bites to count now - so definitely bring some spray.

Love this trail, challenging for me since some of the rocks are steep and hard to climb, but very engaging and great views

Magnificent trail, but easy.

This is a nice and easy trail with some great views of the city. If you are following the trail, beware because it's poorly marked. Use alltrails with gps or a map to avoid straying too far from the paths.

Nice, easy to walk trail with pretty lake. Went early Saturday morning and hung out on some of the rocks around the reservoir. I parked at the Flynn Rink parking lot.

A short trail with gentle slope, leading to a beautiful small lake, Fells Reservoir MWRA. Lake is very pretty and has several photogenic spots.
