Believe it or not we were going to Sarma. Down the street. 3 mi. They were hosting a private event. Bonus we win. Brenda our waitress was outstanding, personable, quite helpful on what is good. Her recommendation were spot on! From the Pork Chili Verde, followed by, Spicy Jambalaya, & why not apple crisp . . . My friend got the warm banana bread pudding. All of the staff was fantastic. Topping off the water to being available in.a timely fashion. A++

This is a very happening little spot in Somerville. The food was really excellent as were the cocktails. I could not believe how quickly the food came out for a party of 10. It's extremely loud in there however which is a bit of a pet peeve for me when you can barely hear the person sitting next to you at dinner. Other than that it's a very great little spot and I would definitely go back for the food and the cute little bar.

My wife and I've eaten here three times since moving to the area and we really like it. It is a bit loud, but the food is quite good and the service has also always been good. Eric was our server tonight, and he was extremely nice, accommodating, and attentive. He checked on us often. All of the food tastes very fresh, and homey, but still elevated. The southern dishes, especially are delicious. We recommend anything with corn bread, the specials, the burger - the desserts are great as well! Tonight we had the banana bread pudding, which was quite good, and Keylime pie, which was delicious! Overall, it's a great neighborhood spot - very lively and often busy! I found a spot that we definitely would recommend.

Great place! Everything we ordered was so delicious. Only thing to keep in mind they don’t take reservations and don’t sit you till the whole party comes. Atmosphere is very cozy, music is nice and there is an old Jukebox to play with if you’d like.

Had the spicy jambalaya and the Nashville HOT chicken sandwich. I really enjoyed both. The hot chicken is pretty hot so do not order it unless you have a high spicy tolerance. Previous dinners here, I’ve gotten the Goat stew which is probably my favorite dish at Highland Kitchen.

My daughters brought me here this week before a Celtics game .. what a great neighborhood restaurant. ! Waitress and staff super nice and appreciative of our visit - food was great! Everyone’s meal! Drinks great too ! Thanks for a true just welcoming feel which is hard to find these days ☘

I think we found our favorite restaurant. I came here once before many moons ago, and don't quite remember what I had but it was crazy busy. Fast forward to this past month, we've popped in 2 x after an event we were doing. everything we've had so far was so delicious. Burgers, south west Salad with chicken, deviled eggs and for desert the brownie Sundae and peanut butter pie. We want to try everything on the menu- creative spin on classics. Thanks for making our bellies happy!

Food is awesome! The place is always busy and has great service. Getting food to go is really easy and normally pretty quick. I recommend the Reuben!

Too bad we found this restaurant the last night here in Cambridge. The food is awesome! I had the fish tacos which were succulent and spicy and served on a bed of guacamole. My husband had the special fried chicken and everything on the plate was delicious . The cornbread was moist and the mashed potatoes were great

The food is always delicious here. Everything is just nicely done. I don’t usually drink but I had a really good, strong, cocktail special there once. It’s a staple in Somerville, doesn’t feel pretentious. You always know you’re gonna have a nice time there. Service is always friendly. Love Highland Kitchen. We go once every month or two.

Waitress Brenda is a gem. The food was insanely good. We had the jambalaya, the goat stew, the cheeseburger, and the cobbler. All perfect. Wish I'd found out about this place earlier. Prices were very reasonable.

A true gems of Somerville, Highland kitchen aims to deliver on all tenets of dining while catering to visitors and regulars. I find the menu to be interesting but not stuffy, offering a variety of dishes that anyone could call homey.

Pro tip: get the warm banana bread pudding with two scoops of ice cream.

One of the few places in Somerville that is reasonably priced, large portions, extremely tasty food, and excellent service every visit. Every employee we’ve interacted with has been warm and helpful with great recommendations and quick service. Favorites are the pan roasted half chicken, goat curry, and jambalaya!

Had a great meal tonight. Buffalo brussel sprouts were as good as they were 10 years ago. The mussels with a coconut milk au jus were amazing. I got a fried chicken sandwich which in my opinion rivaled the best I’ve ever had.

One thing I didn’t like is they tacked on an 8 percent kitchen fee. I think they need to pay the kitchen better and not pass that cost on to the consumer. They already raised the prices and for them to add the fee on and then a tip on top of it - is a bit excessive and taking advantage of the families that want to dine.

Good food. Crowded on weekends but worth the wait. Live music (at least) on Sundays for brunch. Good veggie burger! Delicious drinks too.

Social atmosphere. Excellent food with a unique interpretation of pub fare. Don't miss out on the buff sprouts . Everything is good.

I'd never been there before but the staff was absolutely wonderful. My friend and I got the fried plantains, buffalo brussel sprouts and gnocchi, and then jumbalya for dinner. Everything was perfect and had a great kick for those who like spice. The location felt small and the tables were small but id go again in a heartbeat

While visiting from out of town, I came across Highland Kitchen on Google. I was a little unsure going in, but I ended up being extremely impressed with the whole experience. The service was professional and helpful. The food was amazing. I ordered the pretzel, half chicken, and fries and all three were served hot. They were all delicious. I definitely recommend Highland Kitchen to anyone looking for tasty food in a relaxed atmosphere.
