This is the best bakery around here. The pastries and pizza are the best in quality and price! I have gotten their pastry book to be able to share the recipes with somebody who isn't living here but will be able to experience the same happiness and joy!

BEST PLACE EVER!!!! I'm completely addicted to the pecan rolls and chocolate things. Ugh just writing about them makes me crave them all over again. I'm not sure how exactly they put the pecan roll together but it is absolutely heavenly. I guarantee you will like the pastirws they have. And if you like cheese...... o my goodness you will live all the cheeses they have
DELICIOUS! A MUST TRY!!

Wonderful selection of baked goods. You can usually find cheese bread, sourdough, cookies, brioche, English muffins, muffins, scones, etc. They also have a selection of fresh cheeses sold by the ½ pound and pantry items.

The staff is friendly. All items are baked daily. Be prepared to wait in line.

Next door is their famous pizza that changes daily.

Friends had told us about this place, they didn't exaggerate the deliciousness. Long line but it moved quickly. Bought everything (almost). Adventure bag of cheese, chocolate thingy (amazing), scones, cheese rolls (sooo good!) sourdough Batard (bread) , cookies, lemon ricotta cake, and a partly baked pizza. All amazing. The pizza was not a hit with my 9 yr old (was kind of a grown up taste profile with caramelized onions and goat cheese IIRC), I loved it. They only offer one pizza variety a day (plus vegan option) at least for the partially baked, take home option available in the morning.
everything was delicious. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

One of the best bakeries in the East Bay. Almost everything they make is great, and the people are just so nice. It really feels like the perfect little employee owned community bakery. My only complaint is their hours, I just wish they weren't closed so much! How am I supposed to enjoy my Mondays without a Chocolate Thing?

Love this place! Pizzas, sourdough, garlic spread, green sauce and the scones are our favorites.

Cheeseboard is forever the best. The cheese rolls are unparalleled. The pizza is always vegetarian and always great. I recommend getting a half baked pizza to go and baking it at home

I love cheeseboard. I have been going there, regularly, for years. It's a worker owned co-op, the staff are great. The pastries are really good, my favorite is the chocolate thing, if I can spot one with a lot of chocolate. There's also a variety of scones, muffins, and breads. The cheese roll is a great choice if you want a savory pastry. Huge selection of cheese for sale to take home. And of course the pizza is what people line up for; it's a single flavor a day, great crust, and mix of cheeses and vegetables on any given day.

This bakery has the consistency in its excellence to still be as popular as it was back in the 1980’s when I moved here!!!
I’m always happy with my baked goody. The breads are terrific. They have the best light rye I’ve found since living in NY. If you’re a chocoholic then you absolutely must try their double chocolate cookies.
It’s worth the wait if there’s a line. It’s so wonderful to continue to support this amazing collective of talented people. Try it. I think you’ll be pleased. Remember they’re extremely popular so it can get very busy.

We were scared that when they closed during the pandemic a another great business was the victim of Covid. So glad the internet notice that it was "permanently" closed was wrong. We like the new way to buy with a single line leading up to a cashier that takes and fills your order. You no longer can browse the baked goods. But it's more efficient if you know what you want. Not good for customers still deciding what to get. For best experience new customers should research ahead what they want... hard decision since all their fresh breads are some of the best in the Bay Area.

As of June 2021, still no dining in try but there are a few permanent communal tables in front. There's also a small area to recycle your used pizza boxes. Their signature creamy green sauce is flavorful and very spicy! Whole pies only no slices for sale.

Anyone say “sourdough crust perfection”? Go for the cheese selection, stay for the cheese rolls, pizza and ginger cookies. The ultimate Berkeley Gourmet Ghetto stop.

My second favorite spot in Berkeley - it's just edged out by Cheese Board Pizza next door :). The shop is often very crowded, but the line moves fast and it's well worth the wait. The cheese selection is unmatched and their baked goods are as good as you'll get anywhere. Be sure to try the scones if you're in the mood for something sweet. The coffee drinks are also great for the price.

This place is a classic must-go for anyone who appreciates good food, especially good cheese. Unbelievable cheese counter. So much selection and knowledgeable employees who can help you find what you want or lead you to explore something new. They make sure to cycle their selection of cheeses to constantly introduce new farms, new products to us customers. They have many varieties of cow, goat, and sheep cheeses and have a fantastic taste-test policy to help you find the right one for whatever your cheese needs may be.

The baked goods section is also cyclic in what is available on a given day and always presents truly delicious and unique breads. Most of the breads have a sourdough base, and as someone who is not a huge fan of sourdough, I will vouch for Cheeseboard's sourdough flavor any day. They have flavored rolls - savory or sweet - as well as baguettes. They also usually have a dessert-type bread (think zucchini or banana bread type) and also have an excellent bread pudding that is available on occasion.

The salad and fridge cheese section is good to skim by. I've never once been underwhelmed or disappointed by the salads here. Always fresh with interesting and solidly delicious dressings. The cheeses available here are quick glance-and-grabs staples like Gouda, cheddar, feta, mozzarella, etc. You can also buy Cheeseboard pizza here.

For those of you who plan to buy cheese, know that you can check out at the cheese counter 100%, including bread, salad, etc. purchases. Just let your cheese guide know what you're buying for the day and you don't need to hop in line for your non-cheese goodies.

I hope everyone who comes here has as much fun and as many delicious experiences as I have had here! Truly a cheese-lover's paradise.

Though I have neither eaten the pizza nor purchase cheese from the Cheese Board in quite some time, I can say with certainty that it is good. When I say good, I mean really good.

The pizza is very flavorful and vegetarian. The cheese counter side of the store is my favorite. The workers will give you tastes of any cheese you think you might be interested in, then cut you the amount you want. The prices are reasonable; the quality is great.

Going to the Cheese Board is just an all-around fun experience. It's always bustling with people; you take a card from a deck and wait your turn, then you're given one-on-one service, and you get to taste some good cheese. Good, good, good.

This is my new favorite pizza. The service is quick and friendly and even if there is only one type of pizza every day, I love the fact that I don't have to make any choices. I went with a small group, but because a slice is only $2.50 (2012) and comes with a mini slice, we bought our slices separately instead of buying a whole box.

They have a live band with good music and they're a collective. You just don't find places like this anymore. Before I got there, I thought people were just hyping the place up too much, but have high expectations. Cheeseboard will definitely exceed them.

Being lactose intolerant doesn't stop me from coming here. Their cheese selection and plethora of breads/ready to eat foods are there waiting for you to make the best adult Lunchables of all time. Their par-baked pizzas have been essential the last few months, but I always forget to ask for green sauce (don't make my mistake).

Visited on a Saturday around noon and waited in line for about about 10/15mins

I really appreciate how it’s no longer self serve because of covid. You order and pay at the cashier and all the items are packed to go. As you are waiting in line there are photos of the items on the window. They will cross out one’s that get sold out.

When we got the pizza it looked so good we ordered a second one on the spot. Luckily one of their staff was able to ring our order without us having to wait in line again. That was very nice of them :)

Their pizza is half baked so it’s not ready to eat. Which is fine since we prefer to eat at the comfort of home.

Their website suggests to preheat oven at 400F and then heat for 5-8mins depending on your oven.

We heated on a cast iron plate for 6mins and it came out delicious. Not sure how they are able to keep the crust so thin and well structured.

Must visit and order if you ever in the neighborhood.

Absolutely the best bakery in the East Bay. So good that it is worth saving up your appetite but avoiding other bakeries to be able to indulge here. I really enjoy their brioche, which has the perfect amount of cinnamon sugar and juicy raisins. I also enjoy the mix of daily cookies and bread loaf's to take home.
