We lived in Alexandria 10 years ago and have a plethora of beautiful pictures framed by Gary. He is tremendously talented! We used to go in with an idea about frame choice and mat color and then my (now late) husband said, “just let Gary do what he does” and so from that day forward we would just drop off our pictures and let Gary do his magic. They were alway perfect, always beautiful. My daughters and I live in the Richmond area now and we’re planning a trip to Alexandria just to visit Gary and drop off some art work that only he can frame properly! Wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Gary has framed 20+ pieces for me- they're all done exquisitely. He's an interesting guy full of cool info about local history, and his shop is certainly not "typical!" It's a treasure full of treasures- including the owner.

Gary is extremely talented not only with framing but he has an exceptional eye for finding rare artwork as well as offering practical and affordable, high-quality framing solutions. Old Colony is my go frame shop and the one I recommend to so many others. Easy to overlook because the shop is down the stairs from street level but worth the find!

Gary Eyler has the most discriminating ‘ eye’ for frame choices, mats and matting combinations, as well as color and texture of mats, that serve to enhance whatever is being framed— from your child’s drawing, to a Rembrandt etching, to a modernist painting, or a rare manuscript sheet. I always ask HIS thoughts and suggestions. He’s a master at this!

Gary knows everyone in the art and collectible business in DC...Maps, political ephemera, artwork and paintings, he's your man...I can't say enough nice things about him...

Cool treasures and fantastic frame work.

I was willing to look past the condescending tone and remarks repeated over and over the first few minutes I got there. We discussed framing a puzzle my fiancée put together while she was out of town. I gave him the specific measurements, and he told me to wrap it up and find a way to bring it to him, we discussed I would come the following day. That part was very clear. Now I'm here, after struggling to follow his instructions, and I've been waiting for over 30 minutes for the shop to open. I've called several times to no response. Thanks for being worse than nothing.

Store basically closed. Scruffy looking owner stands outside asking if we need help. No sign saying it is closed but if you say the wrong thing he says to try eBay.
