I had the best experience shopping online with this small business. I purchased a nostalgic gift for myself on the penny post website, a yellow original duckhead umbrella like the one I had as a kid, because the actual brand's website didn't have my preferred color in stock. the product came damaged and when I notified penny post, they immediately sent me a new one without any questions asked. my new umbrella arrived before I even checked my email to see if they responded. I've never been to Virginia, but I will make it a point to visit this store if I ever do ;)

I stopped in very serendipitously on a trip to DC. I was always interested in fountain pens but have never really had a chance to try them out. Lucky for me, they had a promotion going on for some fountain pens and I had the ability to try out various different types. I was welcomed, questions were encouraged and answered, and I was helped by one incredibly kind individual (I feel terrible that I didn't catch their name!). I found my gateway fountain pen and am pretty much hooked for life. This place will be my "dealer" for pens and love that I get to support a local shop. I'll definitely be buying here in the future! Thank you so much!!

I wandered in here while in town for work to buy my first fountain pen. I’m a complete novice and they were so helpful! They explained the differences between brands, helped me pick an ink color that would match the pen, and showed me how to refill the cartridge. They also have a massive selection of notepads and cards!

Cute shop with a friendly and helpful staff. I picked up a fountain pen and plan to return for more writing gadgets.

Beautiful assortment of cards, washi tape, notebooks, etc! Had a testing area for different writing tools at the register too so you weren't buying anything blind

I love, love, love this independent card store that is also filled with the perfect little gifts. The staff is amazing and I cannot ever enter without leaving with something. Please support local. Trust me shopping here is always a wonderful experience.

Great store! Lots of interesting, cute, and eye-catching things ranging from stationary, notebooks, tchotchkes, stickers and more. The staff are friendly and there if you need help but are there to let you browse without hovering, which is really nice. They have a sale section in the back corner too.

A fanciful stationery store in the heart of Old Town. Why visit the P---- place when you can feel like you're in your own studio?! Paper, and pens, and pencils oh, my. There's a loyalty club to join for discounts, a good thing because quality writing equipment costs more than a penny. This place is adorable and fun, down to the postmark themed shopping bags.

Only thing better would be a journaling lounge where I can test out my new ink.

I'm glad that a golden ticket crossed my path, I got an awesome lunch tote and pins. Sadly I lost my evil eye pin. I will be back

I was having trouble finding a navy plastic Penco Clampy online that wasn't either super inflated in price or else sold out. Thankfully I came across Penny Post and was able to order one easily and affordably from Penny Post! I actually made the mistake of picking 'Local Pickup' at checkout instead of the postal shipping option, but the staff was very helpful and patient with invoicing me for the shipping as well. Definitely don't be like me and DO look carefully at the pickup/shipping options if you're not local LOL! Lots of great items though and really glad that I was able to buy my Clampy from a nice small business like this.

Always a fun selection of creative supplies. Some products run very high end and are more costly than others but there are lots of small items to browse as well for all ages.

I can never resist popping in here and always head home with something good. Love the notebooks and sticker selection and the unique merch, too. Very fun to browse. Staff is always super nice and they have a rewards program. Beautiful post cards and stationery, too. Highly recommend.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this store! Discovered it back during the holidays when I was looking for cards, and BOY do they have cards! Also lots of fun pens, stickers, books, puzzles, and a few little snacks (most locally made, or at least made on the east coast). Also, all the staff members I’ve interacted with have been just lovely 😊.

This store keep me in for a very long time! Haha! I recently visited (Saturday 9/14/19) and loved it! They have really great greeting cards and cute, useful books. Definitely want to go back when I visit Old Town again.

Most charming store with a fantastic collection of cards, wrapping paper, pens (my daughter spends all her money on the pens), stationery, gifts and all kinds of whimsical things. Emily who manages the store is so friendly and helpful it makes shopping for a gift so easy. Even with the Covid-19 situation, all I had to do was call, tell them my budget and ask them to pick out some stationery for me and Emily picked out the loveliest things and had them ready for curbside pickup. Small businesses forever!

Wonderful little shop! I especially love their (free) monthly Correspondence Club- a fun time to work on letters, journaling, test products, and meet new people! Their selection of writing paraphernalia has something for everyone! I can easily spend hours perusing their merchandise!

I love the holiday card selection at Penny Post. I'm always on the hunt for the most snarky cards to send to my bestest of friends. The holidays are always full of sentimentality, but laughter - especially after being separated all of 2020 - is definitely needed. My online shopping process was easy and seamless.

So basically I love this store. There's something about it where I can't leave without spending money there so I really have to be careful. 😂 So many fun things to look at, so many options for people like me who obsess over journals and nice pens and weird little random objects. Also, amazing card selection.
