My wife and I visited Alexandria, VA for 3 days. We stayed in Old Town at Morrison House, one of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. It is a boutique hotel with approximately 40 rooms.

We arrived at 4pm and were assisted in parking by Douglas. What a nice man! He also placed our bags on a trolly and accompanied us to our room (311). Douglas was informative about the area and all aspects of the Morrison House. He is certainly an asset to the hotel.

The room was not opulent. It was very clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom had been updated and was odd (but welcome) contrast to the room. The climate control in the room was very good. There was nothing ‘wrong’ with the room, just not as “historic-looking” as I expected. The common areas of Morrison House were just as I’d expected—-the bar, the library had period furniture and the historic feel of Old Town Alexandria. (also enjoy the complimentary wine each evening)

I want to make special mention of Sam, the front desk manager. We had many questions while in Alexandria, as well as requests. Sam was spot-on in every case. Highest praise for Sam. He, like Douglas, is an asset to Morrison House.

If you’re visiting Old Town Alexandria, there is no better location than Morrison House. It’s just steps away (literally) from King Street. Should we visit the area again, there is no doubt about our accommodations—Morrison House. Pleasant atmosphere, superior service, prime location.

Morrison House is a quaint hotel nestled in the the lovely Old Town Alexandria area of Virginia. The staff was great. I had a great experience at check in with Monique and we especially would like to thank Shante who went above and beyond to make sure my stay was great and I could find some late night snacks. With staff like them this hotel is going great places.

What a wonderful little hotel! Less than 50 rooms. Spent 4 wonderful days. Staff called me by name whenever i walked in. Unbelievable in this day and age. So wonderful staff, great building, awesome location just off of King Street but perfect location for visting all the amazing restaurants and shops. Everything and i mean everything is within easy walking distance. The area is a top notch destination for foodies, families, architectural tourism, history, art, and fun. Morrison house has a nice room for business meetings, very nice small bar, wonderful library and sitting rooms.

Review for the Study. Five stars. We visited for my boyfriend's birthday, it was fantastic. They had a live musician playing the piano who sang happy birthday to him. The service and management of the restaurant was superb. 10/10 recommended.

My husband and I stayed at the Morrison House for our "mini-moon" and absolutely loved it! The front desk staff was so friendly, and they offered us complimentary valet parking. We also received a complimentary bottle of Prosecco with a kind note from the manager in our room. The room was clean and up-to-date, and everything was so close to King Street and the old town scene. We definitely recommend staying here!

What a wonderful experience we had enjoying our 40th anniversary at the Morrison House in Old Town Alexandria. A special shoutout to manager Sam Shaheen who went above and beyond helping me to create the perfect atmosphere for my wife. I arrived at 7:30 AM to drop off a bouquet of roses and fragrent lilies. I wasn't expecting to check in but Sam allowed me to not only check in but to place the flowers in our room so that I could surprise my wife. Sam kicked up a knock and delivered a nice bottle of red wine to celebrate our big occassion. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast in the library prior to our departure. When we arrived home I realized that I left my mini Bose speaker in the hotel room but after a quick phone call I was put to ease as the house cleaner found and placed it in their lost and found section. The rooms and location were great but the service was exceptional and made our stay so memorable that we will be coming back soon. Thanks again! Dr. Herb Hughes

Morrison House and Alexandria, VA - a different way to do DC! In a recent business trip to DC I ended up at Morrison House for 2 reasons - I am a fan of Autograph collection - a group of hotels that remain independent but share service standards - and the property was at a more competitive rate vs. what could be found in DC proper. Morrison House is located directly in the center of Old Town Alexandria - a great walkable neighborhood filled with wonderful shops and restaurants where - as the name implies - there is a historic feel / older structures. Morrison House is an older building with renovated interior. The rooms - while slightly small compared to box brand hotels - are very well appointed with comfortable beds - high end bedding / bathroom amenities. While a small detail - the rooms have windows that open - which has been wonderful for my mid April stay! Also a nice touch, they leave two books in each room. The lobby of the hotel has a great sitting area with a fire place and a chess board. They offer a light continental breakfast for a fee in this area. They also have a restaurant and bar - though this is open on Wednesday to Saturday. Every member of the team is incredibly hospitable and welcoming! Equally as much of a find as this hotel was - is the town of Old Town Alexandria, and its proximity to Washington DC. The Morrison House is about a 15 minute walk (assuming reasonable weather) - to a DC Metro station that will allow you easy access to all points and sights within Washington DC. This leads to a new way to do DC - instead of overspending to be downtown (DC is nice but not all areas have the character of Old Town Alexandria) - choose to stay here instead - go see the sights during the day - and enjoy relaxed evenings with the restaurants and bars of this great town!

This is a very nice and cozy hotel if you are looking for spending time in the beautiful Old Town, Alexandria. It is close to very nice (french, italian) restaurants. There is no gym inside, but you have a couple of options very close by.

The staff is so wonderful and friendly. The breakfast is French style (croissants, muffins, yogurt, coffee, orange juice) - not your typical American breakfast, but we had it once there and it was delicious.

The rooms are clean and spacious. We stood on the 3 rd floor - we will probably upgrade to a higher floor next time.

Totally recommended!

This 5 star review is for the 2 employees working Fri afternoon Dec 23rd. I checked in with a reservation and my husband in a wheelchair. The elevator at the hotel was not working and my husband was having trouble with the steps. They called maintenance to fix the elevator but had no luck. So they quickly arranged for us to move over to The Alexandrian on King Street. Our Christmas holiday there was splendid, we got to visit family and friends in the area. These 2 folks took care of everything for us as we were exhausted from traveling. Next time we will stay at The Morrison House, it looks so beautiful. We really want to get to experience it!

A true boutique hotel in the most central area of old town. My husband and I enjoy staying here when we are in town. The staff is very friendly. Especially the manager who is wonderful. The rooms are nice and have the luxury amenities that you would expect from an autograph collection hotel.
The hotel does not have a gym, however we were able to use the gym at the Alexandrian Hotel. They have a grab and go breakfast with coffee, yogurt, pastries which was a nice touch.

New Year's Eve stay that we enjoyed very much. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was beautiful. The only problem was a fussy toilet. Given the night, it was a bit noisy but our neighbors were asked to be quiet without any need for complaint on our part. Kindly, they did pipe down. An unexpected benefit was the great fireworks view out our window at midnight. Very fun!

This is the best kept secret in Old Town... it is like "coming home" every time I visit the DC area. Sam, Chris, and the entire team make our stay always memorable ❤ Hospitality and service reign as their commitment to the brand.

I recently spent three nights here and was thoroughly impressed with the service. Everyone that I encountered from the front porch to first entering my room was polite and helpful. My room was in a corner, with a view toward Washington. It contained the appropriate amount of space, with ample closet room and a well laid out bathroom. Every morning, there was a selection of breakfast treats, juice, and of course coffee and tea.

Venturing out the first afternoon (with little knowledge of Alexandria), we were pleasantly surprised to learn that we were in the middle of the old area of town with various activities and a broad selection of restaurants available to us. Walking around near the Morrison was a pleasant experience. We enjoyed our stay here.

As bad luck would have it, I discovered when I arrived home that I had forgotten a package and left it at the hotel. It had no current contact information attached, so I was worried about what would happen to the item. As soon as I called the contact number, I learned that the package had been discovered, and stored in a secure area. Within a day, it was on its way to my home, and it arrived safe and sound the following day. I was impressed at how helpful the staff was each time I called for a progress report.

For my next trip to Alexandria, I will stay here again, and I highly recommend the Morrison for others.

Perfect location in the middle of Old Town. The room and bath were well appointed and the bed and linens were very comfortable. Everyone we met on the staff was friendly, professional and helpful. I wish I remembered all their names, but Dan D was the best.

12/30/21. Just wanted to update my review for my most recent stay at the Morrison House. The lady working the front desk, Monique, did an incredible job of not only checking people in, valeting cars, & running the wine hour but also dealt swiftly & incredibly professionally with a room issue I had at the same time! I did not realize I had been given a connecting room until someone checked in next door and put their tv on. I could hear everything loud & clear. It was not pleasant at all. Monique had my room changed in less than 5 minutes! Once again, what makes this hotel stand out is the staff.

The Morrison House was the perfect location to host our wedding ceremony and reception! We also stayed at the hotel the week of the wedding and had an exceptional stay thanks to all of the incredible staff. From the people at the front desk to the team setting up for the wedding everyone went above and beyond to make our experience special. This was definitely one of the most hospitable places I have stayed at and cannot thank everyone at The Morrison enough!

This venue is perfect for an intimate smaller wedding. I had the pleasure of DJing a 60 person wedding at Morrison House last night and the staff were so lovely. Amanda & Chelsea are so accommodating & the food was delicious. It has lots of small spaces so if you have older guests they have somewhere to talk. The bar is also perfect for cocktail hour and great for some cool photos.

Highly recommend, the place has style without being overbearing. Although it took a while for the front desk to show up, when she did she was amazing, friendly and was doing every job. I was greeted with a complimentary glass of wine and a very clean room. I will say the breakfast was disappointing. The location is great and the parking is very steep but other than that, for the money this is a great place to check out! I'll likely be back.

Excellent stay at this unique property in downtown Old Town Alexandria. Great location near dining and entertainment. Exceptionally clean rooms and throughout the hotel. Very polite staff - from the female associate that checked me in late at night; to Sam, who was personable and everything a hotel should want in a manager. 10/10 would stay again next time I'm in town.
