Great alternative to the more rowdy Pub atmosphere in the neighboring streets. Food and atmosphere was friendly & warm, with plenty of classic food items and drinks.

From house cocktails to entrees and dessert, everything exceeded expectations.

I got the scotch eggs (my favorite) short ribs entree and flour less cake for dessert. A stellar combo with the warm barn style architecture and tavern style ambiance.

Loved the cheerful and attentive staff who eagerly shared favorite dishes and drink recommendations from the menu.

A must visit for the Old Town Alexandria experience

What a neat venue in the old part of town, on the riverfront. Great food & service. Parking is a bit tricky, but deck around the corner for $15. Good was superb and fast, though I was there early, was filling up quickly by 6. Bourbon selection is phenomenal. They also do a tasting with their own Kentucky Colonel (reservations required), and have 3 private barrel selections.
Reserve a table in advance, you didn't want to miss out on this one!

Excellent place! The decor is cozy and warm; I love that it used to be an old warehouse and the atmosphere is fun and lively. The food was very good with a great whiskey selection. I had the fish tacos & am excited to return to try different dishes.

Quite a nice experience in Oldtown for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The service was prompt and our server was pleasant and attentive.

The food was delicious and portions were sizeable. The only con for me was that it was fairly loud. Not a knock on the restaurant as there isn't much they could do about it, aside from reducing the number of tables. And I understand not doing that as the place is busy and more tables equals more business.

Overall a nice place for lunch.

The food here is always phenomenal. I love getting the Virtue burger or the fish tacos. But you really can't go wrong with anything you get. I especially like coming on Wednesdays with friends because of their half of wine bottle special. The Chianti Reserva is my absolute favorite.

This place is always a great vibe and I love bringing visitors out of town here. I also think the bar area is a great first date location. The lighting and ambience make it very relaxing for dates.

I also love the history of the building including the recent history. It was once a book and records store! Way before I moved to DC. And according to my best friend who grew up in Alexandria, the back room on the second floor was the "special" adults only materials section of the store.

We reserved Virtue Feed & Grain’s Clipper Room for a lovely wedding reception. Could not have been more impressed with the quality of food and the fantastic cocktails our guests enjoyed. The Events Manager Emily was very responsive and delivered everything we requested for our reception. Virtue Feed & Grain offers great service, delicious food, and amazing cocktails - can’t recommend them enough!

Absolutely fantastic experience. There is no shortage of places to dine at in Old Town Alexandria, but this one place you can't miss. Service is quick (my food order came out in 6 minutes!) and the servers are friendly. Really neat decor in here. Like being in a warehouse..exposed wood and pipes everywhere with taps hanging from the ceiling. Amazing bourbon and whiskey list and the beer offerings are plenty. The food is great! Had the teriyaki wings which were YUGE and the Brussels Sprouts...both were made to perfection. This place is a huge win. Go there and leave fat and happy (and maybe a little drunk).

The upstairs is a great bar with a really cool vibe. Couch set up for casual dining and enjoying a night out. Brunches are great! Make sure you try the breakfast burrito and crab Benedict. The home fries have the perfect crisp on them.
There is even a dog menu. We went with the beef and rice.

Our group really enjoyed the atmosphere, it was very relaxed and fun. The food was fantastic- we had the blistered shishito peppers, scotch eggs, spinach and apple salad with steak, steak and fries, as well as various drinks. I am gluten free, so I appreciated that they marked the gluten free items with a clear GF on the menu. The drink special for the week was the Gingerbread Parlor Punch was adorable and delicious! It was on the pricier side, but definitely worth it!

Feed and Grain. Highly popular. Nice decor, clean interiors. Tastefully decorated. Mezze Platter as an appetizer. Pickled Cauliflower was fantastic! Olives, and the Hummus. Very fresh! Lovely presentation. Main course consisted of the Salmon dish and a shredded Chicken soup. Expertly prepared . The Salmon came with a creamy Quinoa side. Virtue Feed and Grain is a must visit in the Old Town.

Everything here is spectacular. The food is amazing, the interior is cozy and warm, and it is located right on the waterfront. The whisky and cocktail selections are excellent, something you can't get anywhere else. If you're going at a popular time, I would recommend getting a reservation, as they do get busy. A bit of a pricey option, but the quality is definitely worth it, fairly typical for old town.

Came for brother’s bday. Apps were excellent (I recommend the crab dip), vibes were good — place was full yet didn’t seem too loud. Very cozy. They had the best aioli I ever had. Bathroom was clean. Service was good. Would come back

Stopped by to get some appetizers for a quick bite; enjoyed myself and had a great time.

Got the Duck Poutine, Chips & Dip, and some Chicken Flautas. Absolutely was a lot of food and I'm glad we chose only those options.

Also got a glass of wine and regular hot cider. If you find yourself near here, stop by... and you should probably even make this a destination as well. Food and service was awesome, atmosphere is very welcoming. Timber frame beams really help with their rustic look.

I took my family visiting the area here as the menu is contains a wide variety. We also had the opportunity to utilize a section upstairs which was more secluded for conversation. The food was splendid, for starters we got the crab dip (a favorite), calamari which has fried olives and banana peppers. Everyone got a different entrée, with myself getting the bacon wrapped scallops which were delicious. The kicker for me was the Bourbon flight which included 4 VA ABC 'Allocated' bourbons at an excellent price point. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys upscale American fare, as well as to any Bourbon enthusiast.

Great food, lots of variety. Drinks were amazing! Service was great. Would definitely make this a stop on a visit to D. C.

We went out to celebrate a Master's degree in old Town Alexandria on a Thursday evening, and really made a great choice in Virtue Feed & Grain. Its upscale casual environment was comfortable and easy to settle into.

Even on an "off" night, they were very busy. We were quoted a 30 to 45 minute wait (go ahead and shop all the great, quaint shops while you're waiting), and our table was ready at 49 minutes when they texted our provided phone number.

We were upstairs at an elevated table in the bar area and were very comfortable.

Cameron was our server and was GREAT. He was very helpful without being intrusive. He was knowledgeable about the bar offerings as well as the menu specifics and specials, with ready recommendations when asked. I will ask for his section if we have the occasion to visit again.

Our party of four had two shared appetizers, four entrées, three shared desserts, and two adult beverages each. The check was approximately $60 per person (pretip), which we felt was very reasonable for our experience and evening out.

The quality of food was uniformly exceptional. Our appetizers ranged from $10 to $16, entrées ranged from $22 to $36, cocktails from $9 to $14 each with seasonal offerings, and desserts at $8 (don't miss the center cut donuts, 5 pieces per serving!). There are vegetarian options as well as gluten-free options available, as well as a "kids section" on the menu.

Service is available at the bar as well as table service, depending on your preferences.

Overall, it was a really great night that we will remember for the occasion we were celebrating and for the venue in which we chose to celebrate.

This place has a great atmosphere! Seating is available outdoors and indoors has 2 levels. The food and drinks are delicious. I really enjoyed the brussel sprouts. It’s in the perfect spot to walk around before or after dinner and easy access to the ice cream shops in old town.
