We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! Everyone's meal was delicious, with tons of flavor and good serving sizes. It took longer than expected to receive our food after ordering, but it was worth the wait. Two of us ordered from the brunch menu. I had the egg white omelet with grilled chicken, roasted vegetables, and cheddar grits. Another had eggs benedict with lobster, on top of fried green tomatoes. Another ordered Cantonese sea bass and mashed potatoes from the dinner menu. For dessert, we had cheesecake, key lime pie, and the lava cake. All yummy! Mark, our server, was pleasant and very helpful. Of course, the river view was delightful. I look forward to dining here again.

It was a beautiful, unseasonably warm Sunday afternoon -- perfect day for a walk along the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria VA with my son. Even more perfect was sitting down for a delicious meal at the Chart House. We had visited the chart House on the Philadelphia waterfront a couple of times, so we knew we were in for a treat. This location did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, great menu, great food, and incredible service! The Kim Chee Calamari was an amazing start! It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and the portion was generous. My Alaska Cod exceeded my expectations and my son thoroughly enjoyed his Baked Stuffed Crab. Everything was well-presented and though the prices were on the higher side, the quality of both the food and service made it well worth the investment. We'll surely return.

UPDATE: Returned for another visit, this time with my wife and I just have to say that the SHRIMP, AVOCADO + MANGO STACK is out of this world!

Went for my husband's birthday and we both enjoyed ourselves so much we had already planned to come back before we finished our meals😂 Service was excellent, staff was very friendly. Food was AMAZING, no complaints there. And the overall vibe, decor, and VIEW was stunning. Big windows give nice scenery of the bridge that connects MD & VA and MGM stadium and the National Harbor. Fine dining experience without being *too expensive IMO, the money we spent was definitely worth it❤ OH and they give free cake for the birthday person🎉

Lovely atmosphere right on the Potomac River. I love linen tablecloths and excellent service. The calamari is a great shareable and the cocktails are yummy. We will be back!

The restaurant and the view are beautiful. Our server was excellent. I like how the calories were listed for everything. The Cantonese Seabass dish was incredible, but not filling. I spent $80 for the seabass and a $6 faux Mojito and left hungry. I wish there had been more vegetables on the plate. I tried my friend’s Alaskan black cod dish and it was incredible too. I don’t mind spending money on delicious food, but I would like to not still be hungry. I will come back because the food was that good.

Delicious meal, I had the 14oz New York Strip with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. To get it over the top, I added Mushroom Truffle Butter, wow, amazing. Great view of the water, beautiful old DC. A little slow on the server time, but worth the wait.

Had Christmas Eve reservations and our expectations were exceeded. The atmosphere, with lovely views of the waterfront, the service, and food, were all outstanding. Christmas Eve only offers a preset menu, with limited items available. For $79 you get a starter (soup or salad) an entrée, and a dessert. Drinks and appetizers are a separate charge. The beef carpaccio was amazing, the baked brie was good, but frankly the number of components on the plate were confusing. I had the Lobster bisque, which had a bit too much sherry in it, but was still tasty, and the prime rib, which was absolutely perfect. Others enjoyed the surf and turf (shrimp, not Lobster), the truffle sea bass, and the NY strip. Our only real complaint was that it seemed as if a couple of the dishes had been sitting under a heat lamp for a bit, as the mashed potatoes were cold, and the NY strip was missing the mushroom sauce. We tried all three desserts, drunken cherry cheesecake, chocolate lava cake, and key lime pie, all of them were decadent and delicious. We ordered one bottle of J Lohr Cabernet, and a beer. Our bill came to $570, so be prepared to spend over $100 per person, plus tip.

I went here for a work dinner and I must say I was thoroughly impressed with this restaurant. It is an upscale seafood and steak restaurant with exceptional service. It is right by the water in old town and their seafood is really fresh!

What I had:
Lobster-tails & Seasonal Marinated Grilled Vegetables
NY Strip 14 Oz with 3 Potato Garlic Mashed

I would describe it as a sophisticated waterfront restaurant, they don’t have a dress code but I would recommend dressing semi formal when dining here. This restaurant is perfect for work dinners, date night or a boujee girls night out!

BLUF; we had a wonderful dining experience at the Chart House. The food was delicious, the waterfront view was amazing, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was elegant and sophisticated while exuding family friendly. Mark, our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. The food was both pleasing to the eye and pallet. The Mango Margarita was refreshing. I would definitely recommend the Chart House to anyone looking for an awesome pleasurable dining experience.

I got the chart special which comes with a salad, shrimp pasta dish and the lava cake. 😋 I was so full from the appetizers had to the rest home. A very good atmosphere. They did allow us to bring in the cake and balloons Our sister was really surprised. So try them out they are really good the only one in the area. Amazing

Had our team's holiday celebration at the Chart House. The view was absolutely gorgeous. The place was really busy so I was a little concerned because we were close to time but the staff was able to get the area reset so our guest could come and be seated. The staff was awesome. We had two servers who not only had our large party but another one. The guest enjoyed their food and the staff was more than accommodating for the few minor snags that did happen. Our menu was the salmon, stuff shrimp and chicken. The salmon was our guests favorite and the stuff shrimp was good also. Surprisingly, the key lime pie was extremely good also.

What a gorgeous restaurant!! Perfectly situated on the water’s edge overlooking the Potomac River, I throughly enjoyed dining at Chart House.

This was one of the first times in a while that dining at an upscale restaurant, I was just as excited with the drinks and food menus!!! Because I was spoiled for choice and there is only so much one can order in one sitting 😂 re: food and drinks - I am already plotting my next visit! Particularly so that I can order drinks off of their table side drink experience!!

The coconut crispy shrimp and NY strip with mac’n cheese were tip top!! The creamed spinach was also *chefs kiss* 🤌🏾🔥!!

Decor and service wise, I literally have zero critiques. Our table was well attended throughout the meal and our server was very personable and knew the menu well.

My husband and I visited the Chart House during happy hour and had a wonderful experience! Our waitress, Lecia, was fantastic! She was attentive, professional, and made excellent food and drink recommendations. In addition to the outstanding service we received from Lecia, the food was exceptional! Everything we had was delicious, including our beverages. We can't wait to patronize the Chart House again!

Had a wonderful dinner with Keri as our server. She is fantastic!! I had the king salmon & my husband had the shrimp & scallops. Both were excellent. Hubby said shrimp were a little over cooked but certainly edible. They had no problem leaving off the truffle foam for my husband's allergy. Atmosphere is elegant and nautical. We were lucky enough to get in the fireplace room!

My FAVORITE place in Alexandria to eat!! My husband and I were in from out of town. The first day I had the clam chowder, Caesar salad with blackened salmon. Day two: I had the clam chowder again and the shrimp stack. And a non alcoholic mint and berries drink. It was all amazing!!

We read several bad reviews about the food, but for us was spot on. We loved the table near to the fireplace. We ordered the clam chowder and the crab cream. Both tasty but, for us, the crab was better than the clam. We had the chopped salad, which had a nice vinagrette. And we also got the salmon and the chilean bass. They both were fresh and delicious. The view was the best part of it.

This was my first time here. Our waiter was so nice and made sure we received everything that we ordered. The food was phenomenal! The crab dip had a little extra kick than what I’m used to, but it was still very good, and served hot, so be careful! I loved the cesar salad (was able to get an extra side of dressing). The paneed chicken was nice and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. The flavor was outstanding! And lastly, the stuffed shrimp was delicious!

My boyfriend took me here for the first time for my birthday and it was a great experience. Food - fresh, quality seafood and loved the mock-tails too. I ordered the stew and it was nice and light. Service- friendly and prompt. Vibe - business casual to formal dress from what I saw. It seems like a place to go for that special life moment. Overall, it was good experience and I would go back for a special occasion celebration.
