Incredible fine dining experience. I was lucky enough to snag a table here for my party of five on a Saturday night and our meal was second to none. From the moment we walked in the door, every member of the staff made us feel at home. The menu was well contemplated and the cocktails were exceptional. Excellent choice if you want to enjoy the best New Orleans has to offer.

Amazing all around experience! This was by far my favorite restaurant in New Orleans. The tasting menu did not disappoint and every dish was delicious. The staff were so polite, attentive, and knowledgeable about their menu. This is everything you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. Highly recommend!

I went to August to have a birthday dinner, and decided to treat myself with the sampling menu. Could not be happier with my choice. Everything was PERFECT!!! Service was great, food was delicious, the wine pairing was superb with a selection of amazing Italian wines. Everything was cooked to perfection and served on a way that would make you think if you want to eat the food or display it on a museum. I will become a regular of this amazing place.

Everything about this restaurant is FIVE stars! Food amazing, service amazing, atmosphere quiet but not too quiet. Every plate was an art piece and tasted great. Service amazing with very knowledgeable waiters. You have to come eat here at least once if you live in Nola.

This isn’t just a restaurant…it is an experience! Is the food amazing? YES!! Is the service amazing? YES! Do they make sure that you are taken care of from the moment you enter to the moment you leave? ABSOLUTELY!!

Every detail is taken care of. We used the private Chef’s Tasting Room and it was beyond magical. We’ve also visited the main dining area on a previous visit and it was just as amazing!

The entire staff even signed the menu for my wife’s birthday dinner! And….we met the Executive Chef!!!!!

10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Before I review I always read other reviews. For this place, I have a hard time to understand the bad reviews and I imagine that maybe unfortunately the restaurant had some bad employees and took care of it, maybe some people have some unreachable expectations or else.

I was surprised by the limited food menu. I am used to have eat in nice places (not to brag but as a reference) and I am used to have plenty of options. But well, if you do everything on the menu perfectly that might be the key.

We took all the appetizer and I like all of them especially the foie gras and the pasta. I choose the Wagyu because I didn’t know what else to get honestly and I am not a wagyu guy, but I love steak. I saw the picture on Google and I hoped I ordered what the picture was.

Well, it was a great steak! Not too buttery at all and if you like steak, you will love this one. However, if you want specifically Japanese or Australian wagyu you will probably be disappointed. The marble is not wagyu. If you usually like the American wagyu better, you will like this one.

The American wagyu is a mix of American cow + Japanese cow. That’s why the American wagyu is closer to a traditional steak and less rich and for my perspective a way better wagyu STEAK.

Matt and Lee were very attentive, available, and nice. They are very good at keeping their heads up and that’s a very rare quality these days. In other words, I never had to look for them because either way they were getting very quick that I needed something or already anticipated it.

The wine was good and I would go for this burgundy. I think it will match very well the American taste. If you are French, don’t expect it to be incredible, but for the price the quality match.

I don’t like the sparkling water they propose. If you are like me and you never drink tap water you will be disappointed.

My dessert you can see on my pictures was not bad, but I would choose something else next time.

I highly recommend this restaurant. That’s a nice place. I think it’s also a romantic place.

The two hostesses were really nice and welcoming. (Came October 30th 2023).

Always solid! My go to restaurant in New Orleans for fine dining and exceptional service. The staff are all top notch and very professional. They really take care of you when you come here. Menu is updated regularly on a seasonal basis. The gnocchi black and blue is a classic that I order every time I dine here. The foie gras preparations are always great as well. Extensive wine list and inventive cocktail program.

Opulent and what I expected. Sat at bar because I was solo but would love to return with date to dine at a table in dining area. So beautiful.
The high ceilings and tall windows added to the classic nola feeling. Had a Gnocchi appetizer,, Aviation and forgeries dish. Absolutely a cornucopia of tastes. I would recommend them both. The aviation was perfect btw.
August is perfect for solo, date or business dinner.

This restaurant left us speechless. Our absolute favorite when visiting NOLA. Food is exquisite, service by far the best we’ve ever had, I just can’t put into words the dancing of flavors in your mouth when dining here. Takes “party in your mouth” to another level.

Amazing restaurant! Amazing food, the best food I ever have in the U.S. The pork cheek is tender, the duck three way is good. Crab and Cucumber was good. Short cake with strawberry ice cream was wonderful. Wine are also good.

Amazing! This is what fine dining is all about! From the service, ambiance to of course the food! everything was superb! Starting with the service, every interaction we had was met with a light, knowledgeable, and often fun attitude. Next, the amuse bouche… which was airy and so delicately balanced! Second the black and blue most have! Blue crab, black truffles and a sauce made in heaven! The asparagus was mind blowing! Again light and the brine of the caviar lended a beautiful contrast against that sauce! Everything you see here was ridiculously good! The duck was also amazing… that said, dish of the night for me was the foie gras & beignets… absolute game changer! Michelin levels of good. Those would be the last pics you see below (the foie looks like a chocolate cake). And speaking about cake, the desserts were on par with this meal! If you are considering this place, don’t consider it any longer and just go!! You won’t regret it!!!

I have eaten in many big cities, but rarely have I eaten in a restaurant where everything from service, drinks, appetizer, entree and dessert hit a home run. They can easily charge more for what you get when you dine here. Definitely coming back here to eat again next time I visit New Orleans.

August is now in my top 5 world-wide restaurants I have visited. I made reservations months in advance to secure a table. (Advised) And once we arrived, decided to sit in the more relaxed bar side rather than the white linen-table clothed, and opulent dining room. For us, the laid back, yet austere ambiance of the lounge suited us perfectly. Conversation with the uber-cool headed and delightful tender of bar and food guide, Jennifer was relaxed and well versed and performed her fine dining functions like a skilled dance. Joining in with perfect timing and effortless grace. She introduced us to several other employees and we came to the understanding that this is the heart of the restaurant. The food will draw you, but ultimately the people who guide you through your experience will define your experience.
There’s more opportunity to share with co-diners here as well, in the lounge. The bar seats six and we were joined by two other fascinating and friendly couples and regaled stories of travels and culinary experiences all while enjoying our courses and peeking at everyone else’s glorious plates of elevated down home cooking.
I personally made the pilgrimage for the gnocchi which was, as advertised, one of the best things you’ll ever eat! Our amuse bouche was a lovely ouef foam with a crisp. Slightly truffled. Our taste buds were lit up and excited by this surprising bit of foreplay. So we ordered several small bites and pours and commenced casual conversation as we glided through the evening. We were surprised by a dish of rich, glossy chocolate in a shallow bowl with crumbles and a quenelle of rich ice cream. (We returned the following night after dinner elsewhere for this fyi). They also make THE BEST espresso martini I’ve ever had. Magnificent! August is a memorable event. Do not miss this restaurant. The glorious days of fine dining are alive here. Take yourself back to a time where all worries and stress fall away as you are pampered, wined and dined in a historic and opulent location.

Photos didn’t happen due to the exquisite experience of dining at Restaurant August. Pulling out a phone seemed crass. Each of us enjoyed two appetizers, getting to taste the other’s choices. We delighted in the bluefin tuna with passion fruit granita, venison tartare, black & blue gnocchi, and pecan smoked Iberian pork. Wine selections were spectacular. The hummingbird cake rounded out the meal splendidly. Thanks to our server, Felicia and eight-hand man, Gabriel, we were well cared for.

Y'all.... for real....

I can't say how happy I was to go here. Every piece of food was EXQUISITE.

Had the Duck in Three Ways and the Red Snapper. Each was excellent in their own ways and I was sad when they were gone. The duck in 3 ways was really quite a treat. It was nice to experience it in such an excellent and diverse way. The red snapper was creamy, slightly crispy, the perfect level of salt and seasoning and just all around tender and flakey.

The staff was so kind, they brought out extras for my wife's birthday. Got the passion fruit and chili sorbet. Little strong to my pallet, but very tasty. Comparable in taste to some Mexican spicey candies.

Out of all the great food in New Orleans, this place is a gem.

This place is amazing! I travel all over the country and this is one of the best meals I have ever had. The staff was awesome. Specifically Nick, the bartender. His service was above and beyond. The food was perfectly prepared and the flavors were better than I had expected. I plan to be a regular any time I come into New Orleans.
