Tatte Bakery & Cafe | Newton Centre

Ordered:
-Smoked Salmon, Avocado & Egg Sandwich: look at the picture, need I say more? Delicious.
-Chocolate Croissant: generous amount of chocolate! Flaky outside. Just wish it was a little more airy. Overall satisfied.
-Flat white: solid drink!

Vibe: Bright cafe with lots of seating. But it’s so popular that you may have to wait for someone to leave in order to sit.

Parking: Street parking.

Would I return?: Yess!! Loved it.

I visited at lunch, while the restaurant was busy, the bright interior feels so inviting. I had a delicious turkey sandwich with a creamy pea soup. The cucumbers in my sandwich gave it a lovely fresh crunch and the warm pea soup was a perfect compliment to sandwich. Really great lunch!

Tatte has gluten free bread but I'm not sure if celiac safe, with so much bread around - cross contamination possibility is high.

We chose this place for Sunday brunch because it was close to our Airbnb and we are glad we did! It was very busy but the food tasted delicious and their espresso bar made us some high quality lattes (and we are coffee snobs from Washington state, so we don’t say this lightly). The atmosphere was classy and the dishes/pastries were a French Mediterranean cuisine. I love my eggs with ricotta, goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes and sautéed spinach on bread. We would 100% recommend!

Great place to have breakfast or lunch, fresh, good quality and fair price.
Self service

Come here at least once a week. Fantastic coffee, pastries, and food. Highly recommend the shakshuka and croissants.

Strong wifi and particularly good for working when it's not the brunch or lunch rush. Otherwise, can be quite popular and thus crowded.

Drinks: The drinks can take about 5-7 minutes to make.

Matcha latte - It is milky and rich. I like that it is not obviously sweetened like Starbucks, but you can add your own sweeteners from their offerings.

Mocha - It is smooth, dark, and also not sweetened.

Tatte house latte - the honey halva latte, is their unique offering. They use a house-made halva syrup, which tasted semisweet and definitely nutty. It isn't something I would order on a regular basis because it doesn't suit my tastes, but it is different from the usual if you're looking to try something new.

While they don't provide the option explicitly, I was able to ask for half decaf when I went late in the afternoon.

Only 12 oz drinks fit into their mugs. You will get a paper cup instead of you order a 16 oz drink or order to go.

Food:
I only tried a brownie once. It was decent, but I didn't think it was anything special. All of their brownies are flourless.

Atmosphere:
This place can be rather noisy from people talking if it's very busy. You can still hear your own conversation. They also play music quietly.

There is plenty of seating and open space, but it does still get packed at peak times.

Service:
Service has always been excellent each time I've been here. If you're dining in, they give you a number on a stand to take to your seat of choice and they will look for you when your order is ready.

Nice little bakery and coffee/tea shop in Newton MA. Plenty of parking nearby. Nice variety of baked goods. Also have soups and sandwiches. Nice variety of coffees and teas. It was VERY crowded when were there (3:00 on a Saturday). And it was very loud. They waitstaff was friendly, but swamped. Recommended.

Great location. Had the Lamb hash for the first time after like one hundred time I visit this place, amazing dish.
The bake goods are fantastic and coffee never disappoints.

👍I never like croissant but Pistachios croissant is great, especially the pistachios filling! It’s just doesn’t feel nice to have crispy pieces falling all over when eating it
• Matcha latte is unlike the one you get from Starbucks - not sweet and heavier matcha flavor which is something I like 😆
• You can try lamb hash if you like that dry herb/ hash flavor, taste kind of like traditional shakshouka - not my thing

Fantastic vintage 1930s vibe. This is the closest thing you get to French pastry without going to France. I’ve had amazing experiences 100% of my visits. I usually order pastry and coffee but their lunch dishes are well up to scratch. It’s always very crowded, but in Newton there’s parking. They are famous for a few items like a tart filled with mixed nuts and honey and then they serve enormous meringues like you find in Paris. But every pastry is done with excellence. It’s always a really memorable and lovely experience to go here.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe is one of many in the surrounding metro Boston area, but I've not spent enough time following the brand's tremendous success. Their Newton Center space definitely communicates a Manhattan vibe with the decor, but the open space makes it a great meeting place. The menu is varied, and gluten free options are available.

The food is a bit pricey, but that is because you are paying for premium ingredients. Enjoy the atmosphere and the vittles, and take your sweet time hanging with your someone at Tatte.

Hands down the most beautiful cafe’ in Boston and prettiest of all the Tatte locations. Peaceful space to work and/or chat with a friend in the ❤ of Newton Center. You too can get a perfect mocha latte from the beautiful barista w the blue hair.

Great place for a coffee with friends or brunch. Nicely located, with a nice, cozy atmosphere 👌. Really liked the sweet French toast.

I recently visited Tatte Bakery and Cafe and was blown away by the deliciousness of the Tatte Signature latte with Honey, Halva and Cardamom. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the latte was expertly crafted.

The cafe itself is spacious and has a modern, inviting atmosphere. However, it can get quite packed at times, which means finding a seat can be a challenge. That being said, the café does offer both street parking and a parking lot, so finding a spot to park your car should not be an issue.

Overall, I highly recommend Tatte Bakery and Cafe for anyone looking for a delicious coffee or pastry in a welcoming environment. The latte I had was truly exceptional, and I can't wait to try some of their other menu items on my next visit. So, it's a great place to hang out with friends or to have a quick bite on the go.

Very tasty. A bit expensive but worth it. Ham and cheese croissant was delicious. Vanilla latte was also great. I took a Pistachio cherry tart ($7.50) Togo for later 🙂

The employees are very friendly. waiting time is short. enjoyable environment. You can go and have a pleasant time with your friends. There is always parking for the car.

My all time favorite place for breakfast / brunch. Definitely my go to place for every occasion, the relaxed and homey ambiance is always a comfort. Absolutely love everything about it especially the service there.

I’ve never come in here and it not be busy but that’s because their food is actually quite tasty. Their beet latte was amazing and the halloumi sandwich is a favorite of mine.
