Boston General Store

Lovely spot I really wanted to check out on our travels. It is a sustainable shoppers dream with lots of Japanese stationary, candles, bath goods, home goods, etc. A look on their website gives you a good idea as to what they sell. It’s such a charming shop! There was some street parking but none was open. We pulled behind the shop to park on a back street and had a lovely walk past the beautiful houses. I would highly highly recommend a visit especially if looking for a gift for yourself or someone else. With our purchase they also gave us some complimentary hand spray. Really thoughtful.

The Boston General Store is a great store to visit. It is like many other stores with "general store" or "country store" in their name in that it has a variety of products for your home. They have stuff for the kitchen, bathroom, and other miscellaneous items like art supplies, tools, and candles. They also carry locally sourced goods like Vermont made jams. A lot of their products seem to be of good quality and they seem to focus on sustainability. For example, they are able to refill soap dispensers to avoid the waste of buying new ones. They also have a very nice selection of quality kitchen knives. If you can't drop by the store, they have a website where you can order many of the same products you see in store. I still recommend going in person for the experience.

Love this store! An amazing collection of pens, pencils, notebooks, journals, cards and so many beautiful functional house items, teas, drinks, snacks, and pets items too!

Such a cute store. Unlike most boutique type shops it’s not a bunch of useless junk. Everything is well made with high quality products/ingredients. There is something for everyone. They have serve wear, art supplies, candles, apothecary, a refill station, etc. I would say it’s pretty reasonably priced too it’s not somewhere I would go looking for inexpensive things but somewhere I would go to get high quality things that will last and are fairly priced. I will definitely be coming back. I stuck to the apothecary section and am extremely satisfied with the lotion and deodorant I got. And the staff is equally as wonderful. My dad was looking for oat meal soap and the girl found it for us quickly. I would just ask that you don’t go in and be shocked by the prices because the are 1000% worth it. If you are looking for deals go to Walmart.

Super cute shop. All sorts of zero waste supplies, stationary, local gifts, and more! Definitely going to be my go-to for holiday shopping. The folks working were knowledgeable and friendly. I love that they have a rewards program too! It's one of my favorite little spots in Dedham. Their Christmas ornaments are so fun and out there.

Incredible treasure trove of well-curated gifts and treats. The staff offered great customer service and were so friendly. I took my sweet time feasting my eyes on each thoughtful display. Loved the zero-waste items, practical-yet-beautiful household items, and art supplies. Dog-friendly!

Love this store and the owner is the sweetest! There are so many wonderful gifts. I've purchased candles, deodorant, drink mixers, hot sauce, and honey; and I'm sure I'll be going back for more. Amazing mix of options. A great addition to Dedham Square.

I've now been five times to this location and once when they had a temporary spot at Legacy Place. The owner and every person I've encountered have been super helpful and very friendly. Some of the stuff is a little bit pricey, but it's all high quality, very functional, very cool, well designed and built to last. I do as much gift shopping here as I do personal, maybe more. There are a lot of handmade and fairly local products as well. I'm super excited I can go to the same store without having to brave the shopping mecca that is legacy. Keep up the great work! I'll be back again...and again...and again.

Great little store, I’ll definitely be back! This is the only place in MA that I’ve found with Proraso shaving supplies, and at a great price too! Many many high end and high quality Italian, Japanese, and French wares for the bath and home

I love love love this place. Dedham is so lucky to have it! If you want unique gifts, to support local artisans, or to go low-waste shopping (like bring your own container for household product refills) this is the place.

Got to visit the Boston General Store the first day they opened while they were still finishing up all of the set up. The selection is an interesting mix of things. The owner was very welcoming and was very helpful. I will definitely be back. Plus they have a dog that hangs out at the store, so that's definitely a plus in my book!

I thought it was a little pricey, but I was looking for something out of the ordinary. The purchasers I made for myself and for gifts were wonderful. I am making another trip there tomorrow!!

As a local it’s so great having a store like this in town. A bit pricey, but everything they stock is A++ quality and guaranteed to be a brand you’ve never heard of that will impress you. Friendly staff and a great vibe that brings a little fun to old Dedham.

What a fresh and refreshing place! They’ve made the old new again with lots of charm and quirkiness! After going there I wanted to pack up my old kit bag and map the wilderness.

My favorite place to shop for gifts and home goods. There is always something new and it’s all carefully curated. It’s not cheap but it’s all high quality and there is something in every price range.
