I was stuffed! I have to say, this was, hands down, the best Cuban sandwich I've ever had. It was huge and delicious! My boy ordered himself a bacon cheeseburger that he enjoyed very much. The staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. It's an hour drive from my place, but I hope to be back soon.

We were seated and served super quickly. Our salads were delicious! My boyfriend’s jerk chicken was especially good. Had a slow burn to it, though!

Always one of our favorite places to enjoy when in town. Food is fabulous, but cooked to order, so expect a wait. Dining area is small and if you choose to eat outside, they don't offer service to those tables.

The Cuban Sandwich was the best Cuban I have ever had. The Lobster Tacos were to die for. And the Sweet Plantains were great! This is a very authentic restaurant and I HIGHLY recommend eating there. Not to mention, their Sanitation Score was a 100!!! I have literally never seen a score of 100. Awesome job Tropical Grill!

My husband and I are Cuban American, raised in Miami. We came to Spruce Pine, NC, on vacation and had dinner. It was delicious!!! I was amazed with the variation of caribean platters on the menu.

Delicious Mahi Mahi Platter cooked to perfection. Crispy on one side and the meat is still juicy and tender. Latte is fragrant and smooth. Very friendly staff. Will definitely be back

Decided to come here on a whim since we were staying at an Airbnb nearby, ended up having one of the best meals we've had in a VERY long time that left us nothing but happy and filled to the brim. I meant to take a picture of the food before we got it, but the Jamaican chicken plate deserved a full clean plate. Our server was polite, caring, and a joy to talk with along with the chef who made our food. Every single part of this experience is worth every cent and more. We will be back 1st thing when we come to visit!

Okay my new favorite spot in town. Cute and cozy. Authentic and fresh. I thought prices were high at first but when I realized how fresh and the love that went into the food we didn’t mind. Best salsa ever!!!! Absolutely incredible and the staff was super nice. Owner and waitress both made suggestions to us and even let us try some new dressings she had.

We went to The Tropical Grill for dinner on our first day of vacation in Spruce Pines. The small indoor seating area was packed with international handmade items for sale. I ordered the soup of the day, chicken vegetable. It was delicious, my girls' favorite food on vacation.

The portions are huge, service was incredible our server was very sweet and attentive, the owner came out to make sure I was happy with my steak everything was delicious and very fresh. Definitely recommend and I would I love give more stars if I could. Also buy something from their gift selection. The proceeds go to a very worthwhile cause.

The only thing I can say about this restaurant is I wish it were bigger, the food is great, the merchandise is beautiful, the service is extra friendly. My favorite restaurant in Spruce Pine. The Cuban is my favorite, even better than the sandwich I had at a restaurant owned by a man who was from Cuba. If I could get a Cuban coffee, wow , I'd visit regularly. It's worth the drive, absolutely.

Delicious food in downtown spruce pine. Loved the colorful salsa chips. Ordered shrimp nachos and had leftovers for two days! Massive servings and great prices. Will definitely be returning! Lots of precious Knick knacks inside ranging from bags, keychains, t-shirts, and more.

The food was amazing. Something completely different for me and my husband. I got the mango garlic chicken. He got the Jerk Hamburger. We shared the jalapeño poppers and some chips with their house salsa. ❤❤ I hope we get to come back to North Carolina again so we can come back.

First off, you would not expect a great Colombian restaurant in little Spruce Pine. The restaurant is very small - 6 tables inside, 4 outside. They have a booming takeout business, so if there's a wait, just get it to go. They are prepping everything "to go" currently due to COVID, even for dine in.

We had empanadas, tacos, and quesadilla. Their chips and salsa were great as well. My wife even enjoyed the green tomatillo sauce, and she's not a salsa person. The empanadas were authentic, and hand-made from corn. The best part of the meal was the chorizo taco, made from authentic Colombian chorizo (very different and much better than Mexican chorizo.)

We will definitely return!

We ate everything, and it was awesome. Very sweet staff and owners, great place to go if you have time to relax and have a great conversation. Empanadas were great, coconut shrimp platter rocked, the lobster sandwich was amazing, and they kept the chips and salsa flowing and the waters topped off.

Fresh and flavorful food, prompt service even though they were busy. Will be happy to return!

Grew up in Florida where Cuban food is a big thing. Best area to go, outside of Cuba, is Miami for great Cuban food. I was blown away to find this hidden gem in western NC. The food was amazing! Tasted like I was back in Miami. If you are looking for great food this is the place to go. It was a little detour out of our sightseeing but well worth it. Would go out of our way every time to eat here. Can't wait to try everything from their menu.

Do not leave town without trying The Tropical Grill. Food was amazing, mango shrimp was spot on! Atmosphere and family very inviting, attentive as well as entertaining!

So this little place is a diamond in the rough. The food was very good, and the outdoor seating is a little interesting since it's right on the road. However, it's a neat little place tucked away in a small mountain town.

With its colorful tables and benches out front, it's easy to spot this place! We were able to find a parking spot along the street right in front.

The cozy compact interior is even more festive, with the walls lined with numerous and varied woven bags and textiles for sale to benefit Missions in Central and South America and the Caribbean (according to the menu).

The menu features a vast assortment of items from those regions to try. The pork in the Masa de puerco was a little dry, but were pleased with the grilled Choripan sandwich and coconut rice and plaintains. The quatro leche dessert is big enough to share.
