Marchese Italian Market & Cafe

Had an absolute beautiful first time experience for my husband's birthday . We're from the north and have been missing a good Italian deli and cup of coffee. Marchese did not disappoint. I love the family atmosphere and local atmosphere. From the first cup to the sauce we were catapulted back home and enjoyed every sip and bite. Instantly a favorite and will be returning regularly.

they have chef specials, menu orders, desserts, and italian market goodies.

the owner anna is always upbeat and has wonderful customer service. as many times as ive been here, she has many loyal regulars that love her.

there are also wine tastings here and she has a generous range to choose from.

if youre in Virginia Beach or in Hampton Roads definitely check this place out.

Very kind lady she makes you feel at home as soon as you walk in the food is top tier. The pistachio cake is the most delicious cake I've ever had. The place is small but very cozy. I enjoyed listening to the regulars speak Italian. I am coming here again for sure. Thank you

Made a decision to try Marchese while some family was in town. Small facility with huge taste! Everything we had was fantastic, from the soup to dessert, it was all spot on. Will be coming back now that I know how great this tucked-away diamond is.

I have been here 3 times and the food is amazing every time! I recommend getting any of the specials they have that day. The pesto gnocchi was one of the best Italian dishes I have had. The variety of authentic wines they have available is unlike any other restaurant in the Virginia Beach area. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Italian food and wine!

Fresh, delicious and quick. I have both dined in and I’ve placed a pick up order - both times were fantastic experiences and worth every penny spent. In addition to these pictures, I’ve tried the Naples & Bologna panini - both phenomenal. Everything is wonderful; food, service, atmosphere, drinks, etc. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!

If I could give this 10 stars I would! This place is absolutely amazing! I got the rigatoni with meatballs and tomato sauce. Delicious! I also had the pistachio ricotta cake.

This was my first time dining at Marchese's and it wont be the last. The food is amazing and accompanied with outstanding service. We had stuffed shells, lasagna, jalapeño poppers, and a lot of deserts! The owner, Annamaria, was a pleasure to be around. She made it feel like we were guests at her own home back in Italy. You just can't find an experience like this anywhere else!

If you looking for a "local" place with amazing Italian food this is it.

Wife, toddler and I ate for under $30 with two glasses of wine.

Service was awesome, coffee was amazing, meal, and dessert were perfect. It's not a classic dim lit Italian place. It is a vibrant welcoming, feel like your Italian mom is cooking for you kind of place.

If you want Italian, you are screwing up if you are not eating here.

Passed by many times and finally stopped in. Although I didn't have any food (I had previously eaten lunch) the coffee and cannoli were delicious. I loved the atmosphere and they had a nice wine selection and small market to choose items from. I actually really enjoyed the Italian conversation that was going on, even though I had no idea what they were saying, it was still beautiful to listen to in addition to the Frank Sinatra playing in the back ground.

Did a Google map search looking for a new place to try. This place is amazing! It was the owner’s birthday today and people were coming in to wish her a happy birthday. She really has created a small community amongst other Italians because out of 15 people in there, I was the only one not speaking Italian. I felt like I was back in Italy. Amazing food, beyond amazing customer service. Very clean and friendly. Excited to go back soon.

Delicious, healthy, and affordable food! They have great service, and the atmosphere makes you feel at home. The backyard dining area is a peaceful spot, really adding to the wonderful experience. Definitely going to be coming back!

This place takes me right back to Naples, Italy. The best coffee, authentic Italian food, and service!!! I had the "sunshine" sandwich and it was probably the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The little almond cake treat that came with my cappuccino was also amazing. You don't get things like that at a Starbucks or other chain.

The most authentic Italian cuisine you can get here in Virginia. The owner is from Naples and makes one mean espresso. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. 10/10 couldn't recommend more. Felt like home.

So yummy! Make sure you ask for the meatballs or whatever the special is to TAKE HOME! We served this evening…even the pasta was the best I’ve bought- tiny market had excellent olive oil and sauces👍

My wife and I found this hidden gem on the day we arrived to Virginia. We were tired from our flight and needed a pick me up… I’m European, have lived in Rome and in these last 3 years I’ve been in the USA I have been on a quest to find the best espresso outside of Italy. I haven’t had any success (in 3 years!!) until now!!!! Finally a real espresso in this country!!! It was thick and mellow, just perfect!!
Now, my wife had a slice of the pistachio ricotta cake and I kid you not, that was the best cake we ever had, again no joke… so good that we ordered another piece to take home with us!
Additionally, Annamaría was incredibly sweet and service full, a true Italian, a true Napoletan, she was awesome!

Always pleased to stop in Annamaria’s store. Something special about her talking in Italian to her customers and family which makes this place unique. Love her paninis with fresh baked bread and the espressos are simply the best in town. Must stop in!

Great place with very warm and helpful employees. Felt welcomed right at the door. I searched a bunch of places for Guanciale and couldn't find it anywhere as the butcher in Ghent had reserved all of it for another customer already. Thank you for the tips, my carbonara came out great! I will be returning in the future. :)
