Soul Mountain Restaurant & Bar

We had a fantastic dinner here while visiting friends in Front Royal. My wife had the BEST catfish I'd ever tasted, and she said it was amazing too (she's a catfish lover, so she would know). Delicately fried, not greasy at all, and a large piece (not the tiny little pieces I've seen my wife get at oat places). We had some tasty and potent cocktails as well. Everything was reasonably priced and staff were helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this place!

My parents took me to this place for a lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. I knew from what they had told me the food was going to be good but, WOW! I could not believe the catfish meal. Now understand this wasn't a place that just fried up a ton of catfish and served it until you got your fill, but 1 large catfish filet excellently prepared true foodies know what I mean.... my mother had the Chicken/steak and cheese and that was an explosion of flavors that way beyond my expectations for chicken. Great Job, I will be back.

We searched Google for a restaurant in Front Royal and Soul Mountain had some great reviews. They definitely live up to the reviews!! The service was excellent and all the staff were so friendly. We ordered the recommended dishes and were so happy with our meals. 1/2 rack ribs with Mac and cheese and pulled pork with Mac and cheese. The sauce was wonderful and ribs fell off the bone. Highly recommend stopping here for a great meal!

While we heading back from Shenandoah, we stopped by this place for dinner. We ordered their popular menus and OMG, it was soo good. The manager had a lovely chat with us. The Amazing food, big portions, and fun atmosphere. If we get chance to go Shenandoah again I Will definitely be back !

Tonight's dinner at Soul Mountain in Front Royal, VA was terrific. We were greeted with excellent service that was both attentive and accommodating, and the food was amazing.

We opted for 'The Big Earl’ dinner, a generous platter that included lightly breaded catfish, four succulent large shrimp, and a standout Maryland lump crab cake. The crab cake deserves a special mention – it was brimming with fresh, tasty crab meat. Accompanied by seasoned fries, the entire meal was served piping hot.

The restaurant has a rustic backwater feel, creating a cozy and inviting ambiance. It's bright and clean, with background music that is pleasant without being overpowering, allowing for easy conversation.

On the way home and stopped by for lunch. When we arrived, only the chef in the kitchen and one person working, front of house. I was sure we'd be waiting a while to get our food. I was happily wrong. Service was fantastic and the food was fast and good. As a vegetarian, it's always nice to see options that don't seem like after thoughts. I had the black bean wrap. It was so good. Hubby had ribs. They were so good he had a second order👍🏾

This is a really cool, fun place. Food and drinks were delicious. Loved the fish taco! Great crab cakes too. Howard took care of us, and made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Festive decore, barrier-free, plenty of parking. We were a party of four and everyone enjoyed their food. Will definitely return!

Beautifully decorated low key spot to get delicious soul food. I’m talking SLAAAAMMING homemade recipes. Docs barbecue sauce is a must try, go ahead and take a bottle home with ya. As soon as I saw the menu, I knew I’d be back until I had ordered every dish they offer. Prices are more than reasonable for the size and quality of the meals. Everyone I encountered here was helpful and pleasant. I look forward to the many more stops we will be making here. Don’t miss out on your chance to dine here!!

Excellent, large portions of food. All prepared in house by family. The atmosphere is simple eclectic, the food is BBQ and soul food. We were seated quickly, as a large group. The service was fairly quick and the selection was great.

Food was superb. Something as simple as a burger was phenomenal- generous and sooo tasty. Best cheeseburger ever!!! BBQ awesome.

Homemade soul food prepared fresh! Great space with a bar that showed the Super Bowl. Howard (manager) runs the place with his cousin (chef) and deliver exceptional customer service!

Ordered the fresh fried Catfish and it was seasoned very well and full of flavor and tender meat. This is definitely a great stop in/out of Massanutten after some skiing!

P.S. The cornbread here is AMAZING!

Right away, I did not feel like this was going to be just some visit to a restaurant. I didn't walk in with my mind set on a dish, nor did I expect to feel like a restaurant was made to cater to my taste buds. I can't stress enough the care and love that went into the food. I literally wanted to try everything on the menu but my appetite said yes. I was a glutton, I almost ate the salt shaker, I bit my wife out of frustration because she had a chunk of my catfish. I AM WARNING YOU!!! Once you go you will find another reason to stop by. If I see you there, wave, raise a toast. Just thank the chef for all the hard work he does.

Great first time experience. Super friendly staff, very attentive. Good came out promptly, at the right temperature, and full of flavor. Menu is extensive and offers a little bit of everything. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back myself!

Came here after a long ski trip, and it was AMAZING. The food definitely tastes home made, and Howard, the manager, was such a great host. Please be sure to try the Jerk Chicken with Coconut rice, it will change your life.

This place used to be on Main St in Front Royal for 14 years. They moved to the Frint Royal Diner and it is nicely refurbished inside. A Jamaican motif. I and my wife had the BBQ chicken wrap. It was very tasty, not too spicy, a little sweet, and it had a good amount of chicken in it. (Not chicken nuggets, real chicken). The service was fast the food came out quickly. We will be going back with friends.

Excellent food. We had the crab and artichoke dip. (OMG!), split the BBQ sampler, and washed it all down with a local beer.
Generous portions too. Totally recommend!

Was mine and my wife’s first time here and the food was amazing the ribs fell right off the bone .I personally loved the sweet tea. And service was 10/10. Friendly staff and not super expensive.
