Front Royal Outdoors

I was part of a scout canoeing day this past weekend and we had such a great time at Front Royal Outdoors. They dealt with the kids great, had nice equipment and made the entire trip smooth. We had a great day on the water! The two labs that greated us in the parking lot and again when we pulled up to shore at the end of our day, we're a nice bonus. The scouts got to play with the dogs in the water and they were so sweet natured.

Great outfitter, they are super helpful, they answered all of our questions with knowledgeable insight. The staff is exceptional, they take care of everything you need and provide a great experience on the river. The canoe we rented was super steady and did great fishing on the river. Cannot recommend these guys enough! Had an amazing time on an amazing river!! And if you get there early, the two furry "customer service specialists" will keep you entertained, lol

We came here twice, it was fun and we'll definitely come back next time we're here. The Shenandoah River is beautiful! The water was quite low and we could see a lot of fish which was fun. The employees were friendly and helpful, they brought us to the starting point by schoolbus and picked us up at the end.

The glamping tents are great! We stayed in the Massanutten tent- the view is amazing and the setup is perfect for all weather. It has a covering and fireplace so even in the rain you can enjoy a fire and the view.

Excellent Company! Very easy to communicate with and flexible with plans. I wanted to do an overnight canoe trip, unfortunately the river was really low and the trip I picked wasn’t going to work. The gentleman at the desk pointed me in the right direction to getting an overnight trip in. My daughter and I had a blast, even though the water was low. We caught tons of fish and camped on state land. I can’t forget the drivers that dropped us off and picked us up. They provided great info and were very professional, thanks gents! I would recommend this company every day of the week if you’re looking for a great boating experience.

Front Royal Outdoors is the complete package - highly organized with an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and positive staff and top of the line equipment. We put twenty people on the river in low water conditions and FRO alerted us to the areas where things might get a little crunchy and how best to avoid it. Just an amazing day on the river!

Gorgeous day on the Shenedoah River! Will shared great advice and carried our kayaks from and to the bus. We need some rain, but the rapids are still fun with a Shenedoah shimmy. Our second visit in two weeks, and the water was better than last week. Great equipment and service. We’ll be back!

This was my first time kayaking with my husband on the Shenandoah River and dealing with Front Royal Outdoors. We have been white water rafting on the Gauley River which is very exciting and quite challenging but if you want something fun and relaxing and not as challenging for a change this was great! The people we dealt with were very nice especially, Will our bus driver on the way to the river. He seemed to enjoy his job and we really liked talking to him.
Next time I will probably try out the paddle boards or take my granddaughter tubing.
I really like that this is self guided so you can do your own thing without being in a group.

Booked a weekend family getaway for 24 of us, and came away with an amazing memory we will all share for the rest of our lives. Glamping and lodging was charming, very comfortable, well equipped, with an amazing view. River activities were a blast. But most importantly, the staff was so well organized, friendly, helpful and full of smiles even when they were obviously slammed. Thanks to all of the FRO team. The love and laughter our family shared was priceless, we are all talking about it and are hearts are full! I suspect we’ll be back!

Very friendly people for the crowds they have to deal with. Well run , good prices, great choices , much fun. If you've never been on the shenandoah, you just found your new favorite place.

We just bought two used kayaks from them. Ryan & Will were super helpful explaining the pro/cons of the various models and the prices are very good given the condition of the kayaks. Ryan is also a Veteran so if you stop by, be sure to thank him for his service!

So fun! Well organized, great staff. We booked online on the morning of, and everything was set and ready to go when we arrived. The 3 mile rafting excursion was perfect. Lots of wildlife to keep the whole family entertained

From the time we arrived until the time we left it felt like we were treated like family! Our instructor Will was extremely thorough with detailed instructions and hints for an easier ride for us. We are a group of four ladies aged 48-68 and we all thoroughly enjoyed Trip 2, 7 mile rafting trip.

Great experience with FRO. Third time we’ve used them and their gear for a nice relaxing family float. Definitely check the rover conditions beforehand. River was a bit low and a big guy in a tube has a deep draft… may have bumped a rock or two. Knew that going in so it was all good. 3 to 4 hours for the 3 mile float. Wear sunscreen and bring drinks.

This experience was great!! The people that works here are really compromise with their job. They were super professionals and explain us and guiding us with every detail about our kayaking route. The equipments are in good condition and they have places for you to change your clothes and everything. The prices are reasonable and they give you plenty of time for you to enjoy the experience. I loved the route and the places we were. We will come back again. Thank you!

Front Royal Outdoors is always kind, attentive and made going onto the river a breeze. It's so sweet that the dogs greet us when we first arrive!

I was there on a Monday morning in September and was taken care of as if it was peak season. Everyone was welcoming and did their jobs well. I will definitely be back!

We had very nice tube ride. Everyone at the site was very helpful. They helped at the end with our grandma getting up to the lodge area very thankful.

Company was great and equipment was in good condition. We received good detail about where to take out and had an option of 2 mi or 7 mi. The state park trip we signed up for was not running due to river conditions but we’re given another great option. Definitely check the river conditions link on their website. I didn’t do this and got the vibe that most don’t, but it is important! Highly recommend this fun activity if you’re visiting this beautiful area! We saw a bald eagle and lots of heron, turtles, and of course fish!

We took trip 1 which is 1-3 hours. With two adults, a 15 yr old and a 6 year old we did it in 1 hr 15 minutes and had a blast! Small rapids and riffles very easy going and a lot of fun. Beautiful scenery and the staff where all very professional, courteous and informative. The equipment has seen better days but worked great with no problems.
