I stayed in cabin 7 over the weekend with my husband and 2 pups. I've stayed at a handful of va state parks now, and like usual the cabin was great. The cabin had plenty of space for all of us. All va state park cabins come furnished with all the dishes and pots/pans that you may need. This particular cabin shares the driveway with cabin 6. We did have zero cell service though, but there is wifi available at the park office.

I went to this park in the fall season and it was the best decision. The water is so clear and the views are beautiful. The people who like fishing, this is the best spot for fishing. Also the people who don't like mosquitoes must keep mosquitoes spray. The cabins look cozy and worth staying.

Very nice state park. Thoroughly enjoyed the trail along the river and Culler overlook. First time staying in a camping cabin. Comfortable and clean. I wish the peak vents could be blocked to keep heat in during winter months.

Ran along the river and looped up to Cullers overlook. Great view. I stayed in Camping cabin #41 and it was more than accommodating. I ended up bringing a pair of heaters and was able to keep the cabin comfortable. The park was quiet not too many campers in early December. I definitely look forward to coming back to explore more.

We camped in one of the RV pads. We’re from Florida and this was one of our stops heading to Maine. This was absolutely the best state park we have ever camped in across the country. The pads were very spacious and spread out and the bathrooms and showers were clean. We didn’t explore much of the park but we did go to the overlook and went to the river from the camp loop. We saw many deer, rabbits, and a black cat that must’ve lived somewhere in the campsite. If I lived in VA, I would definitely come back and try out one of the yurts and cabins!

Great cabin stay. Many River access points. Local grocery store sells rafts so you can use at the park. Just as good as paying for the tour I think.

Great trails from easy to difficult. Graveled trail along the river. Dog friendly.
Cozy and clean cabins. Great views from trails. Lots of birding opportunities.

One of the most beautiful parks in Virginia. For almost all seasons thia park offers the visitors a lot of activities.
The picnic areas next to the river are very inviting.
The walk trails have different levels of incline to suit your choice of difficulty.
There are a million amazingly beautiful picture frames that one can try to capture the beauty spread all around and still will need more. The pristine views of the river, trees touching the clouds, flowers that are wild and beautiful, trails that seem to be going for ever and more..
The overlook offers an amazing view of the river below.
I have visited here many weekends and clicked a few hundred pictures. Walked the trails and enjoyed the fresh air.
This park is truly a Gem

The RV campground is well maintained and large enough to fit three 2-person tents and a canopy comfortably. There is also a shower room and bathroom nearby. Water and power at each RV camp site.

We went to see the Bluebells in late March 2023. The Bluebell trail was well marked. You'll find the trailhead by the canoe launch, not in the campground. The trail was lovely and easy to walk, we only did half because we spent time playing at the river. The bluebells were stunning. The bathrooms were well kept (it's the off season, so can't speak for cleanliness during busy times). We thought the picnic and camping areas all looked very nice!

Update: the overlook is lovely in the fall. Added fall photo from 2023

Beautiful river, not too deep. You can easily wade near the shore, but water shoes make it easier because there are lots of sharp rocks. There are lots of picnic areas and they have bathrooms. Tubing is not so easy because it is not deep enough and lots of sharp rocks, but a raft or canoe would be fun.

Beautiful state park overall! Campground was really nice with quiet, private sites that were each very well maintained. Dogs welcome, clean secure bathhouse, laundry facilities, hiking trails along the Shenandoah River, etc. Park also geographically located in good area - very close proximity to Skyline Drive, 8 miles from city of Front Royal and maybe 12-15 miles from Luray…so plenty of things to see and do!

Beautiful park no matter what time of the year you come. Be careful when in the picnic area after a rainstorm passes through. The ground becomes very slick if there is no mulch or leaves on the ground. The visitors center is very nice. The overlook provided some spectacular views of the Shenandoah Mountains, Shenandoah River and the valley. Lots of hiking trails to go on as well.

Nice big camp spots, ours was shaded. Lots of room between spots as well. Many hiking trails in the area as well as launches in the area. The launch at the park itself was tough, though. Just stairs. Bath house was nice, the shower was adequate.

I plan on coming back for a weekend in the cabins. The trails are well-marked, visitor center is beautiful, and this is a great state Park with many accessible parking areas and overlooks.

Very helpful ranger made my visit a delight. The building is really cool, inside and out. The landscaped water feature was neat to see outside and even cooler to look at from the large observation window just to the right as you enter. Covered picnic area off the left side has a great view of the river. There are a few exhibits inside that are worth looking over, especially the taxidermied animals.

Spent three nights in the RV campground here. Park is really nice with an abundance of hiking, all of which is really well blazed and not terribly strenuous. Some great views to be found along the way. The river is the real attraction here with plenty of rafting and wading opportunities. All dog friendly, which is always a plus for me.

Beautiful park, great visitors center. Ran into a grumpy ranger at the contact station upon check in, when I asked about a Jr Ranger program, but we all have bad days now and then.

Definitely go to the overlook while you're here. It was beautiful, even on a foggy and rainy day.

This park was very beautiful! Lots of hiking trails to choose from! One of the cutest little visitor centers that I have seen. A few breathtaking over looks, and it seems to be very well maintained and cared for. This is a very pretty spot to stop and have lunch as you're driving through or enjoy hiking for the day.

Excellent getaway in a beautiful park with multiple trails for walking & hiking. Cabin with 6 rooms, 3 full bathrooms, front & back porches with rocking chairs, gas fireplace, outdoor fire pit & charcoal grill.
Highly recommend during any season.
