Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant

We've been to the Plano location twice and really enjoyed it. This location is just as good! I usually get the chili Relleno but this time I opted for the Pescado Parrilla and it was excellent. Service was excellent as well. We'll be back!

Our visit started out excellent. We had the BEST waitress, literally the best we've ever had. She was efficient, order was flawless, refills kept coming and she checked on us several times. And the place was packed at 130pm with soccer families etc. So I was impressed!! Food was great, closest cooked mexican food from TX compared to NM Mexican food. We'll be back!!

I’m not a big fan of Mexican food and I don’t normally write reviews but this restaurant did such a good job, that I was compelled to write this. When you walk in, you notice the great decor. They really put serious effort into making the scenery pleasant. The waiter was nice and attentive. The food arrived hot on a plate that was heated beforehand. Again I’m not crazy about Mexican food, but I enjoyed the meal especially the green salsa. Throughout the meal the waiter kept coming back to check on us and refill drinks despite there seeming to be more tables than he should be able to handle. It was pleasantly busy, but not overwhelming which is a very good balance. The bathroom was clean too. You should visit this restaurant for a good experience and a good meal :)

Today, I spoke with a manager named John. I ordered Uber eats and the driver forgot most of our order and only grabbed one bag. He called to let me know what happened and tried to reach out to Uber himself. Although the uber driver was not helpful to me, John was awesome. He tried everything he could to get the food to us easily and after we decided to just pick it up, he was kind enough to remake all the food fresh so that it was hot/fresh. He was such a kind person and seemed to truly care about customer experience. This is my first interaction with this location but won't be my last, because of this manager. Exceptional!

Our first time here and it was a wonderful experience!🌟 We were shopping at Nebraska Furniture Mart and were hungry afterwards so we decided to try Abuelo's and it did not disappoint! The service was phenomenal! Our server, I'm so sorry I can't remember her name, maybe Claudia?, She was incredibly nice, funny, prompt with service, refilling drinks, napkins, bringing our food, etc. Unfortunately in this day and age, kind and prompt servers are dwindling so to have such a wonderful experience with her was a breath of fresh air. The bathrooms were very clean as well. The food! The food was so delicious! The chicken, which I always find to be a little dry at most Mexican restaurants, was surprisingly tender and moist ;-) The shrimp had it's own unique bbq sauce that set my taste buds on their own spicy and sweet journey :) The guacamole appetizer tasted fresh and the chips and salsa that you get were delicious and a great variety. You had the spicy salsa, your traditional table restaurant salsa and a nice sweet, with a little bit of citrus thrown in there verde salsa. Over all a wonderful first time at Abuelo's :)

Food and service is excellent.The avocado enchiladas were tasty along with the beans and mashed potatoes ( papas).
Three separate sauces went well with the crispy chips.
If you like Tex-Mex this is a good choice.Original restaurant founded in Lubbock Tx Try the Queso too.Chili relleno was perfectly prepared.

What a neat place! This is one of the newer Abuelo's locations and they did an excellent job. The service is always friendly and helpful. The food always seems to be consistent too, with many options to choose from. They also have a good selection of tequilas. You should enjoy your time here.

I love Abuelos. This was my 1st time at The Colony location. There was no wait to be seated and the food/service was really good. I enjoyed it!!! 😋

The food was absolutely amazing!!! Atmosphere was very pleasant. Our waitress Camyrn was so attentive to us... it was simple amazing!!!! Definitely 5 stars and we will be back for sure!!!!

Always a pleasurable dining experience. Wonderful atmosphere, fantastic wait staff, menu selection from traditional Mexican fare, Tex-Mex, and seafood. Vegetarian selections available as well. Build your own enchiladas. Don’t forget desert. Flan is my favorite.

A bit on the expensive side but so worth it the food drinks and service were superior!!

Food was a little dry, like it had been under a heat lamp or warming oven, but still good.

Drinks were amazing ! Loved the hand shaken drinks vs frozen ! Good food. Got the sour crème enchiladas a little spicy but was good! Will be back I’m sure

Great place for family. The seafood flavor is great and the atmosphere is great for any family or friend occasion. Large portion and service was fast. Price is also reasonable with authenticity

Very nice Mexican restaurant. There is plenty of free parking located outside the restaurant. The interior looks great and very clean. There is food portions are large and fair for the price. The quality of the food is phenomenal and savory! This is a great place for date nights, company outings, lunch, and family dinners.

Excellent service by Nick and the manager on duty. Combo beef and chicken Fajitas were very good. Pork Tenderloin Abrigada was fabulous. El Jefe margaritas were also excellent. Very quiet there on this Monday early evening, but this Abuelo's continues to be a gem.

This is the best Tex-Mex in North Dallas. My wife and eight-year-old son shared their combo fajitas, and I had the enchiladas (two beef and two cheese). We also had the queso. Service was so refreshing an amazing. It’s hard to find really good service these days. Abuelos has great service. Tony and Jessica served us- excellent service. Don’t miss out on the best Tex-Mex and give them a try.

Such an awesome place. Best place to have dinner. Being a vegeterian, loved seeing they have an exclusive menu, many places don’t have such…. Kids menu is awesome… my kid and my frnd’s loved eating. They wanna go again!! And the portion… wowww huge texas size portions!! Loved the fiod totally!!

The only thing, it would be great if they could accommodate bigger crowd at a time. Wanted to dine with family and frnds, we were 25-30 people. They said they would not able to give it at a spot!!
