This Dr. is the worst psychiatrist I’ve ever met.

I came to her for issues with ptsd. I was put on several medications right away. I began having side effects, and then was misdiagnosed repeatedly with many more disorders that I do not have and given more meds.
Eventually I was on so many meds (that contradicted each other) and having so many side effects, that I didn’t feel connected to my own body or mind.
One side effect was feeling extreme urges to be “unalive”. It felt very scary and out of my control. I expressed this repeatedly to this Dr. and and to my therapist at the same clinic at that time.
I was told by this Dr. that she was a Dr. and not a therapist, instructed by her to keep taking the handfuls of meds and to sign a weekly piece of paper with the therapist agreeing not to “unalive” myself. I did this for weeks, continually expressing this overwhelming feeling that I must do this.

Then one day, I did it. I did not feel in reality whatsoever by then and felt as if I were passively watching a movie play out. Thankfully, I was discovered and rushed to the hospital in time. I woke up in the ICU confused and scared. I spoke with another psychiatrist, and I was informed that the interactions of the many medications had caused a psychotic break.

I was then weaned off of all of these medications. That was close to 20 years ago, and I have never felt like that again, though it took time for the side effects to go away after weaning off of everything.
What lasted so much longer was the added ptsd from my experience and realizing that I was a human experiment, a Guinea pig. I later met another patient who had a similar experience with this Dr., but that’s not my story to tell.
For myself, if I hadn’t been so busy putting my psyche back together and trying to heal from this medical nightmare during the statute of limitations, I would have sued for medical negligence.
All I can do now is to warn others about not blindly going along with anything because someone has “Dr.” in front of their name.
I would like to believe that in the time between then and now, these dangerous practices have ended, but in case they haven’t, this needs to be said and I should’ve said it long ago.
