Freda's Seafood Grille

A serendipitous find. In town for only one day and this treasure appeared on a Google search for "restaurants near me".
Everything about our experience exceeded expectations. My son is a picky eater and the chef was kind enough to go off the menu and make a dish my son actually loved. I ordered the seafood paella. There was seafood in every bite, and I ate the whole thing.... So good! A must when in the area!!!

We had a wonderful pre-Valentine’s Dinner at Freda’s seafood. We were opting for healthier foods to fill our gills. Plenty of nice wine choices. The Shrimp Diablo, was a favorite, bacon cooked to perfection, and wasn’t spicy. The crab stuffed salmon and crab legs were tasty and not over cooked. Everything is worth coming back for.

Dani, our waiter was amazing! I am part camel, my water glass was never neglected. She gave great food recommendations and even offered to take a picture for us. We truly appreciate the quality of service Dani provided.

It was a busy night, reservations are always helpful. We have visited in the past, there is a pianist that plays on certain nights.

First time here. Loved it, from the appetizers to the entrees. Everything was delicious.

This is a locally owned and operated restaurant. Great atmosphere. Lights are low but well lit at your table. All staff were welcoming and professional. We even had the manager or owner stop at our table to check on us.

Our waitress was excellent. She showed no signs of disappointment when we both ordered water instead of an expensive drink.

She knew the specials and the contents of the menu. Very patient while we took our time with the menu.

Food was outstanding. Crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer, grilled shrimp and the crab stuffed salmon for our main dishes. Full of flavor and with the salmon you could taste the crab.

If we're in town again, this will likely be a repeat visit for us.

Google will not let me give this 7 out of 5 stars. Great establishment.

We had a night without kids and came here. We were expecting a casual dinner and we're absolutely blown away by how good the food was! Shrimp Diablo, tomato basil with crab, mango tilapia, grilled shrimp, and omg the creme brulee cheesecake. Drinks were fantastic as well!

Know what made it better? Nicole. She knew exactly when we needed her and stayed clear when we were enjoying ourselves. Drinks never went dry and she had correct opinions on how to really enjoy the food. Grilled bread with the soup? Spot on.

Totally bringing the kids here when they're back!

We've driven by a 100 times and we've read about this place for many years. We'll, tonight we tried it out. I decided to eat fish and should have gone with the prime rib. It all looked amazing and was yummy. It was a bit costly for our budget. The owner did say hello to everyone, but missed our table. She must have seen the frown on my face when I got the bill. If we go back, I'll try the steak. The shrimp was excellent. Atmosphere is romantic.

We visited Freda’s for the first time today for lunch and the lunch menu is fantastic! We tried the crab cake, salmon Florentine and the fish tacos. Everything was absolutely delicious and very fresh. I can’t wait to go back. It’s truly a hidden gem.

Possibly the best dine in restaurant in Austin. The atmosphere was well lit and intimate. The food was phenomenal. They start you off with sweet cornbread. It was great, especially with the butter they provide. I tried the Trout Alexander. Everything was cooked to perfection and came out in a timely manner. My server Rob was amazing. I will definitely be back.

Wow! Fredas Seafood Bar and Grill truly blew me away with their wine and food pairing experience! 🍷The flavors were impeccable, and the ambiance was delightful. Husband got the etoufee. He liked it but it was different from the typical etoufee. I got grilled shrimp, baked potato and asparagus. Impeccable service.

Really nice place with fantastic service and good food. We had 31 people and everyone enjoyed themselves. Carlos was a great host making sure we all got our food cooked properly and beverages refreshed.

Went for dinner for my 50th birthday. I ordered the swordfish toped with lump crab over mushroom risotto. It's absolutely amazing.

This was our first time at Freda’s Seafood Grille for brunch. Jaycee our server was exceptional, and made our experience so much more enjoyable. As first timers, Jaycee was so knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. The service and food were great! Even when we thought we were ready to leave. We stayed longer for dessert. Thank you Jaycee for the awesome service. We will be back.

We loved our experience at Freda's! We went for a very early dinner (so we could bring our newborn) to celebrate my husband's birthday. From the start, they wished him a happy birthday, were so friendly asking about our baby girl, and did an excellent job telling us about the menu. Freda herself even came by the table to say hello - our waitress told us Freda comes in every single day.

Our food was also incredible. We had the shrimp Diablo appetizer with their housemade cornbread, and I ordered the sea scallops while my husband ordered the NY strip and shrimp. We are already talking about when to go back!

We had to wait for extra 10 min on top of our booking time, maybe it was New Year Eve and they are short of staff. However, the front desk and our waiter were very nice. Food was amazing. It is hard to choose but our favorites were the prime rib, filet mignon, and homemade cheesecake. Everything else were also great too, they are serious about their food. We are bring our family back for sure!

The food is absolutely amazing. Every single thing we ordered fish cake, crab stuff mushrooms, crab stuffed salmon, paella all fantastic. It is a must visit.

Service was great.

We have used the private enclosed room for several family parties. Food and service are always good. They can allow for dietary needs such as gluten-free options. We bring our own cakes and are sufficiently sequestered from the rest of the clientel that we are comfortably uninhibited. Salmon was well prepared and not fishy. Try the cucumber martini. The art can be interesting.

This place is amazing the food and the atmosphere was so great. Our waiter Paul was on point. His service was Great. Me and wife dined in to celebrate our anniversary. Everything was perfect man the blackened reds snapper was perfect. Man just a clean place with good food. Derrick.R

We had an amazing time with friends at the wine pairing dinner this week. The ambiance is great and the bar service while waiting for the dinner to begin was awesome.
The host and staff did a great job personally greeting everyone who attended and learned names in short order. While it was apparent many had done this event before they treated new comers like family as well. The wine descriptions and winery history were informative and interesting. The wines were absolutely phenomenal.
The entire meal was absolutely incredible. There was a seafood or steak option and on this evening we did the steaks which were delicious and perfectly done. The bacon wrapped shrimp appetizers were so good I almost wanted to drive back to Austin tonight for more.
We will be back for a regular dinner setting but also plan on attending another wine pairing dinner event in the future.
