Brick + Mortar (Alden Shop)

THIS is the place to get good shoes- better quality than Allen Edmonds (sorry to see them go downhill). Excellent, knowledgeable service, limited edition Alden offerings... I couldn't have enjoyed this experience more. Will be coming back for some Cordovan.

I had a great experience got the right fit in the with Brick + Mortar. They took a great deal of time, during a busy Alden trunk show Saturday, to make sure that I got the right fit in the right boot.

Kudos to Yenni and Jeff who showed great hospitality during my visit. They are very professional on their jobs, measuring my exact foot size (both width and length) and recommending the right size shoes based on the measurement.

It can be intimidating to walk into a store like this, given the shoes are $500+, but I had a great experience. Sean helped me find my size and let me try on a bunch of shoes, with no pressure. I am really interested in these shoes now and hope to buy my first pair soon.

I just bought my first pair of Indy’s today from Sean, a super nice guy and very helpful. He warned me that these boots can be addictive ,and I believe that I’m already a junkie! Trying to figure out how to never take these off. Sean has a great store with a very big selection of Aldens and a couple of sweet dogs hanging out. Definitely one of my favorite shopping experiences. Do yourself a favor and go visit the store.

Knowledgeable, friendly, with a selection of custom-made styles, and with that unexcelled Alden quality to boot. If you actually want quality men's shoes, why would you go anywhere else?

Yenni is amazing! A friend of mine has always said I need to buy a pair of Indys and I love the look so I finally decided to take the plunge. Living in the Midwest, I really wanted the lug sole for use all year round. Also, living so far away from their store, I did not want to spend the money without knowing exactly how they would fit. I reached out to Yenni and she walked me through the process. She understood my concern and once we figured out the size I would need (which was way different than I would have ordered without consulting Yenni), said she could send me a pair to try on. She shipped the pair to try on, they fit like a glove! I was then ready to order my own pair. I sent the pair back to her, she applied the funds to my new pair, and they should be delivered this fall. I cannot wait. Thank you Yenni!

I bought my first pair of Alden here. I was certain that I want a pair of Indy, but I was unsure about my size. My foot is a bit wider. The owner gave the most professional and insightful comments and suggestions I have ever had. Hands down five stars!

Just wow.. If you are find if quality footwear, good shop.. If you like amazing personal service and knowledge from the sales staff/owner, it is unlikely there is a better shop anywhere. She is fantasy icky nice, knowledgeable, helpful, kind and curious. If you are in the area and like or are curious about Alden shoes it is a must stop location.

First let me say to all who come to, live in, or plan to visit Seattle, that this place is one in a million. You walk into shoe heaven when you enter this quaint, perfectly styled, and fresh location of Brick + Mortar! This is the Alden shoe shop of your and my dreams. I walked about eight blocks (of Seattle's crazy hill downtown) in order to visit, and I would have climbed five times that once I saw all Yenni had. Yenni is the owner, and she is an absolute gem to work with. She was able to explain her store, concept, and reason for everything she was doing!
I was treated kindly and courteously even though I was in my vacation basics (shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops). Many stores of such a caliber would have been cold and rude. I was so pleased that Yenni didn't even blink, and treated me like a king from beginning to end. She gave me space at the right time to examine the shoes, and was always right there to answer questions. She sized me and proceeded to search her stock for shoes in my size. She began bringing out shoes she loved, and quickly built a selection based on my responses.
Yenni curates this shop so wonderfully. She has Alden shoes from the catalog, and a huge selection shell cordovan! You can almost never find someone who carries such a wide variety of Alden's, and especially the shell cordovan. This isn't even the best part though!! Yenni is licensed to DESIGN her own collection through Alden, and they are stamped with the Brick + Mortar name inside as well. A chance to own a one of a kind masterpiece made by Alden and designed by Yenni! I was so excited about this I purchased the shell cordovan shoes I had been wanting, and returned the next day for a special pair designed by Yenni.
Seattle is so lucky to have this shop in their city, and I was so incredibly lucky to stumble upon it. If you are in town, and want to experience the best shoes money can buy then take a walk in this shop. It really speaks volumes when the designer and store owner herself is such an amazing person, and so helpful at every level. I will be returning to this shop every time I'm in Seattle, and I have already followed Brick + Mortar on all social media platforms. Her spring line is going to be incredible, and it will be another fantastic shoe I add to my collection. Thank you Yenni for all you do, and to everyone reading... support this amazing one of a kind place!!
