The Friendly Toast

When I was staying at the Hampton Inn with my Son the included breakfast was awful. I looked up a place nearby for breakfast and saw this gem right down the street. The atmosphere was amazing. Think 50s mixed with 80s and just very "cool" feeling. The food was just as Amazing. The service was also really top tier. The waitress was very attentive and polite and it just felt really good to be there. The vibes were awesome. I will go there again the next time I'm here 100%.

My wife and I have been fortunate enough to have traveled the world, and I can say with complete confidence that we had THE BEST breakfast of our lives at Friendly Toast in Portsmouth NH. I had The Irish Benedict, and my wife had The Hash Quiche. Oh my gosh! They were off-the-chain delicious. These aren't like a standard breakfast from IHOP or Denny's. These are breakfast choices I don't recall having had before. The food was so good that we went two mornings in a row. If you're ever in Portsmouth, eat here. Get there right at 8 am because it fills up in a hurry. Basil was our waiter the first morning, and Summer was our waitress the second morning, and they both did a great job.

This place was so great - would definitely go band here again! Such fun decor, menu items, and super friendly staff. The food and drinks lived up to the hype too. Really enjoyed the Bloody Mary flight and couldn’t get over the maple syrup bacon one! Highly recommend this spot.

First...get on the wait list! It's worth the wait! Fun, friendly atmosphere. A must for brunch when in Portsmouth. A lot of scrumptious choices 😋 absolutely delicious. You won't be disappointed.

GREAT place! The atmosphere, decor, cleanliness, menu variety, food and drink seasonal specials, and staff make this place a must-visit! I was excited from the moment I entered and wish I lived closer. You will not be disappointed. My server, Maddie, was so friendly, helpful, and provided great food recommendations. Will come back next time I’m in Portsmouth.

We visited The Friendly Toast in Portsmouth NH for the first time on Saturday Sept. 9,2023. Everyone at The Friendly Toast in Portsmouth NH very polite and professional. Collin was our server and he did a fantastic job. He is polite and personable and he was not pushy (which is an excellent trait). He knows the menu and what he is selling. The back out of the house does an excellent job our food was excellent and our drinks. We will definitely be returning.

Stopped by The Friendly Toast to take a break from driving. Plenty of parking nearby and can pay either by meter or through the ParkMobile app. We got there about 45 mins before closing on Christmas Eve and were seated immediately. Great service from Basil H. Took our order quickly and we got our food within 10 mins. I was not hangry anymore after that experience. Place has a lot to offer for food and drinks. Chicken Cordon Blue Benny and Doughnut Stop Believin’ were delicious. 10 for 10 would recommend to a friend.

There is no better place in Portsmouth to have breakfast. I ordered their Eggs Benedict, a huge glass of grapefruit juice and a cup of coffee at the bar. Great atmosphere! The wait was worth it. I'll be returning every time I'm in the area.

My friend and I came here for breakfast and everything was amazing. We shared the trio appetizer, which consists of breakfast egg rolls, churro bites and jumbo tater tots. We also shared the huevos ranchero dish. So many different flavors going on with each item. We both absolutely loved it. We think they forgot to put the beans on the ranchero, but we were both fine with it the way it came out. The service was friendly and quick. The atmosphere is super cool. They have two bathrooms in the back. We'll definitely be back. We may actually try the Portland location next time around. 🙂

We were on a getaway weekend in Portsmouth. We went to Brunch here. We had to wait a while to be seated. We were seated at the bar. The service was great, the manager even came by to check on us. The food was delicious. My Wife got a fried rice bowl and I got some kind of chicken sandwich. Our plates were clean.

Amazing place! Super great vibes and delicious food :) Definitely go here if you want some great breakfast burritos or crazy sandwiches (or if you just need a place to hang out for the afternoon). Totally want to visit again!

My family thoroughly enjoyed eating here last month while we were catching up in Portsmouth, NH. You might call this a breakfast restaurant but it's really more of overall experience and that included some really far out breakfast entrees as well as flights in mimosas. The service was totally spot-on. The food was amazing. And the overall atmosphere was very eclectic. We're definitely coming back here!

This place was AWESOME!!. I had the Bloody Mary flight, Churro Bits and Corned Beef Hash Eggs Benedict. All was really good. The food was delivered really fast and our waitress, Khristin, was super friendly and told us neat details about each dish. My wife and I love this place!

I am absolutely obsessed with this place. I will absolutely be planning a trip back to Portmouth in part to go here again. This is my favorite breakfast restaurant of all time in a beautiful, walkable town. My only problem with this place was deciding what to get because there were so many amazing options. The mimosa flight was one of the best I have had, and it was hands-down the best avocado toast I have ever had. The quirky decor and super-friendly waitress were the icing on the cake. I came out of here with a souvenir sticker and t- shirt to commemorate the experience.

Second time back here, first time was around 2018, had a great experience the first time around and I was very happy to return here! If you’re into eclectic vibes, cool antique-esque decor & great food this is the place to go.

Amazing vegan options, the breakfast burrito was fantastic, perfectly seasoned and full of flavor I enjoyed every single bite; the homey breakfast styled potatoes were delicious and perfectly cooked, the fresh salsa was good also. I was so happy I only ordered one vegan pancake because it’s about 10 inches! Delicious perfectly cooked I would suggest asking for more syrup because of the size but that’s just me because I love my syrup evenly distributed.
The serving size is definitely worth the price!

The mimosas were great as well, love the effort in making everything look as good as it tastes.

The four of us had a delightful lunch. I'm always impressed by clean, attractive restrooms, which was true here. Our server, Basil, was very nice and even took our picture for us. Great food and fun retro atmosphere.

Best breakfast I've had in A WHILE. Worth traveling for! The atmosphere is retro diner-chic, and it gets busy, but the service is excellent and you can't beat the flavor! Everything was perfect. Can't wait to try a location closer to home.

Our food was so good and the atmosphere is so interesting! I loved our food but the appetizers were even better than our main dishes and the best appetizers I’ve ever had!

What can I say? Great food! Excellent service!! Cool atmosphere!! Went for breakfast after driving 5 hrs to get to Portsmouth. Figured we’d give it a try. So glad we did! Highly recommend! We’ll definitely be back!!
