I hired Mr Shapiro to handle the processing of a divorce and two QDRO's. I already had a separation order in place that was prepared by another attorney. That went through ok. He seemed knowledgable and made me feel comfortable with his experience. What I didn't know was that I was going to be turned over to his assistant Amy Padgent who wasn't even a paralegal and who made error after error causing the QRDO process to drag out for over 20 months. If my ex husband had not helped in the process I don't know that I would have ever gotten the money. I NEVER had any contact with Mr. Shapiro after the initial contact except one phone call when he seemed concerned that I was going to halt the divorce process. 20 months of calls and e-mails asking to meet with Mr. Shapiro and countless cancelled meetings. I never had a direct line to him, no cell phone to him, not even an e-mail to him, everything went through Amy. I filed a complaint with the Virginia Bar Association that is in process as I am writing this. I am writing this so that no one else goes through what I went through. It was a nightmare.
