I live over by the lake and had no idea this park was here until I saw it during a run. Very cool "wall-less" museum concept with narratives from Fruitvale residents of all different backgrounds. Oakland could use more parks like this.

I really like coming to this park with my dogs. I let them run and walk here, when I go out for a walk with them in the neighborhood. It's a really nice park and close by for me. I went to the museum but it was a long time ago but I'd like to go check it out again by myself. But yeah overall really nice park to go with dogs ^_^

Neat park with lots of history. I'm excited to come back and get a closer look at everything next time. This would be a great place to bring kids probably 7-10 who can read and appreciate all the stories on the plaques and whatnot. I definitely would have enjoyed it at that age.

This was closed when I visited, by my daughter had done a report for her Master's and was able to tell us all about it. Very enlightening. A lot of the Paintings are outside on walls. So there is plenty to see even when it is closed.

Nice little historical park/museum complete with kids play structure and community garden. Technically there is a second lower-tier area with a creek running through it but it is skummy because locals hangout and trash it.

Best place for field trips. Learn about the living experience in pre Oakland... Native Americans and the early non native settlers. Nice community garden too. This place deserves some support.

Great park with lots of history long before Oakland was modernized. Has no parking lot but does have a visitor's center that looks like a house. The staff also hosts kid programs and community gardens.

Amazing beautiful place! This park is the location of the first permanent dwelling in the East Bay. Antonio Peralta built an Adobe on this spot in 1821 just 2 blocks from my house and where I walk my dogs twice daily

An AMAZING community gathering point-where history, culture & unity is felt! Don't miss the free Peralta house tours. I do have to admit though, it gets a bit "shady" after dark 😠

I'm impressed by the local movement to upkeep this important piece of Oakland history. I'm glad that it exists to serve as a reminder that minority groups were an important part of this nation's development.

This is a quaint little park, with a museum that's the real gem. You can learn so much about the history of Oakland and the Ohlone Native Americans.

Nice little museum in a historic house. The public park next to it could be better kept up.
