Main Street Linear Park

Great park for bikes, walking, and scooters. It is paved. Which is a huge plus. If you go around the whole path it is 1 mile. You do have to cross the street one time to be able to go around the whole path. There is no playground. There is no water fountain. There is a couple of benches and trash cans around the park. Birds love to hangout at the park so on one side of the trail there is some bird poopoo. There are lights on one side of the path. If you like to walk at night the lights turn off at 10pm (that is what the website says)

This is not meant to be a bad review, however this is more of a bare green space than a park. No amenities, etc. save a few benches. But it’s reasonably clean and practical for a walk.

Calling this sad strip of green (now brown due to reduced watering) along Main Street a “park” is an euphemism. This piece of real estate needs some creative work just as the nearby waterfront park or the walk and bike trails along Ralph Appezzato just around the corner to become attractive. Right now, it looks rundown and the fact that the area across Main Street has turned into some kind of unofficial truck stop does not help. City of Alameda: invest some money and work here!
