Sapporo Steakhouse University Place

I went for one of my partner's birthday, and every part of the process was divine! Even before we got there, their reservation service online is easy to use, and they were very understanding when we were a bit late.
The food was spectacular, the hibachi chef was fun and charismatic, and they went all out for the birthday aspects of it! I'd say this'll be a frequent special occasion, but the prices were honestly good enough to be a casual dinner spot too!

2nd time coming here for our wedding anniversary. They do not disappoint! Food was always out quickly, and hot. My husband did want a little more steak, but overall, we are always happy. Jessica, our server, was very kind and attentive. We also drank the broth from our mushroom soup, but avoided the mushrooms since we aren't fans of them, but the broth was delicious.

There are not many phenomenal places to eat in the Pudget Sound Region, but Sapporos is definitely one of the exceptions!

Customer Service:

I have consistently visited Sapporos and I can report this establishment exceeds my standards of in person and over the phone excellent customer service! The teams on shift are always precise & professional consistently over a four year time span I have visited this restaurant! Tina is a tremendous delight, always fantastic & making sure customers receive outstanding customer service in the restaurant, or carry out!

Atmosphere:

The resturant is consistently immaculate! I have never visited this resturant In disarray, even when it’s extremely busy! The decor in the restaurant vibrates with an Asian decor that immerses you in the environment to compliment your food experience! Beautiful atmosphere here!

The Food Quality:

The food quality is above reproach! The menu is expansive & provides numerous entree options! The flavor profile is second to none! They have a sushi bar here as well, everything is fresh & amazing. In the picture below I ordered the Hibachi Grill with Salmon & Chicken to go. This is one of my favorite dishes, it tastes incredible!! They also provide Teppanyaki Table experience!! This restaurant can accommodate various group sizes!! Sapporos does a superior job packing your order if it’s for carry out! The experience is in the small details!

If you are in Tacoma & craving some Asian excellence Sapporo Steakhouse is a Must Visit (MV) Enjoy!

I make foodie content, meaning I eat at restaurants everyday weekly. This is the best restaurant, seriously. It's clean & cozy. The staff are kind to one another and kind to the guest as well. We felt like family , the level of customer service at this establishment is out of this world. The food is priced reasonably especially for the quality. High quality food for reasonable prices!? Sign me up! They do not set the sushi on fire any more but don't let that keep you from trying this place. They do have a drink that they set on fire called the Fuji Volcano for 19.50 but you can get it free on your bday. You can also get a cocktail for $6. The bar drinks are tasty and strong. We also got the miso soup. Can't wait to come back!!! Thank you Sapporo for being so amazing! If you come here ask for Martha as your server and tip her well please , she's the best! the sushi at sapporo is so yummy and fresh! it is some of the very best i've had in the area. my boyfriend loved his unagi donburi.
sitting in the bar area is always a great experience. there's a male server here with shoulder-length hair, and he is really nice and efficient.
the menu is also reasonably priced, and they have great happy hour deals!

however, i'm not a fan of the hibachi. at $60/person, it was overpriced and underwhelming. the lobster was so drowned in sauce that i couldn't taste anything but salt. the fried rice was hard. the vegetables were underseasoned. the chocolate cake seemed like it was microwaved.
though, i will say that the filet mignon was delicious, tender, and cooked perfectly.

overall, i'm rating sapporo well because the bar and sushi experience is absolutely top-notch.
i'll keep visiting. i just won't ever do the hibachi again!

Fantastic experience here! I had the chicken and fried rice combo on the hibachi grill, chicken was dry (only bc they used breast) but the seasoning was great! My partner had the scallops and NY strip steak, it was absolutely cooked to perfection. We had the Trump roll as well (such a silly name 😳) and it was great! Very fresh. Our chef was amazing and our waitress was just as skilled. We are planning out next trip here already!

Went to Tepanaki for an aunts birthday and it was a fun experience with tasty food. The show was great and they gave my aunt a huge free drink , a lotus opening singing candle, dessert and a little birthday hat. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They cooked the meal without any seafood and served that first and then cooked the seafood because someone was allergic to seafood. That person said that she was impressed because all of the other places she had been to like this would just bring her plate from the kitchen.

Sushi is very tasty and the drink menu is extensive. The tepan grill is fun too. I recommend the vegetable tempura as an appetizer. The “Go Seahawks” and the “Cherry Blossom” rolls are the bomb!!

We had fun on Halloween and came in second for the costumer contest.

Excellent food, the sauces in particular were house made and delicious! Yummy sushi and chicken katsu as well. Lovely environment and friendly service, too!

This is my favorite restaurant in UP. The people are sooo nice and the food is always consistently good! Last time our server was so incredibly sweet 💕 a peice of my napkin fell on the side of my plate with food and she was utterly upset about it. I kept saying NO NO it's fine! I promise I don't care and she was so admit about getting me a new one. She ended up giving us a discount. She didn't have to but she was so sweet 😭 💗

Had a Bento Box for lunch. Service was good. Food arrived quickly. Was very good. Came with soup, salad, two entrees, rice vegetables 😋

The food is good and fresh. We love the bento box and saploro beer. Their staff welcomes you and good custimer service. The ambiance is nice and relaxing. Im glad we choose to est here.

1st time here, but I think I found my new favorite Chinese food/ sushi place. I love that I can get regular Chinese food, fresh sushi, or Hibachi! We ordered off the lunch sushi menu 3 special rolls for $36 and 3 regular rolls for $18. I felt like that was a great deal. Even the salad dressing was a perfect flavor starter. We also ordered Sesame chicken w/ fried rice and it didn't disappoint. I cannot wait to come back.

Absolutely wonderful food here great customer service and the bartender David makes wonderful. I can't wait to try the kabachi side!

1st time here. 1st impression it WAS super busy! The staff handled the Xtra customers! Over all the menu is fine. Great tasting food & fir the price is was fine. Family night out a special birthday & mothers day all in one!

Love this place! Food is so good. Used to live in WA and i recently had to travel through the area for work and I made it a point to have dinner here. I have not found another Japanese Steakhouse i like as much as this place. The noodles are so good. The cuts of steak are great, the Yum Yum sauce is my favorite!

The atmosphere is amazing, and the food was phenomenal as well as the presentation. I only tried some sushi, as well as sashimi and it was all amazing. The sashimi I had was chefs choice and each piece melted in my mouth, and were surprisingly big cuts. The California roll may have been the best I’ve had, with warm rice and an abundance of crab. I also went for my birthday because they have a special list of free items for birthdays! It included a huge free mixed drink, an ice cream, a hat, candle, drum song and $10 gift certificate! Amazing place and can’t wait to go again!

This place is excellent! So good in fact that my wife and I went twice in one week! 🤣

I have yet to experience what seems to be the main draw of the place: the chef cooking right in front of you. Each time I've been, I opted to just sit at the normal tables or the sushi bar... But regardless of having the chef in front of me or not, the food is amazing!
Would easily recommend the Scorpion roll, the Sapporo roll, and the Trump roll 👍🏾 Great food, and great sake! What more do you need?

We had the best NYE!! All was perfect!! Our Chef was a riot n kept us all laughing. The Saki part was awesome. Definitely will be back you all are Rockstars!! Best service hands down !!!
