Muir Beach Trailhead

Amazing place to relax! Not too crowded in January and the wind was quite tolerable. Beautiful place to watch a sunset.

Some people were burning wood for campfire which did bring the air quality down a bit but still a very nice place to hangout.

Such a beautiful place to visit with your family and friends. Literally breathtaking ocean views and the wildlife here is always active. We saw birds and active little fish.

We went here in search of a nearby tide pool that wasn’t too crowded and this beach didn’t disappoint. It’s a cute little beach with a small tide pool at one end with mussels, sea anemones, little fishies, and a few crabs scattered around. Parking was adequate and there were restroom pit facilities.

Muir Neach trailhead is very pretty and has awesome sights of the Beach itself and the sea colliding with the cliffs. Trail is a big loop that can go as 5-7 miles depending on your selections eith a couple of nice places to see. Trial might be a bit too difficult at the beginning for some people due to the steep incline to go up the hills but gets fairly easy after that. I’d recommend bring water and plan for a picnic at the beach after the Trail 🌲 as the beach is very calm and nice 👍🏻

Easily accessible trailhead with tons of parking, get here early! Trail is a nice boardwalk into a fine sandy beach with tons of space. Very little shade on the beach and hike in but ample space.

Watch out for sneaker waves but check out the tide pools during low tide! Great rock formations too.

Fantastic views and easy to medium skill level trails. You have the option to walk at least 4 different trails starting from Muir Beach. We walked Pirates Cove and had a blast. The dramatic cliffs and vistas will leave you in awe. Parking is easy and there are compost style restrooms near the entrance. Highly recommend.

Amazing view along the ridge overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Enjoyable to trail run it but still do-able to walk it with medium effort. Quite often windy and weather changes quit a bit so must dress up in layers. The beach is popular with dogs. Parking is free. This amazing outdoor getaway can take about an hour with traffic from San Francisco city.

Great hike! Definitely take water and a hat since there's no cover/shade while on the trail. Awesome views of Muir Beach, SF, and a few other coves.

Muir beach to Tennessee valley trail loop is super beautiful with great scenery. We started at 9am and parking lot was almost vacant. We did the trail clockwise so the biggest incline was at the beginning. As other people said, we passed through a farm house and opened two gates, so wipes are necessary to have. After that there’s that steep incline. First we spent sometime at Tennessee beach and walked passed the rocks on the left side which were filled with great wavy colorful rocks! Unbelievable! Then we headed to the pirates cove and we climbed down to the beach. On our way back we saw three whales which were very small from far distance but bringing a binoculars would have been a great idea! We loved the trail overall and people were very mindful and all had masks on! Highly recommend this trail!

Muir Beach to Tennessee Beach Loop is an absolutely fantastic trail. BRING WATER!!! Brought only 2 bottles per person and we were 1 short for this trail and was extremely dehydrated at the end. It was not super sunny but the sky was clear, it was a modest ~72F. Extremely easy trail to navigate, using a combination of the trail map and signage. Overall difficulty is probably moderate, not a lot of steep inclines or descents. Some parts of the trail are more narrow than others and 2 people passing in opposite directions sometimes require close contact. Beautiful scenery and the beach is absolutely worth it.

Beautiful little beach, from parking area follow the boardwalk to an overlook trail with awesome views of the cove!

Really good trail with pets

Made it to Muir Beach via the coastal trail from Tennessee Valley trailhead. Pirate’s Cove is a must stop. You can loop around via coastal fire road and Fox trail.

Beautiful spot where a creek flows to the ocean. They have campfire rings too in case you want to build a fire. Short walk to free parking with bathrooms.

Very nice place to hike. When we were there it was very cloudy and misty.
On weekends the parking lot fills up fairly quickly so come early!

A great trail that leads to Muir Beach and into the Marin Headlands which branches off on to other various trails. A large parking lot provides plenty of parking during weekdays not sure how crowded on weekends.

Not too crowded, mix of sand and rocks great sunset spot away from the city.

Amazing trail! Tennesse Beach worths all the efforts to going down and then climb back up.

The trailhead offers some of the most amazing views of the ocean, and a perfect place to have a picnic and enjoy the seaside in privacy. Keep the beaches clean by collecting any plastic you find near the shorelines!
