Sports Basement Redwood City

Great place for buying sporting goods. They have a wide ranging selection of equipment for soccer, baseball, skiing, bikes, basketball, football, golf, volleyball, along with clothing items, nutritional bars, and others. Large parking lot makes it a pleasant shopping experience.

Bought my first gravel bike here and I couldn't be more happy with the experience. The bike shop dude was very friendly and knowledgeable. With the big bike sale they have going on, the prices were unbeatable.

The redwood city store is massive and I thoroughly enjoyed browsing through the store and picking up accessories to go with my bike.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Sports Basement over the past three weeks, and I must say that the exceptional service I received from Ben has left a lasting impression on me. Despite encountering a series of questions and problems during my visits, Ben consistently provided excellent and comforting service, going above and beyond to assist me.

Helpful staff, great selection, big discounts. EDIT: they also were very nice to me with returns, since I had gotten a poorly fitting boot size. A different Sports Basement location (SF Bryant) was way more rude about it, despite only having used the boot for 1 day. I will continue supporting this location and spending my money here (which is a good amount, as I need to buy a lot of snowboarding gear)

The staff at this location were so lovely to work with me in finding the best snowboard gear for this upcoming season (special shoutout to those in the snowboard/ski section of the store!). Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. They even waxed my new board for me and installed the bindings so it was ready to go once I walked out of the store. This location is huge but still so organized. 10/10 experience.

I initially came to Sports Basement looking for the right shoe. I came there for the first time with my dad. I purchased a pair, wore them at work, and learned they didn't like my feet. I returned back with my father again, returned the shoes, and dad began shopping for shoes for himself. He chose a pair after trying on several, the staff was very attentive and took good care of him. The sales lady came after him to remove the security device, and then proceeded to help me find the right shoe, she was a great help. I chose one after shopping 1/4 of the time my father spent, amazing! I then chose to treat myself to some suede slippers with wool lining, as they were on sale. The gentleman brought me out a few pairs, I made another selection and we headed for checkout. It was a great trip with helpful staff. I am not sitting at home with my slippers on, every time I get u[ and walk on the tile floor, there is the sound, klunk, klunk. Guess I'll go visit my new favorite store tomorrow to have them remove the security tags!

I needed new bindings drilled and mounted for my skis quickly in order to have them ready for my upcoming ski trip. The staff in the ski shop at Sports Basement Redwood City really helped me out by getting this work done very quickly. The skis also look great. Special thanks to Tyler who went in on his day off to complete my skis in time. Thank you very much!

The Basement is always a positive surprise. I find nyself walking somewhat overwhelmed with the scope of the store. Then someone passing by asks if they can help.... And then they are total rock stars, so knowledgable and helpful. I love this store.

The veteran salesman (guy with a beard who wears Ride Lasso snowboard boots) was extremely helpful, patient and knowledgeable. I spent over 2 hours trying on boots and obsessing over trying to find the right fit. He left me alone yet continued to check on me periodically to see if I needed anything or had any questions. Great experience. Thank you.

Lindsay was super helpful in helping me get set up with the proper ski boots, and skis. She was also very helpful in answering my numerous questions regarding fit, stiffness, etc, and she took the time to understand how I skied and my needs and concerns with the skis. She also made it a priority that I was comfortable and knew how the ski would feel relative to previous skis I have used past seasons.

Super helpful employees! Helped me pick up an online order I placed yesterday, the very next day. I was excited to replace my old, reliable sneakers after 3 years of running in them. If you’re buying new shoes, you can bring your old pair to donate here. Come here for your sports-related needs!

Kudos to the ski shop. I unexpectedly bought used skis when coming to pick up rentals on our way to the mountains, and Tyler (I think?) was able to squeeze in the necessary bindings adjustment, with absolutely zero notice, in a short amount of time. Much appreciated, thanks again!

Thursday 1/18/23, I decided to go to look at e-bikes at SportsBasement in Redwood City.
I was looking for an Aventure 2 Fat Tire step-thru but had not ever found one in stock. Online inventory search reported that my e-bike was not at any SB location. I just decided to go in and see. I was surprised to see the exact bike I was looking for. There was only one.
Jack, in the cycle dept immediately offered me help. He answered all my questions honestly and suggested I take it for a test ride. Once I completed my 10-15 min test ride, I decided to purchase the bike. Jack was working hard and there were other customers who needed his attention. Jack politely took care of everyone while keeping everything organized on my bike. SB builds the brand new bike for you included in the price. Somewhere there is a box that the e-bike comes in and that box has tools, manuals, keys, and the charger. Jack knew where everything was and gave me the original box. I joined the SB club for $25 and that entitled me to 10% off everything I purchased including the bike. Jack fitted the bike to me, then hoisted the bike up and made final checks and adjustments. Jack also installed a mirror I had purchased, and he added sealant to each tire.

Jack did an outstanding job.

I felt so comfortable that I decided to ride the bike home. 20 miles. I am 67, not in great shape(hence the e-bike), and there are very steep hills near my home the last 3 miles. It was dark when I got home. My wife put away the insurance policy… But I made it home just fine while still getting a great workout. I felt a little weak in the legs but the rest of me felt fine. I rode the bike the next day (before the rain) and all went well and my legs are fine. All features on the bike work well.

This location is always well-stocked and the staff is super chill and knowledgeable. Last time I came in, Nick was very accommodating in spite of them being understaffed and got me into a sweet snowboard setup.

I had a pair of skis mounted with the Redwood City Sports Basement. Despite them initially mounting the bindings in the wrong location, they took responsibility for their mistake and I was overall still happy with the experience.

When I brought in a new pair of skis to be mounted, I had requested them to be mounted 4cm back from the center core line. Since this was a custom mount location, I wanted to be sure this was done correctly. I drew a line in pencil (on the skis) where this location was. It was also clearly written out on the notes for the ski mount. The skis were ready after ~1 week, which I thought was a very reasonable turnaround time. However, when I picked them up I found that the bindings were mounted in the wrong location. They were mounted on the "boot center" mount, which is the traditional mount for the skis. This was 4cm off from the mount I indicated, which is quite significant. Furthermore, skis have a limit to how many times they can be mounted and this mistake compromises the future of the skis. I worked with Phil to fix this issue. He was very apologetic for the situation and acknowledged the mistake. Sports Basement then re-mounted the bindings in the correct location within several days. I also received a gift card and a wax on the skis before I took them home.

Overall, Sports Basement messed up here. This was an expensive pair of skis and the custom mount was clearly indicated in several ways. However, I recognize mistakes happen. I was impressed with how Phil dealt with my situation and handled the issue.

The employees here are wonderful and helpful! Store has a lot in stock compared to other places. Parking lot is spacious. If you sign up for a membership , they donate to the place you choose through their long list. And you get a discount! Thumbs up to this place!

This is the biggest sports store I've ever been in by far. They have everything. Good to great quality brands in swimming, skiing, camping, outdoor wear, bicycles, skateboards, shoes, helmets, baseball and much more. You'll need at least an hour there to figure out what you want to buy because you'll get distracted with other things you want but didn't go there for.

NATASHA was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! I was shopping for shoes, and totally unfamiliar with the wide selection of styles and features. Natasha approached me and was incredibly friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, informative - very impressive. She answered all questions, was patient and available but not pushy, and explained details and benefits I would never have known without her expertise. Because of her, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sports Basement - and I got the perfect shoes I was hoping for!

Just got a snowboard with shoes and bindings tonight, I got tons of quality tips on the gear, the folks over there know what they are talking about and are very friendly and willing to help you find the best and most appropriate gear. I had not changed my board for over 20 years, but was happy to know that the brands I like (Salomon and Flow) are still there and making good stuff. Thanks a lot Lindsey and everyone over there for the help.
