One of my treasured haunts growing up. I've walked these paths many times over the years to clear my head. It's beautiful in all seasons and great to get some fresh air. Level waling trails that wander through marshes teeming with birds. Cloudy, sunny, rainy, it doesn't matter. Always worth it. My dad and I have gone on walks there since I was a child. I hope it always stays open to the public. There are public restrooms at the beginning of the trail and walkers, bikers, dog owners, bird watchers and runners all happily share the space. Also a secret fantastic spot to watch fireworks during 4th of July and you can see them go off all throughout the peninsula and at Shoreline. That and the moonlight run are the only nights when you can visit after dark.

Visited here on holiday from UK to participate in Parkrun. What a beautiful location the reserve is to stage the parkrun & thanks to the organisation for allowing it in their reserve. Thanks to the organisational team of volunteers who give up their time to keep the event going and ensure there is no impact on the environment or other visitors. It was a beautiful day and a great escape from the hustle of San Francisco.

The baylands are a great gift to the local community. there would be no use for this land (a ferry terminal might be welcome, though) so it forms a perfect refuge right by the nearby towns. The most unexpected aspect of the preserve is a small science center with very knowledgeable docents - with microscopes at the ready and lots of explanations.

I take Marley our 3 yr old hiking the many different trails. Easy to walk, enjoy the scenery and refreshing atmosphere.

Absolutely amazing way to experience nature when you live in the Palo Alto suburbs. Plenty of parking, do note they do close pretty early, many times before sunsets and a ranger will park right next to the gate to hand out tickets if you are late so be very judicious about your timing.

Excellent open space for trails and watching birds. Has a large duck pond with parking around it. Great place for an afternoon stroll with young kids, watching the planes, birds and the bay.

The whole area to me is know as the duck pond, anyways great views of the bay lots of family on the trails and lots of ppl with dogs as well, this time of year its muddy so be careful of that. Very cold and windy as always, trails connected to east palo alto and one goes to Dumbarton bridge, thanks for taking the time to read my short review 😎

A gorgeous place to go for a hike! The trail is flat. Has benches on the way. Best time to go is early in the morning - when you will see the most birds. Best seasons are Spring and Autumn, when you get the most migratory birds. Can be windy and cold if you go in the winter and hot in the summer, so dress appropriately!
Have fun on this trail!

Beautiful and flat nature preserve, perfect place to walk or bike. Theres a picnic spot, water, and restrooms available (the one i went to was a porta potty, albeit a clean one).
It is peaceful but not quiet- the wind is very strong, there are small planes taking off nearby, and birds everywhere. There is also a boardwalk that takes you right onto the water. I’m already planning on returning to see the sunset!

A great place to walk around aimlessly, cycling is definitely a better choice than scootering. Will definitely visit again. Many parking spots available, but I saw many people parked near the main road turning into the preserve, I am not sure why.

Awesome place to watch birds. Great trails to see the bay, too. Totally flat for all ages. Went here by accident. Original just wanted to visit Shoreline Park but pleasantly found the trial. Luck birds here.

Have you left the Bay Area and are considering moving back? Take a stroll through this area. We need to encourage more nature preserves like Baylands. It’s a gorgeous reserve that is very convenient to Palo Alto. The trails are well maintained and would be great for a lunch time stroll, morning run, or mid day cycle.

This location is incredibly stunning and soothing. I'm not sure if it was the cloudy weather, but gosh, this has been so refreshing for the mind. Try it out without a doubt.

Scenic walk
This is one of my favorite places to go for walks
Shoreline park gets crowded ,this place is relatively less crowded
Ample parking, lots of opportunities for bird watching
There is trail overseeing the Palo Alto airport and golf course
Seasonal wild flowers , wild life , flying planes
All in all a refreshing walk

What a lovely place, and so conveniently located. This nature preserve is just off 101 at the Palo Alto/Mountain View border. Once you find the trail, it's immensely peaceful to traverse. There are offshoots if you don't want to go all the way around. What I loved so much was just how serene it was and how close to water and vegetation it was... even though it's only a few minutes from my office. Highly recommend for those in the area for an easy stroll.

What a fantastic park! Bring bikes and enjoy this amazing part of nature in the middle of the Silicon Valley. We saw birds, fish and even an awesome snake. We are definitely coming back very soon.

During this time.of social distancing this is a very quiet and peaceful site to visit. Normally parking is not an issue but the streets or closed so you might have to do a bit of walking. . . Little more exercise. They're trails and benches for just taking it all in or letting your brain rest.
