City of Burlingame Shorebird Sanctuary

Very pleasant surprise when staying at the airport Marriott! This clear clean path was not very heavily traveled on a recent weekday morning and I got in a very fast paced walk before a long day of travel. Of course there is lots of airport noise but the bay views are refreshing. I felt safe enough.

We saw an egret and a heron, and a crab 🦀

This random treat was the best amenity to our hotel stay. We hardly had any time to spend and I randomly got two lifers (Whimbrel and Ridgway's Rail!!) the morning before we left. This in addition to a number of shorebirds birds quite close up. In addition to White- and Golden-crowned sparrows, pigeons, and bushtits along the path, we had Long-billed Curlew, Black-Crowned Night Heron, Mallard, American Wigeon, Canvasback, Northern Shovelers, Clark's grebe, Western Gulls, and then Semipalmated Plover, Black-bellied Plover, Other Pluvialis (American Golden?), Least Sandpipers I think, Short-billed Dowitchers I believe, Black-necked Stilt, beautiful American Avocets, Willets, Marbled Godwits, Whimbrel, Ridgway's Rail(!). Actually, I didn't mention, but this was up a way from the actual sanctuary area (near/past the Marriot from the sanctuary).

Burlingame is a great peninsula town; with very desirable and welcoming atmosphere. It’s beautiful, with so many old trees and architecture. Nice place to live or visit! I have always loved Burlingame, though I grew up in San Mateo. Burlingame does a better job keeping it’s town less congested.

we went by this morning to see what birds we could find ..found 7 species...all lovely but the tide was pretty far out so so we're the birds. if you're going to bird watch and photo them and don't have a scope go on days when the tide is high. very nice rural spot

Very tiny path along sea shore, idea for people who eat at restaurants nearby

Good for a walk by shore.. But did not find any birds in July evening.. we don't know if there are birds other time..

Beautiful place to see the bay and the airplane

Un joli petit endroit. Rien d'extraordinaire, mais agréable.

Sporting dept was rude and said his co worker lied to me. One said I passed the background for shotgun. The rude man was wrong for saying that. I shall not spend my money to them. Please look at the security cams, they don't lie if there is a owner who cares for their customers . I want to support my community and if I am wrong I understand, that ok, but someone lied to me and I felt my rights were taken away yesterday
