Johnson Park

Great park & playground for all ages. Sandboxes, swings, slides. Bring some cardboard for the concrete slide or take a chance finding some left over. Beautiful community garden. Plenty of trees with shade. Grassy areas to lay out a blanket or many benches with backs to sit. Nice walking path around the park as well.

Huge lawn in this park, located in a quiet residential area less than a mile from downtown palo alto. Huge trees provide some great shade. There are two small gardens located next to the playground that have seasonal flowers and perhaps vegetables. Basketball and volleyball courts. Really nice park.

Fun filled park for kids. It's walking distance from Palo Alto Caltrain station, and from downtown Palo Alto. There's a large field next to the park for frisbee, dogs etc. The park itself has a delightful number of slides, swings, seesaw, sand pit and a tall play structure with multiple climbing walls.
No restrooms.

Open lawn for tossing a ball/frisbee and picnic.
There is sand in the playground area, with wood chips beneath the swings.
The play area is fenced in with a toddler fence. There are a few park benches to sit and enjoy a rest. The infamous concrete slide, best used with cardboard pieces. Both my 4 and 10 yo enjoyed the space. Next time we’ll pack scooters for the paths, and be more prepared for a longer stay. Cooler, activities and such.
The adults seemed kind and mostly kept to themselves while kiddos played.
There is also a private area for a community garden with plots. Nice to see and lends a sense of community vibes.
We will be back for sure.

Cute little green space with a playground and community garden. It has picnic tables and a half basketball court as well as sand vball pit (no net though). Love getting boba or ice cream and walking here from University Ave!

Lovely local park with mature trees, playground, mowed open space, and community veggie gardens.

A picnic lunch in the shade is a fantastic respite in this park. However, occasionally homeless people sprawl out and sleep on park benches. Although there is lots of shade provided by the trees, picnic tables, and a playground for children, I still scored this park a 3.

Really nice park, kids play area is fenced in but also has some benches for parents and grassy area that you can sit and or lay out on. Out side the play area is a lot of trees and shaded areas with picnic tables. Also a good amount of on street parking!

This park is a great escape for a bag lunch in the shade. However sometimes transients laydown & sleep on the benches around the park. I still gave this park a 3 b/c the trees provide plenty of shade plus it has picnic tables and a playground for the kids.

Perfect park, amidst greenery and beautiful, well-kept homes.

It's a nice, tidy, little spot of green park space in a neighborhood area near some commercial downtown space. Grab a snack to go from a local eatery and sit in the park while you enjoy it. There's a play space for kids, if you're in need of that, and a basketball court if you want to use it.

This is the best park that we visited in Palo Alto! The young kids (1&2.5) absolutely loved it here and there was tons to do! Bonus points for having a near by water fountain!

Nice park with lots of grass area to sit or play ball with kids. I love that it has a walking path and a flower garden. Will definitely go back again!

Great postcard-perfect neighborhood park. Dogs, kids, adults hangout and play in the grass under gorgeous redwoods, on the novel play structures, basketball, and volleyball courts, and in the fantastic community garden.

Nice quiet park to eat lunch if you work in the area. Beautiful park for kids to play in and a community garden.

Great all around park. I love the community garden. There is a cement slide for the kids. Just bring cardboard to slide on!

A nice place to spend some time with the kids. I recommend to bring sand toys and cardboard for the big slide.

A little something for everyone. Hoop, playground, grass, picnic benches...what more do you need? Also, it's a 2 min walk from downtown.
