Banana Republic Home

BR Home is relatively new but the furnishings currently offered are as eye-catching as anything I've seen in several years. From the exquisite floor/table lamps to the bold end/coffee tables to the gorgeous selection of couches, BR (aesthetically) stands above many retailers who have been occupying the crowded luxury furnishings space for decades. I was immediately interested in their marble floor lamp from a mailer I received and went online for a better look. I've never purchased anything from BR and visited their website, which offers high-ish quality images but falls short of most other retailers for product descriptions. More of a "test" website than one ready for public eyes IMO. I ended up calling BR customer service 6 different times to get a better description of my preferred item or at least a pic but no one could give me either. I did get confirmation the item was in stock before even considering purchase. 3 of the reps offered to contact me back with further specs but none did. After 10 days, I decided to bite the bullet and order this $3,000 lamp. Received an immediate order confirmation email but nothing over the last 11 days. Reached out again via FB messenger to get a shipping ETA but that conversation appears to have died before I could get a response.

A few things to consider: BR Home has no direct number, didn't carry a number of items in any store when I called to ask for photos, and do not offer a new customer discount. They also did not add website functionality to review products. I've ordered similar items recently from CB2 and other stores and all of them are much more descriptive.

Edit: Delivered today (11-3-23). 6 weeks total wait time. Delivery service offers a shipping status page but it was never updated. Literally received a call out of the blue from my delivery team this morning saying they were 20 mins out. Luckily, I was WFH. As for the white marble floor lamp, OMG. Now, I can actually see the beautiful but faint marbling and get why it really can't be seen in an online pic. Almost all of my tables are marble but the type used for this lamp is next-level luxurious and worthy of the price(IMO). Crazy that it weighs 250 lbs. Also, the bulb (not included) sits in a carved-out, smooth pocket within the top portion of the lamp rather than above the unit, so the light actually glows through the uppermost 6 inches of the marble AND gleams off the brassy inner dome. EASY 5-star item and truly magnificent in every way. Comes with a pretty nice fabric cord and foot clicker. It has a thin sticky pad underneath but still scratched the heck out of my wood floor when sliding into place. Oh well.

BR Home will not honor Banana Republic gift certificates. I was told it was because their Shopify payment system was not set up for gift certificates only discount codes. Good grief! It's the same company. Why not honor the gift certificate you sold?

Tried to work with a designer and it’s been crickets. What kind of company is this? This reminds me of the early RH days when it was chaotic and orders went months unfulfilled. Prices are exorbitant and there is little way to judge quality yet.

Sent me the wrong order and doesn't answer the phone. I am unable to get a hold of anyone to return it.
